that breaking news in fremont. police surrounding a five story building. this has been fwoing on for hours a refuses to come down from the roof. >> the man is suspected of a home invasion robbery from earlier today. he ran to a construction site and got onto the roof. police are still negotiating with him. we're live at the scene with more. >> police tell us the suspect has been up there for at least four and a half hours behind me you can see the heavy police presence at this hour. negotiators try to get that man to come down. take a look at the video. the man can be seen on the roof of the building. police say he was involved in a home invasion robbery earlier this morning around 10:30. not too far away. a detective spotted him at the

construction site about an hour later. since then, police and fire have launched multiple drones to see what the suspect has been doing while on the building. nay are able to see what he has access to in terms of material and equipment. we stopped flying sky 7 at the request of police. it appeared to be agitating the suspect. a very fluid situation out here. one point the man was throwing gasoline cans and tools off the roof. >> this neighborhood used to be really nice. so it's kind of disturbing to see -- yeah. very worrisome. >> the building under construction is on warm springs boulevard near brown. this is a few blocks from the bart station. roads in the area remain blocked off and the traffic is backed up to mission boulevard.

released. this is the 32nd homicide in san jose this year. police are looking for a suspect following a shooting outside a bar that left two men wounded. in front of downtown joes brew pub on main street. around 1:00 this morning. the shootings likely stem from an argument between two groups inside the bar. the men were streeted at the hospital for not life threatening wounds. >> gun buy back events taking place this weekend. san francisco community organization hosting the buy back event from 8:00 to noon tomorrow. on it headquarters. the event held in cooperation with the san francisco police department pays $100 for a handgun. $200 for a semi-automatic weapon no questions asked. it helped remove some 16,000 guns off the street since 2014.

this week we have been reporting on the city of san francisco losing business. we had oracle not holding the conference in the city because of high cost as well as dirty stroets. >> yesterday we told you that some businesses at pier 39 are saying the dirty streets are driving tourists away. many of you responded to the story by reaching out with your opinion. >> here with more on the story. you have been talking to people for this. >> a will the of businesses that are closing. pier 39 really reached out to us yesterday businesses at pier 39 frustrated with the condition of the city told me that city hall has to do a lot more to solve this problem. and not just by saying we're working on it. that's what they told me. >> pier 39 one of the safest places in san francisco because it has its own security.

yesterday here we spoke with the president and ceo of the san francisco chamber of the commerce and asked if we thought the mayor and city hall are doing enough to clean up the streets. >> it's a huge problem. there's work to do. we'll have local answers to the local problem. we support willing to work with may your and the board. to get the job done. and make san francisco a great city. >> let me add, this is important. one of the things that the mayor has working in her favor is many people, businesses, etc. still believe in her. a lot of people have given up on the homelessness problem. they haven't given up on her. that goes a long way. they have faith in her. >> that being said i think we need to ask the question of the people themselves. where they're coming from. lt tourists and what are they seeking. is it tourism? is it the services? what is it? >> the city will be quick to

tell you the people the vast majority of the people who are homeless are san francisco residents. we have to rely on that. they collect on the data. and collect the information. we report that. we also go out on the streets and we see and talk to the homeless. and i can tell you a lot of the people come from places like florida. alabama, montana, out of state. because they say, why are you here? i heard about the services in san francisco. and that's something you cannot deny. they are clearly coming for that. i have another story, one is that there was given to me by a supervisor. a brother was reunited with his younger brother. he brought him took him from san francisco to michigan or wisconsin. to get him ay from the drugs. and he was doing fine.

a desperate call for more toy nations. the program is falling short this year. >> we did the story last night. the program organizers say since the story aired, toys and donations have been coming in from all over the bay. why the need is so great. >> i have never seen the shelves bare. empty like this. >> for over two decades the richmond fire and police toy program has never looked like this. >> usually they're over flowing. with toys. we get a will the of donations at this point. right now we're falling short. >> short of donations and time. >> we're one week out from the event. we have only filled the bags of half of the families who signed up. >> with the december 20 deadline fast approaching. the fire department and the police department posted on facebook asking for help.
