news to build a better bay area. this is abc 7 mornings. good morning, everyone. it's saturday, december 7th. i'm liz kreutz. let's start with a quick look at the weather and of course all the rain we are tracking. here is meteorologist lisa argen. good morning, lisa. >> good morning, liz. a level 2 on the storm impact scale. because we are expecting pretty strong downpours later on this afternoon. could see a thunderstorm some gusty winds and live doppler 7 right now showing you the scattered activity. you can see the north bay from the novato down through 580 looking at the rain. up to the north heavy rain around clearlake and middletown. into the south bay you can see the showers around evergreen south of san jose. but going offshore widening the view, it's looking like more showers on gathering into just

san francisco in the next maybe 30 minutes or so. but it's the feature north and west that ushers in the heavy downpours. because of that the national weather service reissued the flash flood watch from 10:00 this morning through 10:00 tonight for these areas here where we could see anywhere from two to three inches of rain with the heavy downpours this amp. it's 54 by the delta. 60 in hayward. compliments of some breezy winds this morning as we go through the around here comes thunderstorms marching across the bay area. throughout the heart of the afternoon some sunshine as well. we'll talk about how much rain you get in your neighborhood and what sunday looks like the week ahead as well coming up, liz. >> thank you. lisa. breaking news, police say three people are dead after crashing off of highway 24 in orinda. chp says this happened right around 3:00 a.m. going westbound right by the camino pablo exit. investigators say they believe the slick roads are at least one

at all three local airports. sky7 flew above the oakland international airport when flights followed the usual departure pattern heading northwest. across the bay at sfo some flights take off and land northwest while most depart toward the east. but when the wind shifts traffic patterns change in some of america's crowded air space. let's look at the map showing the usual path of the air canada flt flight from vancouver to sfo. during normal conditions that flight flies soulgt southward past sfo making a u u-turn above the peninsula or the south bay before proechlg the bay. when the winds change that flight now approaches sfo above the east bay following a cause takes it poff above the hilly parts of berkeley and oakland. flights to oakland shift routes on a similar pattern. one flight from hawaii followed a path above san francisco before landing toward the south in oakland. and another from new mexico flew across wernt contra costa county

before making a sweeping turn above the middle of the bay toward oakland international. for people living and working south of all three bay area airports they'll hear the sound of planes climbing to cruising altitude on days when jets follow the modified flight plans. usually they hear the sound of planes did he screeneding. dan ashley abc 7. helpful visual. when the flight patterns change it happens all a three arnts simultaneously so planes come and go in the same drengs. live doppler 7 one of the moech popular story on the website and news app. if you want to track the rain yourself click the blue live bar at the top of the app. new developments with pg&e. the utility announced a massive settlement with the victims of several major northern california wildfires. the company says the settlement is valued at about $13.5 billion. rchlg all claims from individuals in the 2017 northern california wildfires as well as the 2018 campfire.

the settlement will allow pg&e to emerge from chapter 11 bankruptcy by june of next year. pg&e is also paying claims related to the ghost ship fire and tubs fire but not admitting fault in either. in means that all major wildfires claims are set to be resolved. b.a.r.t. police say they have arrested a man who they satisfy sexually assault add women in a millbrae parking garage. investigators identified this man 38-year-old roberto marenco who they say is homeless. it happened in one of the garage elevator early yesterday morning when the trains weren't running. he was tracked down and taken into custody in concord late last night. this morning a dog fights for his live after his owner says the dog paet a potent mixture of drugs at a popular san francisco park. luz pena shows you the every day walk that turned terrifying. >> reporter: it was a regular walk at the park that almost ended in tragedy for the

