julian and kumasi? >> thank you. happening now, the house of representatives is preparing for an historic vote and a big day on capitol hill. >> later today president trump will become the third ever u.s. president to be impeached. ines de la cuetara joins us live from capitol hill with the latest. >> reporter: that historic vote moments away. the house is meeting at 9:00 a.m. to debate those two articles of impeachment against president trump and the final vote expected this evening. today the u.s. house of representatives is set to impeach president trump just the third time in u.s. history that's ever happened. president trump is accused of obstructing congress and abusing the power of his office for personal gain when he pressured the leader of ukraine to investigate his political opponents. >> mr. president, do you take any responsibility for the fact that you are about to be impeached? >> no, i don't take any. zero to put it mildly.

>> reporter: in a scathing six-page letter to house speaker nancy pelosi, the president slamming impeachment calling it an illegal partisan attempted coup and accusing pelosi of declaring open war on american democracy and adding, more due process was afforded to those accused in the salem witch trials. and in her own letter to democrats writing, if we do not act, we will be derelict in our duty. after a procedural vote mouse members will get one they'll get on last chance to debate the two articles of impeachment and have six hours to do so with time equally split between parties. the final vote held immediately after and is expected to pass along party lines with even many moderate democrats coming out in support of impeachment. lawmakers are now looking ahead to that senate trial.

fatigue as well. new details on an officer-involved shooting in san francisco's mission district 11 days ago. sfpd released body cam of the incident. officers were in the area of 23rd and mission street investigating a report of a hot prwl burglary and a burglary when they stopped jamaica hampton, a man who fit the description of both reports. the officer shot him three times after ran towards the officer armed with a glass bodial. last night community members, friends and family were at a town hall meeting hosted by police chief bill scott. >> he pulled himself from a dark place and was thriving. you tore him down. i'm disgusted. >> reporter: hampton is still in critical condition. in the south bay, a

50-year-old lyft driver accused of trying to lure a 13-year-old boy to have s.e.ex is due in co today. that boy was an undercover officer. kevin donvan snyder was arrested on monday. snyder continued to communicate with the officer even after he was told the a lot more news ahead a group of homeless moms in oakland are gearing up for a court fight to stay in the home they're now occupying without permission. next why the group of moms say they have the right to be there. and this leer looks ice cold. why eight swimmers are spending 11 days in a silicon valley pool. >> we'll get to all those stories in a minute. it does look cold, but earlier this week, we were worried about the cold, now it's shifting to the rain. >> any time we get some rain, it usually lifts the rain up.

the rain is the big story. here's a look from south beach at the western side of the bay bridge. you can see it's wet. it's raining right now. so caution no matter how you're commuting today, whether it's driving on the water or mass transit, everything will be wet and wind whipped this morning like the bay bridge is. a moderate shower over treasure island, that is heading over towards emeryville and berkeley. right around 238 and 580 and 880 come together, we have a moderate downpour there. also 80, 780 and 680, intense downpour from martinez, crockett, heading over towards american canyon. 101 is wet the entire way from the golden gate bridge up to mendocino county. here's a look at the peninsula, low 50s through 9:00.

the rainfalls apart this afternoon. it turns into snow as you head up to the sierras. we need to watch out for that. it's going to be moderate snow today. light snow tomorrow. just dry and breezy friday and saturday before more moderate snow sunday. >> this morning we are hearing from the brother of the groom killed outside of his own wedding reception. >> it happened early sunday morning in chino. witnesses say 30-year-old joe melagaza was trying to protect his family from unwanted wedding crashers but a fight broke out. two brothers showed up to the party, they were turned away but then returned with baseball bats that they used to beat the groom to death. on sunday afternoon police arrested the two brothers who live just around the corner from where the party was happening. >> i want the world to know my brother was a good man. he was there for everybody. he was happy that night. he had a big smile on his face. he was happy.

