landings. sky 7 flew above the oakland international airport when flights followed their usual pattern. across the bay at sfo some flights also take off while most depart towards the east. but when the winds shift traffic patterns change in some of the america's most crowded airspace. let's take a look at the map showing the usual path of an air canada flight from vancouver to sfo. that flight flies southward and makes a u-turn before approaching over the bay. when the winds change it goes over the east bay. flights heading to oakland shift their routes along a similar pattern. one flight from hawaii followed a path above san francisco before landing towards the south in oakland. and another from new mexico flew across western contra costa county before making a sweeping turn above the middle of the bay
11:11 pm
toward oakland international. and for people living and working to the south of all three bay area airports they'll hear the sound of planes climbing towards cruising altitude on days when jets follow these modified flight plans. usually they'll hear the sound of planes descending. so it's different, right? and you should know this, when flight patterns change interestingly it happens at all three airplanes simultaneously so planes are coming and going in the same direction. in san jose, coming up i'll introduce you to the man who's spent months perfecting every detail of this holiday display. and that is not a dog. a coyote was seen running around today. >> it was purring and hissing at my dogs. >> and a mountain lion is prowling a neighborhood and it's attacking pit attacking pets, too. first, a look what's coming up on jimmy kimmel live.