3-year-old dog. >> his temperature peaked foup 108 degrees. he was shaking and drooling and was just out of control. >> jenny says the dog began to spin minutes after ingesting a substance. >> clearly the drug use in san francisco hit epidemic levels if we are concerned about walking dogs. >> according to the primary vets all the drugs could have killed him in a matter of minutes. >> and when we got the results he had methamphetamine and oxycodone in his system it was shocking. >> reporter: it's still unknown in what form the 3-year-old poodle mix ingested the drugs. he was transported to the san francisco spca for emergency treatment. the spca said we encourage all pet guardians to remain alert and vigilant while walking dogs especially in the city. according to the tech at the hospital where cases like this

around 40 degrees at the tahoe valley airport. but still a winter storm warning through 1:00 tomorrow in the mountains. this piece of energy offshore that's moving on shore throughout the late morning hours throughout the afternoon. bringing what could be some wild weather here. here a look at the golden gate bridge where you can see the clouds. 60? san jose. and this interesting shot where we have a bit of sunshine. the east bay hills camera, 57 in santa rosa and livermore. with 59 in napa. and 24 hours ago we were colder. so much milder due to the fwufty south winds. surface winds anywhere from 10 to 30 miles an hour. you go up about 1,000 feet and up to 40 miles an hour. the gusts from the diablo range and mount tam to right up above half moon bay. 30 to 40 miles an hour. throughout the amp with that front pushing through we get the gusty winds. now the wind advisory has been allowed to expire except through

the delta. but the winds will be with us as the rain march through the bay area this amp and then after sunset the winds dial back another pretty shot here from walnut creek. so showers and breezy this morning with downpours gusty winds. possible thunderstorms this afternoon. a few lingering showers for your sunday. here is the timing on it. 1:30 in the afternoon today we are looking at the downpours from cloverdale, santa rosa pushing into parts of the east bay. and just off the coast here so mid-afternoon, look, you can see the downpours from the south bay into the diablo range through the delta and some gusty winds. then the sun sets. a lot of the activity gone, the front moved through. scattered showers this is 6:00 tomorrow. through the afternoon more stable air arrives and we'll see the dryer sunday. anywhere from 0.2 to an inch and a half is what we expect throughout the rest of the day today. and that's due to the thunderstorms. so if you are in an area where you that.

but we are looking at the wet snow and snow levels above 650 oh feet to around 7,000 feet. one to two feet, veriy gust request winds. but looking at the rain at lake level. so as we go through the rest of the day today, really be advised that driving or heading out you get that break and then perhaps a thunderstorm. so today gusty winds, upper 50s to near 60 with the chance of a thunderstorm. that's why we have the level 2 and a flash flood watch from 10:00 this morning to 10:00 tonight for marin, sonoma appear napa. that's where we can see the heaviest rain. elsewhere lighter amounts. but still an active day out there with the sun and looking at a 1 on the impact scale tomorrow. don't be deceived. but after that a nice break. >> good to have the rain but i have to admit it's nice to see a break out there. >> the weekends have been very

this is abc 7 mornings. good morning, everyone for those of just joining us we start this half hour a lack at the weather. all the rain. here is meteorologist lisa argen. >> hey, liz, good morning to you. certainly a lot of rain and wind last night. but the level 2 storm system continues throughout the afternoon. a bit of a break out there. but we have scattered showers right now throughout the late morning hours. and the afternoon we'll have the possibility of thunderstorms. gusty winds and those heavy downpours. a look at live doppler 7 we can see the scattered showers up in the north bay off coast of san francisco and going in closer to around novato and forest knowles. up north heavier rain on highway 1. you can see san francisco dry. but there is showers offshore of monterey. as you look offshore that little feature off the northern california coast that's a strong area of low pressure and cold front that will be working through the bay area today. that's why the national weather service has issued this flash

is needed to get it back to better than before. sometimes guys have an idea whapt they want the fridge to look like but i'll never make two look the same. so most of the time they'll trust me with the design. the money -- i mean it's endless. everywhere from $500 to .00,0 y customize it. i did one once and put it on ebay and ended up trading a '61 lincoln continental for it. i would say to date that's the most somebody has paid. this is the kandy van shop fridge. a lot of people might say this is excessive with everything going on. you have air brush roses. pin striping, probably eight layers of paint in here with a light-up emblem says built in chicago. because that's important i live not only but work in chicago. and it keeps the beer cold.
