that breaking news is in berkeley where hundreds of protesters surrounded a building at uc berkeley during a talk tonight by author and commentator ann colter. >> seven people were arrested including one inside the event. >> reporter: good evening, guys. about an hour ago but you can still there's lots of people out here protesting. earlier sky 7 was overhead as some people in the crowd appeared to start fighting with each other and with officers. multiple mass protesters were arrested. earlier in the evening sky 7 also saw a person on the ground.

first responders loaded that person onto a blackboard and loaded them away. police have not provided any details of that incident. it also seemed the crowd made it difficult for people with tickets to get inside the event. berkeley college republicans organized koulter's tweet tonight called adios america and kou -- >> we need some time to assimilate the ones already here and i do believe anyone can become, i think, i know, anyone can become a great american. >> reporter: now as we take a live look at sky 7 overhead you can see barricades have been setup to make a clear path for people leaving the event.

uc berkeley officials say there were no reports of any damage. now another speaking event organized by college republicans was violently shutdown by protesters in 2017. berkeley officials say they've had several conservative speakers since then without any incident. >> thanks very much. we have new details surrounding the two men involved in yesterday's deadly b.a.r.t. stabbing. >> tonight we're hearing from family and friends of the victim, a man being called a good samaritan for what he did. >> reporter: dan, ama, while family and friends say they are obviously very shocked and heartbroken over the death, they say they aren't surprised he died a good samaritan. this public facebook post shows how family and friends will remember tuesday's stabbing victim, happy, always enjoying life. the alameda county coroner named

oliver t. williams was the man killed. family members identify this as his facebook page. >> he always tried to help people, and i'm not shocked he tried to help somebody the other day. >> reporter: according to b.a.r.t. williams tried to stop this man from stealing a shoe from a sleeping passenger. during the fight b.a.r.t. police say he pulled out a knife in self-defense. they say he was killed with his own weapon. >> both individuals took it upon themselves to start a fight, and it's something unfortunately happened and somebody lost their life as a result of it. >> reporter: someone many describe as a loving father. on facebook his daughter posted this message. if you knew anything about him, you know he loved showing off his daughters. >> tyrone was a beautiful man. >> reporter: she knew tyrone as a neighbor and friend adding his actions are entirely reflective of the man she knew. friends and family agree they

say tyrone always stood up for what was right. >> like i said i'm not shocke he tried to help him. that sounds just like him. >> reporter: tyrone was just weeks away from becoming a grandfather. >> amanda, thank you. the suspect in the stabbing is 39-year-old germane grim of san francisco. paramedics took him to the hospital around 12:30 yesterday morning on an unspecified medical call. police say when they checked ri. he's being held at san clarita jail tonight. b.a.r.t.'s general manager insists the system is safe. >> and i just want to reassure the public that b.a.r.t. is a

again by getting them to open up about the police raids that happened here last thursday. when law enforcement came searching for suspects related to the halloween party shooting in orinda that left five people dead. >> i'm hurt. i'm angry. >> reporter: many spoke out against negative stereo types o the city having problems with gangs. others raised concern about the timing of the raids. >> they came in with tanks as if all these people were dangerous, and now they're released. how dangerous are they? >> these police people are shouting at me, everybody it's very frightening. and it kind of, you know, disturbs me. >> reporter: this 16-year-old shared her experience of watching her neighbors be arrested. she said this type of forum helps young people get their message out. many of the teachers say they're listening. >> a lot of my students had fear, they had questions.

>> reporter: in marin city, ansar hassan. some north bay residents are with what could be their last day of power before the power shutoff. >> close to 5,000 customers in napa and sonoma county got their power restored by 6:00 p.m. today. >> improving weather conditions mean they expect crews will begin expecting lines in all counties by tomorrow morning to begin the power restoration process. >> sandhya patel is here with a look at those wind conditions. >> let's take a look at those winds. mt. st. helena gusting at 46 miles an hour. and hawkeye gusting ou which is why the red flag warning is going to continue for 7:00 a.m. for the hills. that's just because of the fact the wind is very drying one out of the north-northeast.

