>> good morning. democrats say that newly revealed phone call is important because it shows that president trump was personally involved in the scandal. this morning, new questions after that surprising new testimony in the impeachment investigation. >> could not be explained. it was crazy. >> reporter: then came that unexpected revelation from taylor, that in recent days, he learned about a phone call allegedly involving the president. taylor says on july 26th, one day after the president's controversial call with ukraine's president, his staffer overheard trump asking u.s. ambassador to the eu gordon sondland over the phone about, quote, the investigations. >> ambassador sondland told my associate that president trump cares more about the investigations of biden. >> reporter: president trump says he doesn't remember the

president obama. patrick admits he faces a big challenge but says he has gotten encouragement from other democrats. more chaos the a tat the oad unified school board meeting. >> protesters disrupted and then took over the meeting. >> no more closures! >> oakland is not for sale! >> many parents and teachers are upset about the closure and consolidation of several schools due to declining enrollments. the board president tried to keep order but then the entire room turned its back on the school board while chanting loudly. at the october 23rd meeting protesters clashed with police inside the meeting room after protest jumped over a barricade separating them from the school board. at that meeting arrests were made. one parent was hurt that night. she wants the district to stop spending money on its police force. >> that could be used to save our public schools and keep them open, which is all we're asking

for, let our children have their public education. >> the board were forced to leave the meeting room and continue upstairs, no public allowed. then students took their places at the meeting. protest say they will be back for the next school board meeting in december. growing outrage over a deadly shooting in vallejo involving an off-duty police officer. today the victim's family is expected to speak. they want body camera to be released. eric reason died sunday night. virgil thomas shot him over an argument about a parking space. reason confronted the sergeant with a gun he said. the attorney for the victim's family questions whether the responding officers followed protocol. she shared this photo which appears to show the sergeant taking photos or video the at crime scene. oakland is dropping a lawsuit against alameda county

over the oakland coliseum complex. the city has been trying to prevent the county from selling its half ownership to the oakland a's. the team wants to redevelop that laid. oakland can now consider selling its half of the coliseum complex to the a's. public transit is an integral part of building a better bay area. vrt planned to open late next month but there's aem wh unmarked underground obstacles. the aim of the service is to run buses every seven minutes from downtown oakland to san leandro. we are just days away from building our building a better bay area fremont week. we'll be holding a town hall and looking at issues that impact the bay area's fourth largest city including housing, job creation, diversity and much more. the bay area goes all out on world kindness day. we find out how people are

the suspects. the santa cruz county sheriff's office showed this video of the three suspects. one of the men is carrying a duffel bag. another has a rifle. they're seen walking near a house in struanta cruz. atra was kidnapped and killed last month. hazardous waste has money removed from 370 buildings or homes destroyed by the kincade fire. hazardous materials can include paint. >> it's important to get the home owners to move forward with their lives and get everything else behind them. the fire itself is devastating. so you want to get these people going back on their feet. >> the hazardous waste clean up process is expected to take

three weeks. in our effort to building a better bay area, we cannot overlook the simple act of being kind to one another. yesterday in the south bay and around the globe many celebrated world kindness day. >> for our story on world kindness day, we knew we needed the right equipment. and then we needed takers. people to answer the question what is one kind thing you've done today. >> i held the elevator door. saying good morning to everybody who came in. >> for me i recently lost my dad within the past year so whenever i smile i extend that. >> reporter: what is it, how would you define it? >> something that brings a smile to someone's face whether you're bringing joy to someone or if you're helping them out. just making them happy in a certain way.

today with the cloud kcover and verga we will be a bit cooler. chesa boudin will not take over as san francisco's next district attorney until january 8th. boudin requested that suzy loftus stay in office until then. boudin plans to get married before the week is out. abc7 news is committed to finding and fixing issues to building a better bay area. nearly 1 in 4 homeless people in santa clara county is a college student. the san jose mayor's office is launching a first of its kind pilot program with airbnb. it will offer temporary short-term housing for homeless students attending san jose state or a local community college. a $250,000 grant from the state will cover the cost of housing. it's all a part of santa clara county's ongoing commitment to house 100 students in 100 days.
