lauren martinez is live in mountain view with more. >> good morning. vice president mike pence's trip includes a tour and a speech here. his trip will discuss the role the center will play in returning astronauts to the moon within the next five years. last night the vp landed with his wife, karen, at monterey regional airport before heading to moffett field. today the vice president will be speaking to about 200 nasa employees after he speaks to nasa he will then head to washington, d.c. reporting live in mountain view, lauren martinez, abc7 news. and the second lady, karen pence, will be in alameda. she's visiting military spouses at coast guard island. she is bringing attention to the sacrifices family members make and how that contributes to the strength of our coast guard.

that visit is set to happen at 10:00. at the live desk, a big step towards recovery in el paso, texas after that mass shooting killed 22 people in august. the walmart where the shooting happened reopens today. since the shooting, walmart has hired extra security guards at its other el paso stores. store managers have been helping employees to work through the tragedy. >> giving a sense of hope at the end of this tragic event that happened, that they can get back to some sort of normal life. >> the accused gunman pleaded not guilty to murder in october. police say he targeted mexicans and posted a white supremacist manifesto online before the attack. reggie? >> thanks, jobina. a vacaville woman becomes the first bay area person to die from complications from vaping. today authorities will complete an autopsy and toxicologytists.

marin county health officials say amanda arconti died on friday. she lived in vacaville but spent a lot of time with her family in novato. the cdc said vitamin e acetate are a key contributor to the deaths. it's been 25 years since the death of san francisco police officer james guelff. there was a vigil for him at pine and franklin last night. officer guelff' death changed the way the department arms itself. a man wearing body armor shot gelf with his semiautomatic weapon in 1984. it was no match against the officer's six-match revolver. we are getting a new perspective of that brush fire that burned near the cal mary time academy.

the vallejo firefighters association showed this video. we have a closer look at how firefighters saw it on the ground. this security video shows four different angles of the flames around a home. flames were encroaching on two sides of the house when firefighters arrived. but within a minute smoke starts to surround the home and cameras, embers flying everywhere. the house escaped virtually unscathed. it's not clear yet what caused the fire. lagunitas will host a fund-raiser today to help people of the kincade fire. this will be at the brewery's tap room in petaluma. the event runs from 4:00 to 9:00. all proceeds will go to a non-profit organization that helps first responders. some melanie martinez fans are upset after she canceled her concert. one fan said they were lining up since 7:00 in the morning.

about three hours this afternoon. 57 at 7:00. our last stop will be the south bay, 50s through 9:00. 60 to 63 through 10:00 and 4:00, 57 at 7:00. temperatures will be much different this weekend. i'll have that coming up next. >> good morning. we have a sigalert we're following. i'm starting with the tracy to dublin drive time. it's an hour and eight minutes. as soon as you hit dublin, that's when you're going to run into the sigalert. we have a five-car crash that we're following westbound 580 the a the dublin interchange. you can see that bar at the bottom. the backup extends more than two miles. it's going further back. the speeds are down to 12 miles per hour in the area. no injuries reported. at first all lanes were blocked so they're beginning to clear things up a bit. in the south bay, san jose, looking clear this morning.

some pg&e customers are warning others about getting billed for electricity they didn't use during the public safety power shutoffs. se shawna turner lost power for a month. she checked the bill for each day she was in the dark and was surprised that charges forest mated usage were on for those days. >> estimated. estimated. estimated. then bam, our power's back on. we use the same amount of power. i want to know why i'm getting billed. why? i -- i had no power. >> yikes. people all over the el dorado county area have taken to social media saying they're having the

same problem. pg&e is responding saying "this should not be happening." okay. some customers also noted a message on their online account saying that online usage data may temporarily reflect estimated but not actual usage. turner tells others to keep a close look on their next bill. transit is a key part of building a better bay area. getting from "a" to "b" has gotten increasingly difficult in san francisco. the city's new transtrump administration director is hoping to fix that. mayor london breed introduced jeffrey tumblin yesterday as the new head of sfmta. first on his agenda is getting feedback from his staff. he has promised to improve the overall quality of service. he acknowledged that muni buses need repairs, construction projects are behind schedule and there's a severe lack of parking in the city. this ten-week old puppy is getting love because of his extra tail. >> look at this rescue puppy

an smurinsurance executive the longest sentence yet in the college admissions scandal. six months in prison. >> tobey macfarland paid $500,000 to get his two kids admitted to usc. he's the 13th parent sentenced. more than 50 have been charged. one of the parents charged in the collegedm scandal is actress lori loughlin. i'm following new developments in her case. us weekly reports that loughlin is contemplating changing her plea to guilty before pretrial hearing scheduled for january. if she does, prosecutors may recommend ten years in prison, but she would have to testify against her husband and co-defendant. if she goes to trial and is found guilty she could face 50 years in prison. she and her husband are accused of paying $500,000 to get their daughters into usc.

blocking all lanes now on northbound 17 past large avenue. emergency crews are on the way there. so we will keep you posted on what happens. this will impact people coming from the santa cruz mountains into the south bay. up to daly city, another sigalert. one car involved here. look at that. the traffic on the opposite side is starting to be impacted as well. this is northbound 280 before westborough boulevard. one car spun out, crashed, injuries have been reported. speeds are down to 11, 6 and 7 miles per hour in some spots. if we move over to dublin. that's the third sigalert. you can see that backup extending about five miles here. this is westbound 580 at the dublin interchange. we know that five cars were involved here. still does look like two lanes are blocked. they are looking to try to get that cleared up as soon as possible because this is impacting the super commuters. now a travel alert i have for you. airlines are expecting the
