safety shutoff this week. it could affect parts of the bay area, and many people are bracing for the possibility of losing power again. cornell bernard is following this developing story and joins us live. what are you hearing out there? >> reporter: pg&e says it's just too early to say where exactly a possible power shutoff could happen, but we do know it could take place wednesday or thursday. so far no customers have been notified, but locals they say they're getting ready to lose electricity once again. >> i think it's terrible. you know, i think it's -- we're not venezuela. it's california. >> reporter: news of another possible public safety power shutoff was tough for many to hear. >> okay, i'm sorhy to hear the news. >> reporter: and they weren't expecting to lose power the week beforels not having any le electricity for several days last month. >> we had no power, and we used

lanterns, but we had no hot water. >> reporter: farmhouse local was busy serving sunday brunch, but during october's power shutoff the restaurant was forced to close and lost thousands of dollars. the manager doesn't want to relive that. >> you know, i had to throw away everything we had in the restaurant especially things like dairy kind of stuff or seafood. >> reporter: pg&e says it's watching a weather system which could increase the risk of wildfires midweek. >> so right now we're monitoring the forecasts for wednesday, november 20th and it shows the potential for dry and windy weather in the see era foothills and north bay area. the utility says lack of rain is not helping. >> what should have been the end of a fire season has not happened. >> reporter: pg&e says the approaching weather system could be similar to one which prompted a psps on october 23rd impacting about 180,000 customers. >> i'm sure it's for the best,

you know, why they're doing this. i hope so. >> but others aren't so sure. >> i think it's years of mismanagement coming home to roost. i think the public just has to be ready to deal with this for a few years. >> reporter: pg&e says if a psps is needed, it will try to give customers a 48-hour warning. the utility says its website which crashed during the last shutoff has been improved to handle increased traffic. >> okay, we appreciate the report, cornell. thanks. meantime all eyes on wednesday and thursday for the weather, and with a look at what pg&e has got worried about, let's get a check with meteorologist drew tuma. >> what will drive this increased wind here on wednesday is an area of low pressure that will drop into california and strengthen over southern california, and that's going to dry those offshore winds to increase that dry wind this time

person died after getting hit. the walk up took place in the tenderloin and every single street is part of the high injury network. some of the fatalities and serious injuries that have taken place this year have happened in this neighborhood. the board of supervisors presidents norman ghee and they joined the walk and spoke to the victims families and survivors who shared their stories. >> the board of supervisors a week ago passed our state of emergency for traffic safety, and so that does outline everything we're going to be pushing for, increased red light cameras, increased police enforcement. >> i was mostly thrown off the bike, but it was pretty scary. and another time i did get doored by a cab which, you know, was not great.

night at oracle park. a public memorial took place in oakland today to honor kaiser permanente ceo bernard tyson following his unexpected death. mourners gathered inside the oakland rotunda. today's marked the only public memorial for tomorrow. tomorrow a ceremony will take place inside san francisco's chase center. tyson was considered to be a leader in the health care industry. many elected officials and others praised tyson's efforts to help health care more assessable. on the peninsula stanford health care welcomed patients to its new state-of-the-art hospital today. abc 7 was in palo alto. patients were transferred over the sky bridge connect today the old building. the new hospital which features hi-tech suites and also features 4 acres of gardens, original

art, walking trail and a meditation room. we spoke to a patient who needs a lung transplant, and he said the new room is a silver lining. >> feel very lucky. they've been working on this wing for 11 years and i just happened to step into here and get to walk into this brand new room. >> it wasn't just patients, though, hospital employees also seemed very excited to work in the new wing. new at 6:00, a new mural honoring those who lost their lives in police shootings was unveiled in san francisco today. this work of art you see here stands 2 stories high on the northeast corner on 24th and cap street in the mission. it has four different sections each featuring people killed in police shootings. the title means stop the fire in the mission. organizers behind the mural say they want justice for the victims and transparency in

that'll move into california and whip up the winds on wednesday. it is for that active fire weather watch that will go into effect wednesday morning 4:00 in the morning. and those offshore winds really mean any fires that potentially start could spread rapidly and our vegetation is so dry. it's been so long since we had a soaking storm, months in fact. wind gusts will track it out for you, 9:00 a.m. the winds beginning to ramp up in the north bay. seeing gusts over 40 miles per hour, and they'll continue to strengthen and a bit more widespread. this is wednesday evening at 9:00 p.m. in the evening. those winds offshore. that dry wind this time of year gusting close to not hour. as we head into early thursday morning the coverage of those winds will begin to decrease and midday thursday they really do calm down. but there's that period especially wednesday night where it'll increase our fire damage thanks to dry condition and breezy conditions. it'll try and bring a little bit
