waking up, good morning. let's see what's happening with weather and traffic. >> hi. i wanted to throw this out there first thing to let you know what's coming up 4:00 wednesday morning, then 27 hours later at 7:00 thursday morning, we have a fire danger. righ fire weather watch which means be prepared for those critical fire conditions. the off-shore breeze, the gusty conditions, the dry air, the dry vegetation, we can't do much about that. we'll try to keep your area irrigated and at least healthy. let's look at what's going on. here's a look at live doppler 7. notice the cloud cover, well off the coast. we're waking up clear this morning. my accuweather seven-day forecast, 47 to 52, mainly to 70 at noon. 60s at the coast. a few record high temperatures for one more time. let's get back to jobina. she'll tell you about traffic. >> thank you very much. good morning. we'll start off here with a live look at the san mateo bridge.

things are moving smoothly across the bay area now. and we had an earlier issue that was reported on the richmond-san rafael bridge of a wrong-way driver. it appears that's been cleared up as well. nice we're going to bring you over to a closure that will happen tonight. it will snarl things up. this is the webster street tube closure at 9:30 p.m., and it will wrap up 4:30 in the morning. just be aware because it could potentially cause issues. >> all right. thank you. pg&e could potentially shut off power again this week. in a few hours the utility will start letting customers know. >> for many people who could be affected by this possible round of power shutoffs this is not the first time. the warning is going out to customers in lake, mendocino,

napa, solano and sonoma counties. amy hollyfield is live in napa. amy? >> good morning. people are having a hard time believing that this could be happening again. they so vividly remember the last power outage and the struggles that that caused both at their homes and then also at a lot of businesses. pg&e has been turning off the power during dry, windy conditions to prevent their equipment from sparking wildfires. official says the utility -- officials at the utility say they realize it's late in the season to be talking about fire. they say it's because the warm weather is sticking around. >> right now we're monitoring the forecast for wednesday, november 20th. it shows the potential for dry and windy weather in the sierra foothills and in the north bay areas. it should have been an end of a fire season and it has not happened. >> so this possible outage could

impact 250,000 customers in the sierra foothills and in the north valley and in the north bay. that would be sonoma and napa and solano counties in the bay area. pg&e says it hopes to let people know this morning whether their power will be going out wednesday. reporting live from napa, amy hollyfield. a san francisco park ranger suspected to be okay after he was stabbed while trying to help an angry driver. police say the ranger followed a man's car on interstate 80 after seeing him yell at other drivers yesterday morning. the driver crashed into the center divide near the 7th street off-ramp. as the ranger got out of his car to help, the driver stabbed him. people passing by helped that ranger out and they held the suspect until the police got there. the suspect was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries and the ranger was treated on scene. the santa clarita high

school where two teens were shot and killed will remain closed for two weeks. >> dear grace, to my favorite woman, my little sister, the best sister i could have asked for. >> family members paid emotional tributes to victims of the vigil last night. 15-year-old gracie ann mulburger and 14-year-old dominic black well died in the attack. the 16-year-old gunman wounded three other students before turning the gun on himself and he died on friday. we have new details about a weekend fire in san francisco's castro district. the owners of four businesses damaged by smoke and flames will be eligible for financial help from the city. they can apply for up to $10,000 each. there's no word on what caused the fire, but it forced seven people out of their homes and

even one person had burns. a firefighter was taken to the hospital. housing it always near the top of the list in an effort to building a better bay area. san francisco leaders just approved a plan to turn an abandoned gas station into a mixed commercial and residential building. some people say not so fast. lauren martinez explains. >> reporter: on 45th and juda, you can see this run-down lot with an old gas station. they are proposing to demolish it and build this. according to the project summary the building will be five stories and contain 20 residential units, some of them considered affordable with seven off-street parking spaces. >> the max height for buildings in this neighborhood is 40 feet. >> reporter: a penthouse elevator will make the proposed building stretch above 70 feet. >> that's huge. that's going to be an eyesore in the community.

