where you live. starting with the latest on the storm track with mike. >> watching a lot of wet weather out there. >> ponding on the roads as well. >> unfortunately. i know the commute this evening will be much easier. let's start with this morning. getting to jobina in a second. 6:00 straight up on a wet thursday morning. danville near sycamore valley road, going from dublin and pleasanton on 580 out towards livermore, coming out of the altamont pass, you will run into heavier showers. heavier showers around half moon bay, these are sliding to the southeast along 35 and heading over towards lajonda. you can see this is the steadiest rain we're going to have, just some minor showers moving through the north bay right now. the storm is a 1 on the storm impact scale with light to moderate rain. about a third of an inch. that's causing some ponding on the roadways, a chance of chor s

thunderstorms pretty much over. i'll show you more coming up. here is jobina. >> starting off with the bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights came on at 5:07 this morning. you can see those wet conditions out there. looking at a backup because of a crash in the tunnel at treasure island. i'll keep you posted on how things look there. i have a report of flooding in oakland, this is eastbound 80 to eastbound 24 in that area, that's where you can expect to see some standing water. a three-car crash in concord, 242 before solano, there's a backup now. going to leave you with a live look at the toll plaza so if you're headed that way you know what to expect. breaking news in san francisco, police are investigating a deadly crash on treasure island. >> it happened on 9th street and avenue h. that's where julian glover is live with what we know. good morning. >> good morning. what we know so far is that the

driver of this car was killed after hitting a parked car, continuing down avenue h. this is where this all ended just behind us. the car is now being loaded up on the back of that flatbed and it will be transported. it's taken police and the accident crew here, the reconstruction crew a while because this car, this white porsche was completely torn to shreds. want to show you the video of what we saw earlier so you can get a closer look and wrap your head around the impact of this crash. look at that car, completely obliterated. you can see the inside, the white interior, the white seats of the car. we are hearing the car slammed into a tree on the left side of the street on avenue h, that is when it broke into pieces and later breaking into a third piece. again, this morning, we're hearing the driver was the only person inside of the car who was killed. no other injuries are reported. we are hearing the car initially

hit was a parked car. back here live, you can see the car loaded up on that flatbed and will be transported out of here shortly. it's unclear how much longer avenue h will be shut down on treasure island. you can imagine the rate of speed the driver must have been going for the accident to result in that great of impact to the point that the car broke to pieces like that. reporting live this morning from treasure island, julian glover, abc7 news. at the live desk, the house is set to vote on a measure limiting president trump's ability to take military action against iran. democrats have criticized the u.s. killing of a top iranian general. it appears the democratic war powers resolution will pass despite republican opposition. the senate vote is not expected until next week. this morning mike pence spoke to george stephanopoulos on "gma." he spoke about what information has been shared with congress. >> when it comes to

intelligence, we have to protect sources and methods, there's only a certain amount we can share with every member of congress, but those of us who have seen all the evidence know that there was a compelling case of an imminent threat against american personnel. president trump was right to take the world's most dangerous terrorist off the battlefield. >> you can see that entire interview with the vice president coming up at 7:00 on "gma." meanwhile president trump is calling for a new nuclear deal and tougher sanctions with iran. he said he will not take military action against iran after two attacks on u.s. bases in iraq. the there were no casualties to u.s. or iranian forces. questions remain over what brought down the ukrainian airliner in tehran. all 176 people on board died in that crash. the plane went down two minutes after it took off from the capital of iran. this all happened less than three hours after iran fired multiple

missiles into iraq. there are no immediate signs these two events are linked and some iranian officials say it was a technical failure. the cause remains unclear according to ukrainian authorities. boeing, the maker of that 737 that crashed expressed sympathy for the victims. the man accused of kidnapping a teen outside of her middle school and sexually assaulting her will be in court today. he was arrested on rape and kidnapping charges. the 49-year-old sonoma man grabbed a 14-year-old girl off the street at knifepoint tuesday morning. he assaulted her, released her and tried to grab a second girl who was able to escape. both girls are students of altimira middle school. he was arrested a few hours after the attacks. in the east bay, neighbors are on edge following several burglaries in the middle the day. two burglars kicked in the front doors of homes in walnut creek yesterday. one break-in happened minutes after a family left their home. a neighbor called police when he saw two men wearing hoodies outside the house. a short time later, another

