6-year-old angel garcia vazquez and his mother were killed as they crossed the foothill at 26th avenue. the suspected hit and run driver was later arrested. >> it's grief and love to the families who were impacted. >> oakland city council member said that new safety improvements have been made at 22nd and foothill. barriers and poles, an effort to slow cars down. >> you cannot speed towards the intersection and cut a corner and potentially hurt somebody. >> blocks away on 26th avenue the city installed a pedestrian island surrounded by posts. the neighbors have noticed the traffic improvements and they say, they are not sure it's all going to work. >> everyone is driving fast. pretty unsafe. >> i hope it works. but everyone still drives crazy on it. so, pretty fast. i'm not sure what needs to happen. >> speed humps have been added near garfield elementary. some cars were slowing down.

and not all. the added improvements likely not perfect. but a safe start. in oakland, cornell bernard, abc7. >> building a better bay area, sometimes means conflict. in san francisco, there's a big push for a mixed use development that includes affordable housing for seniors. the cost? chopping down hundreds of trees. the fight is brewing in laurel heights where we have concerned neighbors. >> a sapling cannot convert half of the co-2 that i can. i am healthy. i can help you, help me. he has been a fighter for trees by choice. these trees on california street in particular, that could be done if a planned mixed use development in the laurel heights neighborhood gets the green light. >> the proposal, which is a good proposal, seeks to take down 200 trees in a time that our city needs them more than ever.

[ laughter ] was a congratulatory call made in april after president zelensky won the election there. trump claims he'll release the transcript for that tomorrow.

the reason they're releasing it tomorrow and not today is because they need time to finish writing it. [ laughter ] what he thinks this will prove i have no -- just because you release a transcript of a second call where you didn't break the law doesn't mean you're off the hook for the first -- this is like if bill clinton said, well, here's an intern who didn't give me oral sex.
