a war. iran supreme leader is vowing forceful revenge. here at home republican leaders voice support for the attack. democrats in congress agree soleimani was a threat but claim the president's decision done without consults them with destabilize the middle east and possibly lead to another war. >> pentagon is beefing up u.s. forces in the mideast in response to the killing. 3,000 soldiers in north carolina will be deployed to the region. just days of a 700 soldiers were sent to kuwait after the protests at the u.s. embassy compound in baghdad. >> steve daniels from station live. with the lathest on the deployment. >> there are as many as 3,500 families here tonight preparing to say good-bye to loved ones.

prepares for this deployment that they didn't see coming. they are starting the new year with uncertainty and so much worry. they got very little notice. they got word today that they will be shipping off their loved ones to the middle east. as you mention there were 750 soldiers who left here. the first group of troopers to head over there. the mission is not clear. the trump administration is only saying these men and women in uniform will be going there to bolster forces in the middle east. iran is promises retaliation against american interest. potentially against american diplomats approximate members of the military. this rapid deployment force that will be leaving north carolina this weekend. 3,500 more men and women in uniform headed over there. it is obviously time of high anxiety. worry and uncertainty. nobody knows if this is path to

it's been nearly seven years since three women bravely escaped a home from captivity. >> sitting down for an interview with the survives. we spoke about the interview. >> how are the ladies doing? >> a lot of people want to know. all these years later. that is in part why we're doing the special. we'll recount what happened all the years ago being held captive for ten years. more importantly who are they now? what are they doing now. three incredible women. who have made their mess their mess and. they're involved in organizations helping people who may have walked the same path. and just the resilience and

bravery is something to witness. >> they share their story with you. was it hard to open up to you about it? or have they gotten to a place where they can be open? >> that's a good question. they were very willing to talk about it. it is you can tell they would get emotional at times in recounting what happened. and we do go back but it's more about now and moving forward. it's really just letting people know that this too shall pass. ten year of captivity and come out as they have. so well adjusted and just enjoying and embracing life. >> it is very inspiring. was there anything the ladies said that stood out to you that is most memorable? >> i guess it was really aman da. having a bib by in captivity. having her daughter just turned 13 this past christmas. she's a teenager.

and she is sharing photographs that haven't been seen before. and she looks so much like her dad. so much like her father. and talking with her about that. she loves her -- she loves that girl so much. to the relationship that she has with her daughter and talking about how as a tarnl she's learning more and more about what happened. and how she's really walking that fine line. that was really it was heart wrenching but heartwarming. >> we remember the interview with the neighbor. you're checking in with him. what's it like it reconnect with him? everyone was like oh my gosh. his experience. what is it like now to check in with him. >> you wait until you hear from charles. 2.0. >> cannot wait. >> he is something else. so proud of himself and proud of

the girls. he is. to get his perspective on what happened and all these years later. in the pride he has in them. and the community. it's something. charles 2.0. tune in for that. >> i love how despite all of this they have gone through it's a story of hope. what do you want people who see this to take away from just all of it? >> i'm glad you asked that. i want people to take away from their story what they want you to take away. you never lose hope. think about that. for ten years they were missing. their family never gave up. they never gave up on themselves. whatever circumstance that they maybe in and you don't compare despair. but to know not to give up hope. that's something especially with gina. she's really a firm believer in the word hope.
