be coming in tomorrow afternoon and evening. it's all quiet. look at the picture, though. as we see this storm intensifying off the coastline. it's really slowing down, so we are expecting this to be a level 2 moderate strength storm tomorrow afternoon through saturday. heavy rains at times, strong gusty winds and even the possibility of thunderstorms. there is a flash flood watch and includes the kinkade fire burn area. when you get 2 to 4 inches of rain on already saturated ground there's a pretty good possibility you'll see debris and saturday looking at gusts 50 miles an hour out of the south. here are some of the concerns for friday and saturday. ponding on the roadways, downed trees, power lines all likely hoods. river flooding and creek flooding, low likelihood. i'll let you know the time line coming up. in the north bay the rain brings concerns of flooding in

the kinkade fire burn zone. >> residents in santa rosa are racing against the clock trying to get themselves prepared. >> abc 7 reporter kris with how the city is preparing. >> reporter: we are in santa rosa's 24-hour city yard where residents can pick up a free bag and free sand this with a reminder from officials with very serious flash flood warnings home owners must do their part. >> we're clearing our strorm drains, our storm gutters and putting our insurance company on notice. >> the home was covered in soot from the kinkade fire and now they have to worry about flash flood warnings with heavy rain in the forecast friday to saturday. >> i'm more concerned about the water being contaminated and just contamination of anything that could be in that burn material. >> reporter: this is aerial

a pair of armed robbers hijacked a ups truck. both the ups driver and the bystander died when the chase ended in a shootout. >> reporter: the terrifying event just before 4:15 local time thursday. two armed suspects holding up a jewelry store. at least one injured during the robbery. >> they hijacked a ups truck and kidnapped the driver. >> reporter: a high-speed chase ensued. >> suspect behind that ups vehicle is extremely dangerous. >> reporter: the suspects waving through traffic, driving on the sidewalk, packages littering the highway as numerous police vehicles closed in, the chase ending in a barrage of gunfire as a man attempts to exit the truck. >> the armed suspects engaged law enforcement, opened fire. there was exchanged fire between law enforcement and the

suspects. and unfortunately the suspects are now deceased, but two additional innocent civilians were also deceased. >> reporter: among those innocent victims the ups driver and a bistander inside another car at the scene of the shooting. authorities now trying to determine how those victims died. ups issuing a statement offering condolences to the family and friends of the victims vowing to cooperate with the investigation. dave packer, abc news, new york. new developments. lafayette police have arrested two people have several home invasion robberies over the past two months. but the police chief says the investigation is far from over. >> these last two robberies seem to be much higher risk kind of robbers. >> just last night lafayette residents told the police chief their concerns. and then today the chief had news. two men have been arrested for not just the lafayette crimes but two others in the east bay as well. >> two suspects were arrested today. the first is 22 years old and

the second is 20 years old, both out of the city of fairfield. >> reporter: they're suspected of four home invasions in oakland on october 29th, in lafayette on october 31, and lafayette again on november 26. >> we served the search warrant, went into the home, collected evidence which included firearms. >> reporter: during the most recent home invasion in lafayette november 26th, the robbers bound and assaulted the two residents before taking off with personal items and valuables. the victims eventually freed themselves. >> when you make the decision to do a home invasion it's not just stealing something from somebody but going into the protected space of their home and using violence to commit that crime of theft for very good reasons our community and those around us and hopefully can take some nd taking the folks off the street. >> police are still considering the possibility of another

suspect. airbnb is taking more steps to crack down on parties. today's announcement comes just weeks after a deadly shooting in orinlda on halloween night. airbnb is now banning open parties. five people were killed in that incident in orinda. uber released its long awaited first safety report today that reports incident that affected drivers and riders during uber's 1.3 billion rides in the u.s. in 2018. 58 people were killed in crashes, 9 people were murdered. these incidents represent 0.002% of rides. and there are many ways to try to stay safe in your ride share. we have tips on that on our

you're going to see clouds and a few patches of fog out there with some reduced visibility. winds will be picking up across the region. 50s, 60s and you will notice that the rain is concentrated in the north bay initially. it's a level 2 on our storm impact scale. tomorrow afternoon and evening going into saturday heavy rain at times, strong gusty winds and yes there is a chance of thunderstorms. here's your hour by hour forecast. 10:00 a.m., tomorrow morning those winds gusting to about 30 miles an hour around half moon bay. they begin to increase as we go into 3:00 p.m. close to 40 miles an hour and topping 40 miles an hour tomorrow night you're looking at 43 mile per hour winds in half moon bay. the winds will ease a bit saturday morning but still remaining gusty as you will notice. don't be surprised if you see some trees going down or possibility of power outages. 8:00 tomorrow your commute is fine. you don't have to worry about wet roadways. by 2:00 p.m. it's all changing. light to moderate rain in the north bay.

some spotty showers popping up elsewhere, but you'll have to wait until later on in the night for 6:00 p.m. for the main front to start to cross san francisco, for the north bay. start to push into the east bay by 9:00 p.m., the south bay. this is when the heaviest rain is expected is during the nighttime hours and then a heavy batch of rain. saturday morning you'll notice oranges and yellows indicating some moderate to heavy rain. 1:00 in the afternoon on saturday it's going to be pouring and we'll go to scattered showers later on. rainfall totals look like this. they're going to be concentrated in the north bay and santa cruz mountains. almost 4 inches around santa rosa and then loman 3 inches of rain. half an inch in livermore to almost 2 inches in santa rosa. winter storm warning 4:00 p.m. tomorrow until 1:00 p.m. sunday. 1 to 3 feet above 5,500 feet.
