abc 7 news was at the scene when police used flash bang grenades. that was last night on santa clara and eighth streets. police first responded just before 6:00 last night. they have been there ever since. we will bring you the latest updates. new developments in the orinda halloween house shooting. four of the five men have been released in this case. >> we have more on why these men are out. amy? >> reporter: well, the district attorney's office isn't saying much. isn't explaining why they decided not to charge them. they are only saying that more investigation is needed. the arrests were made last week inined raids involving

different law enforcement agencies and armored vehicles. it looked like something out of a movie. the arrests were made in marin city, vallejo, antioch. five men were arrested and put into jail. but now they have been released. they ranged in age from 20 to 30. they were very briefly accused of the killings of five people in a rented home in orinda on halloween night. the sheriff's office has released a statement, though, saying they stand by their investigation and that those responsible will ultimately be held accountable saying this is common in these types of complex cases. reporting live from martinez, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. all right. thank you, amy. pg&e could be cutting power as soon as tomorrow morning into thursday. here's a look at which counties and how many customers might be impacted. late last night they expanded

jennifer williams, special adviser to the vice president who called it unusual and inappropriate. and lieutenant colonel alexander vindman, the top ukraine expert on the national security counsel. and now a new witness added to the list for this week, david holmes, the diplomat who testified he overheard a phone call between eu ambassador gordon sondland and president trump. the transcript of his closed door testimony released overnight. holmes telling investigators he remembers it vividly because of its candor. he heard sondland tell trump, the president of ukraine, quote, loves your expletive. this as president trump said he is strongly considering testifying in the impeachment probe after this informal offer from nancy pelosi. >> the president could come right before the committee and talk -- speak all the truth that he wants. >> reporter: and president trump responded to house speaker nancy pelosi on twitter saying,

they were all southeast asian men. one of the victims' uncles said the man he knew was more like a son. >> this is what i used to do for my mom and my dad when they they died. here i show my nephew that i respect him. >> the police are mobilizing an asian gang task force. there is no indication the group was gang affiliated but they believe the party was somehow targeted a woman was hurt in the 2017 las vegas massacre has died from her injuries. the 57-year-old suffered spinal injuries when a man opened fire from the mandalay bay hotel down on-20 a country music festival. the socal nursing facility she was staying in announced she died last friday. 58 people were killed in the massacre and more than 500 injured. on the peninsula, two more possible drugging incidents

problems, and everyone is looking for solutions. that's why abc 7 is looking for answers and inspiration in communities throughout the recently and revealing how they're tackling the same big problems. how is fremont working to build a better bay area. >> for the past month, abc 7 news has been imbedded in the city of fremont. this week we are bringing you their stories to solutions that we are all facing. behind the solutions are the people of fremont. they are the facing of a diverse and inclusive community. abc 7 news reporter wayne friedman was down there with a camera to try to capture their essence in pictures. this morning's faces are the people on the front lines of the housing battle. >> reporter: in fremont, like many large cities, there are people for whom the living comes day to day and where they find it. >> or to the longest time in fremont, we didn't want to admit that we had big city problems like homelessness. the test of a good community is how well it takes care of those who have the least.

>> reporter: louis grew up in free phopblt. he founded abode services, which developed low-income housing for 5,000 people in six bay area counties. >> the only reason that we develop is it's a need. so we're based on a mission. our mission is to really end homelessness for people. >> he's definitely a blessing. >> reporter: tina and boyfriend billy joe have lived in the commons for three years. >> no matter how badly you mess up in life it's what you do after the mistake that counts. >> a one bedroom apartment, a kitchen, even a pet. this comes from a nonprofit working with landlords and government subsidies. >> they are going to give you a place. they are going to give you the effort and time and show that you really want it. >> a lot of homeless people can get out of homelessness by having affordable rents. >> he could have made a

yesterday. unfortunately, no rain here. it will leave a little bit of snow on the western slope and also the sierra. we have a winter weather wednesday evening. so 27 hours of possible snow there. we will be dealing with 27 hours of critical fire conditios. here's a look at your temperatures. low 60s to mid-60s from half moon bayd the bay. 64 to 69 in our inland areas. we will definitely be cooler than this morning. low to mid-50s in the east bay valleys. the rest of us 40 to 50 degrees. accuweather seven-day forecast. breezy today with a cold front. but windy tomorrow. that's when the dry air also kicks in. that's why we have the highest fire danger. breezes will taper thursday. temperatures will be close to average with 50s and 60s. may squeak out 170 here and therertg this morning

with an early double fatal head-on collision in the north bay highway 29 at bale lane. both directions still blocked until further notice. silverado trail is your alternate. a crash in martinez has been reported both eastbound and westbound. once chp gets there. sit near alhambra. keep that in mind. southbound 242 is slow in concord. san francisco getting there. traffic backed up at the bay bridge toll plaza toward the 880 overcrossing. avoid the south of market area because of the dreamforce convention. lots of traffic through the area. howard street closed near moscone until 8:00 sunday evening. traffic is still looking pretty good. earlier problems near treat. a few brake lights there on the root toward highway 224. san mateo flowing well.