>> reporter: david is not the only one who spoke out about the project at last week's public hearing. >> i'm all for taking the blighted parking lot that was eugene's garage and doing something with it after some 30 years after watching it desiccate. but i don't agree with taking the bronx and turning it into manhattan. >> reporter: he created a gofundme account to raise money for the cost of submitting an appeal. he also posted these flyers notifying people in the neighborhood. ultimately the san francisco planning commission approved the project. >> frankly it's fairly modest opposition. the opposition is basically we would like to get a story taken off and a little bit more consideration for handicap and elderly in the parking proposal. >> reporter: in san francisco, lauren martinez, abc7 news. abc 7 is spending a week looking at how fremont is building a better bay area. we are looking at the history

monday morning commute. i am seeing everything looking good across the bay area. hopefully we can keep that up throughout the morning. i want to let you know about an update here. the registration process kicks off today. the entire convention will be in full force tomorrow. the dream force convention, so there are going to be traffic issues with those road closures, primarily right here. howard street between 3rd and 4th street will be closed. that's through november 24th at 8:00 p.m. their advice is to please walk, maybe scooter, bike, do not take your car down that way.

if you're not from there, maybe you don't know that much about it. maybe you're like, wait, where is it again? fremont, east bay or south bay? >> east. >> east bay. >> oh! >> it's south. >> to me, it's always been south. >> but you say -- >> east bay. >> why? >> fremont is here. yes. in the east bay at the end of the b.a.r.t. line in south alameda county nestled around silicon valley. the first thing to know about fremont, it's huge. nearly 92 square miles. in terms of population, the fourth largest city in the bay area. it's also relatively new, it wasn't formed until 1956 nearly 100 years after san jose. life has been there for years. seriously. fremont made headlines a few

years back when it found ice ag million years. decades earlier, in the 1940s, a group of young boys found similar fossils. pree mon fremont is diverse. and it's a hub for tech manufacturering. it's where apple made its first mac commuters and where tesla has its main factory. but as some film buffs might tell you, it's known for something else. several silent movies were formed in fremont in the early 1900s, including five charlie chaplain films. remember "the tramp?" yep, filmed in fremont. chaplain didn't live in the area long. history says he didn't like it but he left his mark. the city has a museum d films a annual charlie ch a cool claim to fame, even now in modern times.

if you're just joining us, look what happens as we head from 4:00 wednesday morning to 7:00 thursday. we have a worry for 27 hours of a high fire danger in the north bay mountains, east bay hills and the diablo range. gusty winds, dry air and dry vegetation, which we shouldn't have this time of the year combine for critical fire conditions. 4:00 in the morning, calistoga, middleton, that's where we have the fastest winds. they will peak during the evening and early overnight hours wednesday night. so while we're going to bed, that's when the winds will be

beds. it also features four acres of gardens, original art, walking trails and even a medication room. the hospital had been in development for more than a decade. >> 4:00 tomorrow morning, those are the high clouds and the low clouds i talked about earlier. look how they whoosh through. that's the cold front. it will be dry here, by 4:00 tuesday afternoon, you are seeing rain in the sierra, once the sun sets turns over to snow it keeps snowing at least further to the south in the sierra at 4:30 in the morning that clears up then as we get those gusty winds clearing out and have to deal with a fire danger. the only issue with this storm coming with much needed precipitation is a winter storm watch in the areas you can see here in kind of the dark blue. we're talking about 2 to 4, maybe 5 inches of snow. the water equivalent of that the next seven days, again, look at all around us, there's nothing until you get to fresno and bishop southward, that's where we will have the best chance of

now at 5:00, the countdown to dreamforce. the big impact you can expect in san francisco even if you are not going to the conference. we are tracking a new round of possible pg&e power shutoffs this week. the counties that could be in the dark in just a few days. good morning. it's monday, november 18th. >> following all those stories, first let's check in with mike to see what conditions might be leading to this possible shutoff. >> critical fire conditions, something we shouldn't be talking about in november. because we're nearly 2 to 5 inches below our levels of rain that we should have received by now, we still have extremely dry, high volatility and the vegetation can easily ignite. even with cool winds, it will spread the fires quickly. i'll show you that coming up. you can see it's clear, cloud-free. same thing on the exploratorium camera. nothing but stars. temperatures mainly in the mid 40s to mid 50s.
