francisco. a two-car crash we're looking at t. doesn't look like injuries have been reported. this is northbound 101 at hospital curve blocking one lane right now and you can see that a slowdown is beginning to form. i was just checking the speeds. it looks like they're averaging 33 miles an hour in that area. a live look here walnut creek looking good. moving but certainly filling in now that our commute is getting under way at 6:01 this morning. checking in a live look at the golden gate bridge where things are pretty clear. reggie and kumasi? >> thanks, jobina. in the south bay a man suspected of stabbing a woman before taking their 2-year-old daughter is in jail in santa clara county. >> the situation led to an amber alert. strangers ended up cornering the suspect at a gas station in cambria, about 200 miles south of san jose. the suspect identified as victor had locked his keys inside a van at a gas station. his 2-year-old daughter was inside. video shows people surrounding him before police arrived and then made the arrest.

the gas station manager watched it all unfold. >> and so he went over behind him and grabbed him in a chokehold or a bear hug and held him until police came. >> the girl's mother was found slumped over in a car not far from her home. he is being held without bail. video police tweet this had photo of a car being towed. a western was cited. about 100 people were at the sideshow. someone in the crowd fired shots and a police vehicle was damaged. no one was actually hurt. new york police are searching for a second tebow wanted in the tex with the murder of student tessa majors. they are searching for a 14-year-old they thought would surrender monday night but did not. police were led to that teen by a 13-year-old who is already in

custody and due in court today. majors was stabbed multiple times by a group of teens last wednesday during a robbery. majors was wrapping up her first semester when she was killed. developing news this morning on the impeachment showdown. tomorrow is a full and final house vote on the two articles of impeachment against president trump. the rules committee is meeting today to set the groundwork for how tomorrow will go. this comes as leaders are clashing over how a possible impeachment trial might look. democrats are demanding to hear from four witnesses the white house previously blocked from testifying. mitch mcconnell says he is looking to start in the second week of january.

a proposed hotel and housing development is up for discussion today. the project would also include restaurants and a spa across from chase center. the commission on infrastructure oversees the area. today it will discuss what needs to happen. ups is recovering after a nationwide outage with the height of the holiday shipping season days away. you still have some time to make sure the gifts get to family and friends on time. reporter julian glover is live this morning. save christmas, julian. >> reporter: this is a message for all of our last-minute folk out there. if you like waiting until the last minute you're not out of luck yet. you can take those packages to

the ups store and fedex. they should be back up fully running and functional after a nationwide system outage causing delays at their 4,800 stores all across the country yesterday. a spokesperson saying that they are back in business and they should be able to process all requests today. they've regained online access and say all locations are conducting business as usual. deadlines are quickly approaching to get the holiday gifts under the tree by christmas and if you wait until the last minute the reality is you're going to have to pay up. >> if you're willing to pay a lot extra you could ship as late as the 23rd and get it in time for christmas. that's going to cost you more, though, and you run the risk of unforeseen delays including weather. >> reporter: at this point you know you're going to have to pay

up some. it will cost you more money to get the package under the tree by christmas. let's talk about your deadlines of getting things there. for ups the last day december it 23. for fedex december 21 for standard overnight, fedex priority and fedex first overnight and for usps that deadline to get things under the tree by christmas eve is going to be the day before on december 23rd. there are so many packages and so many gifts that people are sending across the country. 800 million packages touched by ups alone. so there is a lot of shopping that is clearly happening. in santa clara, i'm julian glover, abc 7 news. now i have a good excuse. thank you, julian. yes, i do. if there's a problem with the present i haven't even picked out yet.