he made sure everybody there was having a good night. >> he leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter from a previous relationship and a new bride. a group of homeless moms in oakland are gearing up for what could be a high profile court battle. they moved into a vacant home and now they're using legal means to fight eviction. cornell barnard has the details. >> reporter: a community meeting in oakland's taylor memorial methodist church to support these homeless moms who recently found shelter with their kids at this vacant home on magnolia street by seizing it without permission. >> we've moved in and we've been keeping up the house. >> reporter: dominique walker says she's done nothing illegal. >> there's four vacant homes for every homeless on the street and that's criminal to me in winter. >> reporter: the group is part of moms for housing, dedicated, they say, to reclaiming vacant

housing. their website is direcollectingo donations for the cause. the house is owned by a southern california real estate investment company which says the women have no right to be there. >> unfortunately for these women they're going to be evicted. >> reporter: the woman won a temporary stay from eviction on monday. they'll appear before a judge later this month to argue why they should be allowed to stay in the house. owners are not optimistic. >> ridgewood is very sympathetic to the homeless situation and is major contributor to homeless causes and shelters out in california and the west, but it doesn't condone stealing other peoples properties, and that's what these individuals have done. >> reporter: the women already have many people on their side. >> my prayer is that they are allowed to stay. >> reporter: they'll be back in court december 30th. in oakland cornell bernard, abc 7 news. we want to show you something happening now. check out this monitor behind us. this is a live attempt at a guinness world record. >> yes. key word is live. it's happening at the google pool in mountain view.

you can see some yellows and oranges, downpours still plaguing the morning commute. as we head towards lunch, the yellows not nearly as widespread. they're still out there. heading into the evening commute, still looking wet. after that, 11:00, you can see a definite taper. tomorrow, fog will be the biggest issue. same thing on friday morning. temperatures in the afternoon will warm a couple degrees. we'll push 60 away from the coast. saturday, sunday, monday, we have 1 on the storm impact scales. the temperatures will taper back ito the mid 50s. good morning, jobina. >> good morning, mike. we are tracking a deadly incident in oakland. two separate crashes in the same spot. this is westbound 580 before lakeshore. one car spun out and crashed, another car crashed into a pedestrian there. all lanes on both sides of the highway are blocked now. westbound and eastbound side. they are working to get at least two lanes open on each side.

today. most of us about two-tenths to three-tenths. tomorrow, all of the rain is from calistoga, santa rosa northward. thanks. in the south bay, a suspected package thief is off the street thanks to police. officers in morgan hill were tipped off to a home surveillance video showing a man taking a package off the porch. police used this image to identify the man and stake out his hose. they arrested 26-year-old than vo. he may have stolen packags from several homes. >> in the south bay, vta is making big changes to its bus and light rail routes, it hopes to attract more commuters by increasing routes in 2019. the changes include more frequent services on many lines and connections with other transit agencies. vta is changing the name of the three main light rail lines. they'll be known as the blue, green and orange lines.

it took several days but an entangled humpback whale in monterey bay is free again. a fisherman reported the whale was wrapped in fishing lines last week. researchers looked for it for two days. they used buoys to slow the whale down and they were able to cut the line running across the whale's back. here's a look at what's going on for your commute today. this morning, we have intense showers. a evening will be easier as the showers taper but not much drying during the day. let's look at what will happen going into saturday morning at 5:00, some rain up across mendocino county. then as we head throughout the day, you can see the steady rain increasing. saturday will be a wash out for a lot of us.

heading towards sunday, it turns more into showers and monday even a lesser chance of showers. this storm will hit the sierra harder than today's storm with several feet of snow. getting up there and getting home will be difficult this weekend. good morning. we are following a deadly crash now in oakland. this is westbound 580 just before lakeshore. that is where you're seeing this crash. the westbound and eastbound lanes are blocked now. one person has died. these were two separate crashes. a spin out and another car that crashed into a pedestrian. emergency crews are out there on the scene. it looks like it will be a while before they get this cleared up. so that you know, traffic is being diverted on the westbound side at lakeshore. if you need an alternate, 880 would be your best route. you can see that 880 is moving smoothly at the coliseum.