as you look at the hour by hour forecast midnight tonight the winds are dying down. lower elevations by tomorrow morning, it is a much different story. right now east bay hills camera is shaky as it is gusty out there. past 24 hours mt. st. helena 73 mile per hour winds. let's talk some presidential politics. ten of the top democratic candidates took the stage tonight in the fifth presidential debate. trevor holt is in atlanta with the biggest moments of the night. >> reporter: tonight another crowded stage of ten democratic presidential candidates. the fifth primary debate hosted by msnbc and "the washington post" following a day of bombshell impeachment testimony in washington. >> e have to establish the principle no one is above the law. >> it is a criminal enterprise engaged in by the president. from what we've heard today the vice president, the secretary of state and the chief of staff. eporter: candidates largely agreed on the importance of impeaching the president, but there was plenty of

communities throughout the region and revealing how they're tackling the same big problems. how is fremont working to build a better bay area? and all this week we have been digging into what the city of fremont has been doing to help build a better bay area. >> but what if some of the thing's it's doing right are actually pushing people away? >> abc 7 reporter luce penna pea talks whether fremont is a good place. >> all those things that make it such a good place to grow up is also making a very expensive place to live. a rising cost of living has some young people wondering can they afford to stay in fremont. in fremont central park and a new generation is just starting to see what fremont has to offer. >> lots of community areas. you know, lots of culture you can learn from a lot of different people and see a lot of different aspects of life.

>> but even at this early age parents here worry whether fremont can continue to be a great place to raise a family. >> i hope they have a childhood like i had growing up, being able to play with kids on the block, being able to, you know, have friends in the neighborhood. >> reporter: though fremont is the bay area's fourth largest city growing up here feels much smaller. >> fremont has expanded but i still feel like i'm a small town girl. >> reporter: he's looking forward to the next chapter, heading to college and out of fremont. >> in some ways i feel like we are a bubble community. i feel like we don't have the same hardships in other communities across the nation. >> reporter: she wants to get out of that bubble but doesn't rule out coming back. >> coming back to fremont after a couple of years of exploring the world will be an option for me. >> reporter: the big question is how much longer will she be

here? >> if everything goes right hopefully less than six months. >> he's now looking to leave because he can't afford to stay. >> i love fremont. i've made lifelong friends in my time here. i became the person i am here. but as with most of the bay area fremont is not what it was 10, 12, 15 years ago. >> reporter: according to recent data real estate has skyrocketed appreciating nearly 60%. the median price of a home in fremont is now over $1.1 million. for many of people like sammy that puts ownership out of reach. >> i'd love to buy a house. i've always believed that's how you kind of secure your own future, how you build your family and you have that stability. >> reporter: until he can afford to buy a home, he's been renting this house in north fremont. sammy admits he's getting a good deal for a three bedroom two bathhouse. he pays $2300 a month.

similar homes in this neighborhood are renting for $3300. real estate site zillow zillow estimates houses in this neighborhood sell for $3 million. >> they were not necessarily mansions, right, but they were large. >> reporter: the reality is you are renting a million dollar house. do you feel like a millionaire? >> no, definitely not. >> reporter: sammy tells me he doesn't want to leave the bay area. he's held out as long as he can. >> i'm the last one of my friends still here. we had a large group of friends from high school that they graduated. the closest one, there's only one left is in castro valley. >> sammy will soon be joining his friends as someone who used to live in fremont. >> there are a lot of people here that are struggling. >> reporter: he's planning to move out of the bay area. in fremont, abc 7 news.

>> it's just tough, obviously. >> it certainly is. and we are focusing our building a better bay area coverage on fremont all week and looking at issues that impact the bay-air's fourth largest city. let's move on and talk about the weather forecast. a little bit of rain. >> sandhya patel is here with that. >> we had a bit of rain around this time last night. but right now on live doppler 7 it is quiet. the system that brought us the rain is spinning around southern california. it brought them rainfall, see era snow. it definitely is winding down as it starts to push east. but it's also been responsible as it moved out for kicking up the winds in the hills. tonight it is gusty. you may have noticed a bit of chill in the air. sutro tower showing you san francisco, all clear. winds relax overnight tonight. a chilly start tomorrow morning and dry pattern continues through monday, and there are multiple chances of rain next

week. i'll show that to you in just a moment. tomorrow don't leave home with without a jacket as you will notice temperatures in the coldest areas will be down in the mid and upper 30s. most other areas 30s, 40s, but san francisco 53 degrees. for the afternoon it is going to be cool, a mix of sun and clouds. low 60 from san francisco to half moon bay. 66 degrees concord, 62 oakland. 65 in san jose and livermore. i want to fast forward to tuesday since next week is a big travel week. so tuesday system starts to drop down, brings us the wet weather going into wednesday which is the travel day. and thanksgiving we haveno syemominghrgh going intoil bring us another chance of some rain. so take a look at the rainfall projections taking you from tuesday all the way through friday. possibly up to an inch in san a

santa clara police are reveali revealing how a 5-year-old boy got on the tracks. police believe the boy was playing in the backyard of his santa clara home when he removed a couple of boards in the fence and got out. his parents were inside the home at the time. in the north bay a teenager is accused of setting off a fire extinguisher and this was the result. they tracked down and arrested 18-year-old joshua mead after he took off in a mustang. at least no one was hurt but as you can see a real mess. >> a lot of sports to handle tonight. >> one night after a nice road wind warriors had one of their worst games in like