welcome back, everyone. 11 people hurt after a van crashed into the front window of a ross seemingly as a getaway car for a shoplifter who was inside the store. it happened in the city of burien outside of seattle. three people are in critical condition including a 2-year-old boy who was in a stroller, the child's 41-year-old grandfather and a man in his 30s. detectives say when the van smashed through the window, a woman shoplifting inside got into the passenger seat and witnesses say it was a blur. >> he came through very fast, a white utility van. people at the cash register just got plowed over. >> both the driver and the woman shoplifting were caught and arrested. congress could raise the

federal age to buy tobacco to the age of 21 as part of a new spending bill. the bipartisan legislation is part of the massive government funding bill expected to pass by the week's end. the change would make it illegal for anyone under 21 to purchase e-cigarettes and vape products. the minimum age to buy tobacco products in california is already 21. another airport is allowing visitors to go past security. the pilot program last year in seattle was so successful it's brought the program back permanently. friends and family who want to send their loved ones off can get a visitor pass. they'll get confirmation the next day after a security check. sea-tac was the first to create a pilot program for that policy. >> i love it. >> what do you love about it? >> i think when you're traveling and sometimes, first of all, the restaurants are better inside in a lot of cases, and then you have to go out and come back through security, it's too much when you have a short layover or

for tonight we'll have 38 in lake port, the cool spot. san mateo at 49. look at all of that yellow and orange. those are the moderate showers rolling through. seeing some radar returns in sonoma and up to lake and mendocino counties. it is way too dry. the better part of the day trying to moisten the atmosphere. the clouds will try to dust one of the higher mountains with snow. at 7:00, mainly dry. a lot of gray out there. the north bay coast, the peninsula coast seeing the rain roll in. tomorrow morning is going to be a bear because it will be wet and raining. by 5:00 tomorrow evening, everything is fine. we'll dry out and much easier to get around.

a quarter of an inch and there you go up in the north bay up to three quarters of an inch to a quarter in the south bay when the rain ends late. a break, warmer thursday, friday, saturday and then damp sunday and showers monday. good morning. a slight issue in fremont now. a car has a flat tire in the fast lane. the issue is the person is out of the car and changing their tire in the middle of the lane. people are trying to get out of the way. it's just dangerous to do that especially when it is dark out still. please be aware if this is a part of your commute. very slow as people head westbound. there is no exact reason why it just looks like it's beginning to fill in. i'm seeing some slow spots as well, the drive time isn't too

right now we do have an active live doppler seven on mt. st. helena but nothing that i hear is reaching the ground. it's just way too dry. here is a look at the sutro tower and 35 and 49. not quite as cold as yesterday. mid to upper 50s at noon with less sunshine at 4:00. we're seeing rain near the coast. >> at the live desk breaking news we're following. authorities are investigating a double homicide just outside vallejo city limits. deputies and police rushed out to the scene on hargas avenue near east orchard avenue. a fight broke out at a home overnight. in the end two men were found dead. at least one shot to death. a was taken to the hospital. a sheriff's deputy says neighbors are not in danger this morning. >> there's no further reason for the public to be aware. we believe the parties involved

are on scene and we just wanted to let the community know we'll be out here for a while investigating. >> we'll continue to follow this story and bring you the latest updates. a car theft suspect landed in the hospital with a burn and a family without a home. >> 29-year-old raul anthony rodriguez was driving a stolen vehicle near lewis and senter roads in san jose yesterday. officers tried to pull him over. instead he took off on foos and broke into a home on santee river court. the homeowner was able to escape. at 5:45 the house caught fire with the suspect inside. >> by the time they got here the house that was burning was fully engulfed that i could see from the street. >> the suspect is facing several charges. happening today san francisco mayor london breed

will get a tour of a new homeless navigation center. >> it's been really controversial from the start and neighbors are still uneasy about it. reporter amy hollyfield is live with those details. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning, kumasi, the embarcadero navigation center can hold up to 200 homeless people and costs about $4 million to build. we see some crews putting final touches before the mayor gets here today. the center, though, is very controversial. residents pointed to this video, this is an example of security concerns, a homeless man attacking a woman in the lobby of her building captured by the surveillance camera. the woman has since moved away because of the attack. her former neighbors are worried that the navigation center will bring more crime to the area.

