rough surf. you can see the heaviest is starting to move towards the east. if you go back in time, you can see all the lightning bolts peppering the monterey bay. i even saw a bolt of lightning coming into work. it was like, whoa, exciting. i wouldn't be surprised if you found small hail and snow mixed together. my forecast for the rest of the day, heaviest this morning through 7:00, a little lull around noon and then a refiring of scattered showers this afternoon but most will be over by 7:00. >> police are seinvestigating a deadly shooting. a 29-year-old man was shot and killed. a 23-year-old woman who was also shot was taken to the hospital. she is expected to be okay.

another man suffered some kind of head injury. he was treated at the scene. police are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting. >> a 6-year-old was shot during a family holida gathering. it happened around 6:30 last night where police responded but did not initially find a vi detectives are still looking for information. so far police have not announced any arrests. a reminder to be careful on the road this christmas day. a speed driver died after hitting in tree in east anti-okay. the driver was going 80 miles an hour in a 45 mile-an-hour zone. a witness said she saw him trying to weave in and out of traffic when he started to fishtail. police say the driver crashed into a tree.

he was the only driver in a vehicle. >> it is christmas and today people will start delivering meals to thousans who cannot leave their home. at the salvation army kitchen, work is well under way this morning. good morning, amy. merry christmas to you. > hi, good morning. merry christmas to you, too! look behind me. i've got santa's elves here. these are santa's volunteers. they're preparing fresh meals. they got here at 5:00 this morning and they're going to deliver these meals. it is very early but the salvation army says this makes a huge difference to people on christmas day. >> hundreds of people will be delivering 4,000 meals for basically people who condition get out today. for most of those people, a salvation army person is the

we have some breaking news we want to tell but now. one person is dead after a crash in berkeley. you can see here highway 80 westbound lanes of gillman are blocked. this is from our emeryville camera. witnesses say the crash involves at least two cars. one of them caught fire. again, it is raining, the roads are slippery. please take it slow on the ro s roads. this sad to report one person has died this christmas morning. we'll bring you more news as it comes in. >> a lot of people in the bay area may be dreaming of a white

then. let's look at live doppler 7. you can see the western slope there and also into tahoe, it is snowing right now. these why we have to be you see where the red is heading. you can see the spray coming up from the cars there. we've got some early thunderstorms today and scattered showers for the remainder of this christmas day. freezing in our north bay valleys tonight, patchy fog out there as the clouds start to clear out and a slight chance of rain sunday. here's a look at our high temperatures today, in the 40s in lakeport and san jose about 55 degrees. tonight the freezing temperatures in the north bay valley, fog forms, we could have the same situation we had yesterday with freezing fog. clouds keep the rest of us to the upper 30s to mid 40s. it will not be raining tonight.

trevor alt, >> a family got an unexpected surprise today on bart. bart police officers first met cynthia and her two grand kids during a proof of payment inspection at the station. over time officers and the family got to know each other. cynthia's daughter surd a stroke about a year ago. since then her grandkids are been staying with her. she's been going from san francisco to richmond every day so they could continue to go to their school. i love this, the police officer association surprised the family with gift cards, toys and bart swag. it's such a sign of community in the bay area. >> now to a home in concord getting quite a bit of attention. from the front it looks like a home with regular holiday decorations. if you look closer, you'll find a little movie magic mixed right

things online and my daughter and girl friend have great craft skills that helped me through this. a lot of people think they're just going to drive by and then they pull over and they got to park and then they walk it and run back and then they walk it again. we see multiple people come back multiple times and say i didn't see that one over there. we sit inside. i have remotes to the bubble machine and i can hear 5-year-olds to 7-year-olds jumping up and saying "bubbles"! it's really rewarding. i joke around and say this is my last year but my neighbors might take my home away if i don't put it up. it's always good to give back because you always get something in return. >> oh, i hope there's no neighborhood grinches that take his house away. that is too cool.
