parents shutdown an oakland unified school board meeting. things remain relevantly calm as protesters used a creative tactic to protest budget cuts. anser. >> reporter: when the protesters wouldn't stop the school board once again moved their meeting and this is the school board that yesterday submitted a letter of intent to recall the school board president. tonight's protests came in the form of parodies. this comes a day after london was served a notice to recall. >> there are members that ed to go. people need to be held responsible for the behavior of october 23rd. >> at the october 23rd meeting police were called to hold back

prote protesters. several parents were injured, but tonight the issue was on the school budget. the coalition oakland is not for sale claimed the district mismanages money with little accountability and few metrics to prove which policies are actually working. >> this is one of the wealthiest moments that we've had in the history of oakland and it makes no sense they should be closing schools at this time. >> london countered saying the money just isn't there. revenue is down and costs are up. she adds oakland has more schools to operate compared to other bay area school districts. >> oakland has 36,000 students in 83 schools. fremont has 45,000 students and 42 schools. >> reporter: now the school board voted to categorize their budget as what's called qualified status. that means they may not have the money to meet their financial

man appears to fall or slip from the awning of a ground floor building. >> originally he's like up 60, 70 plus feet, so that fall would have killed, but at the same time that's like really bad. >> reporter: after he fell police loaded him on a gurney and took him to a hospital. police are not identifying him at this time. dan, back to you. >> lauren, thanks very much. new developments in the efforts to build a better bay area. san francisco has now launched an online tool to make it easier to get mental health or addiction treatment. the treatment shows the realtime number or location of treatment beds. it's part of an initiative to help the roughly 4,000 people in san francisco who have mental illness or substance abuse issues get the treatment they need. a woman accused off

deliberately running over a barber is in custody now. she's accused of ramming her car into a barbershop during a dispute over her son's haircut on wednesday. the victim 63-year-old brian martin is recovering from surgery. there you see him giving the thumbs up. he's doing okay. happening now, a live look on capitol hill where tonight the house judiciary committee took the first steps towards voting on the articles of impeachment against president trump. democrats introduced two articles of impeachment against trump yesterday. they charged trump with abuse of power and obstruction of congress related to his dealings with ukraine. tonight's meeting is to amend the articles setting the stage for a possible full house vote. republicans say it's all an effort to overturn the 2016 election. >> what has our committee, this great committee come to? >> abc news reports if the house does vote to impeach trump, senate republicans want to move

quickly eyeing a trial of just about two weeks duration. new details on that deadly shooting in jersey city. a large crowd gathered to mourn the victims. abc news reporter megan tevrizian has the latest now from new york. >> reporter: this video no circulating online is part of the investigation for law enforcement. showing the van pulling up outside a kosher market, two people exit the stolen u-haul and enter the store. it all started when jersey city detective joe seals investigating the murder of an uber driver encountered the suspects at a cemetery. police say they killed the officer, a father of five, and then driving a mile to that jewish market at just afternoon. >> there are many other targets

that they bypassed. clearly that was their target. >> reporter: police say the two gunned down the owner, an employee, and a customer. >> a few hundred bullets went into the body of a 24-year-old child. how can we as a community, as people bear that. >> reporter: anderson and graham believed to be followers of the black israelites. president trump today calling them wicked murderers. >> we vow to crush the monitress evil of anti-semitism. >> reporter: the suspect david anderson has a previous history of weapon offenses in 2007 and 2011. graham has been described as a former home help aid who met anderson after she got hurt at work and left her job. two of the victims were laid to rest on wednesday night.

caught in the act. here's a package thief the likes of which we've not seen before. a security camera captured a squirrel committing the crime in los angeles. here's the theft in slow motion. someone saw the furry bandit in the act and returned the package to the owner. the squirrel apparently could be a serial offender. the apartment owner says he often finds his deliveries in nearby bushes. well, part of building a better bay area includes finding ways to be more efficient. tonight the menlo park fire district introduced a fire truck, the first of its kind. in the near future we could see this battery powered fire engine putting out fires. >> reporter: many across silicon valley are in search of the next big gadget. without necessarily having to rely on fuel itself. in menlo park district leaders are looking to bring the world's first all electric fire engine to the bay area.

>> i was told the fire service is 200 years of tradition only impeded by progress. well, we're throwing that out. >> reporter: the chief says rosen bower, an austrian based fire fighting tech company reached out three years ago. he was skeptical but trusted the fleet mechanic it would also eliminate need for diesel. the list goes on. >> it's the future and unless people embrace it, they're going to be left behind. >> reporter: but we've seen a battery powered pursuit leave fremont pd behind. the tesla wasn't fully charged and ran low on juice during the chase. >> i think you have to sometimes fail too to say how does that never happen again? >> reporter: to avoid that problem he says the new fire engine would come with a redundant system or a backup. >> we're going to be one of the

needed to burn off their calories and linked to healthier choices. researchers called them pace labels and say they could cut the number of calories we cume by up to 200 per person per day. more information is always a good thing, right? let's turn to the weather forecast. rain is out there tonight. meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking it. >> i love how you guys come to me after a calorie cutting story. let's show you what it looks like right now. we do have some spotty showers right around san francisco, daily city, mainly south city as you will notice right around fleet wood drive into san bruno. this is street level radar as we get you into the east bay around pleasanton, foothill road, it is a little damp out there. seeing anywhere from a few hundredths all the way to a half an inch in santa rosa.

so this is not a big storm. this is just a moist flow that is keeping those showers going. and it is so moist that we're seeing some dense fog around the region. visibility down to three quarters of a mile in half moon bay, 2 1/2 miles in napa, just over a mile in santa rosa. something you'll need to watch out for in the morning. it is so mild outside you may have felt it. it feels a lot like seattle with the damp conditions out there. we do have a high surf advisory. surf is building. northwesterly swell 12 to 13 feet. watch out because there is a higher rip current risk. this is pretty much what you're going to see tomorrow morning is a few showers, some fog out ut there. definitely watch out for some drizzle overnight and an unsettled pattern through saturday. it's a level one for tonight. tomorrow spotty light showers, additional rain and high surf is

expected for tomorrow. so as we go into your morning commute, 5:00, you will notice some green there indicating scattered light showers. 8:00 a.m. as well, so you will need that extra time. your commute might actually take you longer. around noontime keep those umbrellas handy because you will still see some showers out there. and that trend continues until about 5:00, 6:00. a few more trailing at 7:00 p.m., and then those showers are done. additional rainfall totals you will notice it's pretty a few hundredths of an inch to a few tenths in half moon bay. temperatures will be on the mild side, low to mid-60s for most of you, and level 1 for tomorrow, fog and showers. keep the umbrellas handy because you have more rain coming friday afternoon into saturday. and then we get a break sunday, monday with some peeks of sun before the next storm comes in tuesday into wednesday.
