bay area from abc 7. >> you rarely see this amount of stolen stuff at any one time. it's all worth about $2 million. the criminals were breaking into cars, homes, and stores to get it. authorities label this effort operation low focus lens. it's their third big bust. >> the others were called operation tangled web this past october and operation wrecking ball last december. >> good evening i'm dan ashley. >> laptops, cameras, phones, and purses were just some of the stolen items authorities displayed in san francisco today. >> melanie woodrow is live in union square where some of the items are believed to have been stolen. melanie. >> reporter: that's right. this is retail theft, package theft, and of course in san francisco car break ins. here's one of the things that these criminals were supposedly doing. they were taking stolen cell phones and then wrapping them in

alumin aluminum foil in an attempt to block the signal and avoid detection. that didn't work. tables of electronics, home care items, and womens' hand bags all stolen according to sfpd and all now recovered from law enforcement. operation focus lens disrupted a large scale pence fencing operation. the total price tag of the items, more than $2 million. >> it breaks your heart. >> heartbreaking because nearly all of it belongs to someone. >> just the way that rely on digital devices now having a lot of our personal things on there, having that taken away just is devastating. >> noel knows the feeling.ng. she's had her phone stolen twice. now. >> i can just tuck it up in here. no one can get close enough to me to get my phone and if they do, i'll kick them. >> criminals took apart phones and laptops for parts to sell online.

>> what creates incentive to break into cars and homes is if you can quickly turn whatever you stole into money. >> reporter: one location investigators honed in on consistly mounts a high number of packages out of state. it's not unusual to see car break ins in san francisco but the stolen goods were also coming from retail stores. officers raided a storage facility that belonged to one suspect that found $750,000 worth of tagged clothing. arrests were made but they're not ready to share that information yet. and of course what investigators really want to do is get all of these stolen items back to the people who they long to. in order to do that, they say they need to hear from you. if you've had a phone stolen, laptop, tablet, anything you saw in that video, they're asking you to get in touch with them. it's super helpful if you have the serial number but but but bt

spotty showers and drizzle out there. i'll take you where we are seeing wet roadways, right around patterson pass. you will notice right around flynn drive, also flynn road. just very spotty, very light. i would hang on to the umbrellas because you're going to run into wet roadways. as you step out of your car, you'll need them. wider perspective, the moist flow continuing and that's keeping the showers and drizzle around. very spotty in nature like i said. but this system is really kicking up the surf. high surf advisory. 13 foot waves now. the northwest swell 12 to 14. breakers 16 to 22 feet possible. and that means rip current risk is high. i'll be back with hour by hour timeline of the next round of rain. >> thank you so much. of course all this rain is adding up. take a look at the maps from the u.s. drought monitor. on the left showing the state last week, 85% abnormally dry.

redwood city. abc 7 news reporter chris rhea spoke to residents sounding the alarm about what they're calling a dangerous intersection. >> i was on my way to school taking the 274 up and we got blocked right here. >> this is sky 7 over the crash involving a bus and a pedestrian. police confirming that a 70-year-old woman was hit and killed around 9:00 a.m. the bus was traveling southbound when it happened. four people were on board. no one else was injured. >> we've got a ton of congestion from parents picking up kids and there's no left-hand turn ciggal na. >> residents who live around here tell me they've been worried about this intersection for a while, that they've had their own close calls. this september, a pedestrian was hit by a police car and take ton the hospital in serious condition at this very same cross street, james avenue and el camino royal. the pedestrian was hit by a

killing tree killing keith green. the jury found lee not guilty last month. prosecutors say he violated his plea agreement by contacting a defense witness. he's expected to be sentenced to time served next month for disposing of green's body. oakland mills college is in such dire financial straits it's selling a rare copy of a collection of shakespeare in an effort to ease budget deficit. we talking about shakespeare's first folio. it was published in 1623 and changed the future of english literature. it's believed to be one of 235 copies remaining. experts say the first folio is expected to jant milliogeneratef dollars at an auction. mil mills acquired the gift in 1977.

afternoon going into saturday. scattered showers up to a third of an inch of rain expected. so, tomorrow morning you will see plenty of cloud cover around 8:00 a.m. and fog as we head into 1:00 p.m. rain moves into the north bay, a few showers can't be ruled out in the east bay. but as we go into 3:00 p.m. you see widespread showers across the region, 10:00 p.m. more coming through. and then we hours of saturday mrning around 4:00 a.m. you will notice spotty returns, mainly east bay, peninsula, north bay you're starting to see sun. you get a break most of saturday until saturday night when the next round of showers comes through here. we're not expecting a lot of rain with this. this is just going to be up to a third of an inch in the wettest spots in the north bay. most of you it's going to be anywhere from about .1 of an inch to .015 of an inch of rain from tomorrow through saturday.

winter weather advisory until saturday in the sierra. expecting up to 15 inches for the peaks. prepare for possible difficulty. take the chains if you are going to head up to the mountains for this weekend. first thing in the morning, 40s, 50s, fog will be around. dense in patches again so watch out. you're looking at temperatures in the 50s, 60s, not as mild as today. will need the rain gear as we are expecting showers across the region. the accuweather 7 day forecast, level one for friday and saturday, morning fog, afternoon rain w. very the scattered showers for saturday. and then sunday/monday, you get a break. most of tuesday you're fine as well. but tuesday night we have a chance of showers and the next storm really gets in here wednesday going into thursday. that one looks a little stronger and definitely colder. so, that'll definitely drop more snow in the sierra nevada midweek. >> thanks sandy, very much. >> from tvs to cubes to bars.