>> worried more criminal activity can happen. >> we are a little concerned definitely because we have a kid so worried about safety. >> my kid picking up needles and syringes off the street. >> reporter: there are several condominium building with units going for $1 million. this is right underneath the bay bridge on the embarcadero located between bryant and brannon. homeless advocates think there should be a center in every neighborhood. it's a disgrace to live in a city with so many billionaires but you can't get everyone a safe bed at nice. again, very controversial. neighbors took the issue to court and lost. here is the certainty ready to open. the mayor will be here at about 11:00 this morning. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news.

also happening today sonoma county leaders will announce emergency measures to deal with the homeless crisis. it includes possible creation of short-term shelters at the county fair grounds. this is sky 7 over an encampment along highway 12 near the fair grounds. one of the goals is to try to find temporary shelter. it would have 24-7 security. about 3,000 people are homeless in sonoma county. >> pg&e has until the end of the day to submit a plan. governor newsom says the current plans doesn't meet the law. it would allow the company to emerge from bankruptcy before a june 30th deadline. the governor has rejected that. and yesterday abc 7 news spoke with protesters outside pg&e headquarters who approv of newsom's decision. >> it's more important to reach

a settlement that is complete rather than reaching one just to make it quick. >> pg&e says we believe our restructuring plan meets the requirements of assembly bill 1054. we will continue to work dill gently in the coming days to resolve any issues. a california groom killed the same day he said i do. the wedding night murder now under investigation this morning. also looking at the big board up 60 points. and time is running out if you want to get those gifts shipped before christmas. the big issue that popped up during one of the busiest weeks of the year. we'll get to those stories in a few moments. first i'm over here checking out the temperatures with mike. >> kind of chilly out there. not as frosty as yesterday but a few people are dealing with it. let's show you our neighborhood temperatures in the south bay, 37 at santa teresa, morgan hill, 39 in campbell and sunnyvale.

tahoe we have a chance of light snow tomorrow. we'll get a break getting up to tahoe but coming home sunday or monday will go from moderate to light snow. at the live desk following new details on a heartbreaking story out of southern california. police say this groom was brutally murdered on his wedding night. a new go fund me is raising money for funeral services. friends say he was a loving son, brother, and father and so much more. police in the city of chino arrested two suspects tied to the murder. detectives say this happened sunday morning near his wedding party. they believe he suffered some sort of blunt force trauma. investigators are investigating what prompted this attack and we will update you as soon as we learn more. ups is recovering after a nationwide outage with holiday shipping deadlines around the corner. you still have time. reporter julian glover is live with everything you need to know this morning.

julian? >> reporter: you still have time, some time, kumasi. not a whole lot. there is a bit of a holiday shipping alert this morning and it's coming to us from amazon. i'm sure a lot of people will be doing their shopping on the website. amazon says it is blocking third party sellers from using fedex using a drop in delivery performance by the company which means if you're shopping from a smaller business through amazon there may be less options. fedex says it only impacts a small number of shippers but limits the options for those small businesses on some of the highest demand shipping days in history. ship directly to friends and family if you're thinking about just ditching the wrapping process altogether. walmart, target, best buy, your orders must be placed by early friday. macy's you have until noon on

of showers. a few leftover showers during tomorrow's evening commute and then that's it. let's take a look at the rainfall totals and through tonight pretty much everybody is dry. after that look at this, by tomorrow morning we're waking up to wet streets. and then we'll still have a chance of some slick spots thanks to that quarter to three quarters of an inch of rain. warmer and drier thursday and friday. a 1 for saturday, sunday and monday and cooler. there was a flat tire in the fast lane of southbound 680 that was causing quite a bit of a slowdown there all cleared up. looking live now in emeryville. lots of headlines. metering lights came on at 5:11. look at that, you can see the sun rise a little bit, those pink and purple skies this morning.
