level flooding. this happened around 9:30 last night, this is not the only place where officials identified breaks. the public utilities commission says three breaks happened along 22nd street on the intersections of kansas, rhode island and carolina street. a resident we spoke to last night says this is the second time where the water department was in the neighborhood. >> i thought they fixed it. i thought it was fixed. again, there was water department early in the week, now it's the fire department, which means it's a serious situation. >> water service in the area has been shut down. as you can see, crews are currently making repairs. there is no word on a cause at this time. reporting live in san francisco, lauren martinez, abc7 news. >> thank you. the time is 4:30. if you're just joining us. good morning. happy friday.

we'll get a quick update of weather and traffic starting with mike. >> i'm concerned about black ice being possible around novato and santa rosa. a bit of moisture hanging in the air, when the temperature gets below freezing, that could turn into ice on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses. this is something jobina and i will keep an eye on throughout the morning commute. as far as what is going on with the winds, they're very light. so any of that fog up in the north bay could slowly slide down 101. here we're looking at san rafael, it looks clear as we look south towards the bay bridge. let's talk about your temperatures. 32 to 41 degrees through 7:00. so if you're heading out now, temperatures will drop another degree or two. near 50 at noon. same thing at 4:00. our best chance of isolated showers will be near the coast and mid 40s at 7:00. we have a real soaker coming this weekend. more on that next. here is jobina. >> good morning. we're taking a live look in the sierra, this is 80 at king vale

you can see the snow on the ground. the chain requirements have lifted. it would be good to bring them with you, there will be some changes coming to our weather. looking now closer to home, san jose, live look at 87, appears to be empty. everyone sleeping in. we are checking out our drive times here. tracy to castro valley, 30-minute ride. highway 85 to the airport, 10 minutes. the first major storm of the season is still causing problems up and down the golden state. >> especially a problem on a busy california highway spot. chp is escorting drivers through the grapevine because of snow. caltrans had to briefly close the pass again last night because of these whiteout conditions you're seeing. the pass was shut down almost 12 hours the night before. officials are pushing drivers to detour using 101 due to those

slick conditions. and also in southern california, interstate 15 at the cajon pass is reopened after being partially closed for hours due to accidents and snow. thousands of drivers crawled over the pass yesterday. those conditions are treacherous. they had some thinking they might need to find a motel room. >> it's scary. coming up the pass, the 15 here was a lot of hydroplaning, a lot of stop and go. >> might you stay up here tonight if it gets too bad? >> probably. >> roads leading to the big bear ski area outside of los angeles were also closed. that left a lot of holiday skiers trying to get in and out of the area stuck. in the sierra, chains are required on interstate 80 from kingvale to donner summit. caltrans warns if you're headed into the sierra, carry your chains even if you're traveling on roads where they're not required. in the north bay, a powerful storm forecast for this weekend is raising concern. the national weather service is

expected to issue a flash flood watch or warning in sonoma county. heavy rain could have detrimental effects by areas burned by the kincade fire. if the storm becomes an atmospheric river weakened trees could fall on to the roads or cause landslides in areas where grass burned. happening now, shoppers are out taking advantage of black friday deals. >> a lot of people were at the stores yesterday trying to get a head start. laura anthony has the details. it's not all about the turkey for those who opted to spend part of their thanksgiving shopping. >> what did you get? >> two razor scooters. one for my niece and nephew. original price is 29.99. it was on sale for $18. >> reporter: walmart in san leandro one of a few stores that opened early and stayed that way. >> the newest grandkid. >> reporter: convenient those lookg to get a jump on d buying.

francisco, even pacifica, 47 degrees. here's your commute. fiy, the police are out on the bay bridge this morning. slow down. driving, bay commute, mass transit all fair today. there's a few damp areas, a slight chance of a shower mainly near the coast. let's look at the north bay, 30s through 9:00. in the 40s up until noon. then we'll be around 50 for the afternoon, down to 40 already at 7:00. if you're heading out for tree lighting, dress warmly. east bay, 38 at 7:00. 49 at 11:00. a random shower possible this afternoon in the east bay. 46 at 7:00. a mix of sun and clouds in san francisco with upper 40s to near 50 from 9:00 through 7:00. here's a look at what's going on in the east bay valleys. we're looking at temperatures that will be running from 36 in the morning to low 50s from 11:00 to 4:00. we do have an atmospheric river coming this weekend. we'll talk about that coming up.

more wintry weather wednesday and thursday. we have breaking news out of fremont. police say they arrested five suspects after shots were fired at a fremont target as the black friday shopping was starting here. we're learning some information from their twitter account here with reporting the shots fired and some other information here. we are seeing here that the patrol officers arrested five suspects late last night for their involvement in a robbery with shots fired outside of the target store. i am also hearing now that they located guns as well as video games in a car naearby. a bay area woman and her two great grandchildren are back with their family after going missing on monday. family members began to worry about sandra young and her two

great grandchildren when they didn't show up in vallejo on monday. a license plate reader scanned young's plate in alamo yesterday and sent an alert to nearby residents. barbie linnon recognized the images on the phone. >> they traveled in and used the restroom. the kids didn't seem bothered or nothing. >> she notified the chp who made contact with young and brought her to her family. family members couldn't tell abc7 news where young and the great grandchildren were the whole time but they're happy they're safe. this morning president trump is back in the u.s. a a surprise trip to afghanistan for thanksgiving. this new video that we just got in of mr. trump getting off of air force one in palm beach, florida. this is where he will be spending the weekend lag mar-a-lago resort.

today. atmospheric river with flooding possible. we have temperatures close to freezing in the north bay tonight. the rest of us in the mid 30s to low 40s. here's a look at the bowl of cold air sitting on top of us. there's an area of low pressure here in this tropical moisture that will come up and join right on top of us this weekend. it's our first atmospheric river event of the year. why are those so important? they bring us up to 50% of our yearly rain total. at 7:00 in the morning, i'll be christmas shopping really early tomorrow. i don't want to be out in this in the middle of the day. do you? waves of moderate to possibly even heavy rain that continues overnight into sunday. and it may taper sunday but the intensity will increase sunday as thunderstorms are in the forecast. look at the potential rain total. look at the green, yellow and orange in santa rosa.