break-in was reported down the street. neighbors are on edge after losing irreplaceable items. >> there were three items that were personal of my dad, grandma that are gone. also baby diamond earrings i was going to give my granddaughter. >> the crimes are similar to several break-ins over the holidays in san ramon. crooks were caught on camera breaking into homes there. police say those crimes are not related. music physicians, listen to this, one-day tickets go on sale at 10:00 this morning for the bottl rock music festival in napa valley. more than 80 bands will perform on five stages during the three-day festival in may.

you can see some rain, even some heavier rain moving through the east bay now. even clearing and lighter spotty showers are up in the north bay. your morning rush will be the most affected by the wet weather with the more intense showers, we're have reports of ponding on the roadways. by the evening, this will all be dry. if you can get through the morning, the evening rush hour at least weather-wise will be easier. more rain coming up in the forecast. i'll show you that coming up. ring says it takes security seriously. it has fired four employees in recent years for accessing users video data. parent company amazon said the firings came after four complaints about employees who abused their access privileges. a hand full of senators first raised concerns about the issue

in november. changes are coming for uber drivers and passengers across the state. these are in response to california's new gig work law. it makes it harder for companies to claim that workers are independent contractors. one of the biggest differences, passengers will see a price range instead of getting a specific price before requesting certain rides. the final price for non-pool rides will be calculated at the end of a trip. price will be based on time and distance traveled. one advertising firm plans on packing more commercials into your movie-going experience and you cannot skip them by going up late. the ads will be run closer to the movie time instead of the previews. usually there's one minute of advertising for prime time spots, that one minute before the film could soon become six minutes. the agency says theaters are one

wet weather is the dumbarton bridge. future radar, i put the storm impact scale on there, heaviest showers this morning with the standing water that jobina talked about. over the next six hours, lightning not likely. the rain is pretty much over by noon. so it is a morning event. let's get over to jobina and talk about that commute. >> thank you, mike. good morning. the san mateo bridge is a part of your morning commute and you're heading westbound, once you get to the end of the bridge, you'll run into a t two-car crash there blocking two lanes. it's very slow for people heading westbound. a live look at the bay bridge from a caltrans camera, we're seeing the tunnel where there's a two-car crash inside the tunnel. an ambulance has been called out there. they're working quickly to move this out of the way for everyone this morning. have a couple of crashes to get to now. we'll start in concord. we have a three-car crash, southbound 242 before solano, no injuries reported there. there is a slowdown, still not out of the way yet. that happened a while ago.

roadway flooding in oakland, this is eastbound 580 to eastbound 24, you can expect to see some standing water here and standing water reported on 580 near the zoo. reggie and kumasi? >> thanks. new overnight, san jose police are investigating a hit and run after a man was hurt by a car in a parking lot. this all happened at the lion alvin center on alvin avenue at tully road. the suspect's vehicle is described as a dark four-door sedan. b.a.r.t. officials say service is back to normal tl after being shut down for hours last night between the concord and pleasant hills stations. a man that officials described as unstable refused to get off the tracks. this standoff left thousands of passengers forced to use a bus bridge between the stations. long lines were waiting for buses. the man was finally removed this morning. b.a.r.t. tweeted after 3:00, to the thousands of stranded riders last night, we offer our deepest apologies for the major delays.

our effort to spotlight stories that build a better bay area often lead us to b.a.r.t. this morning we're waiting to see if the agency will put new eyes and ears on its trains. b.a.r.t. is considering having unarmed civilians ride the trains at night. amy hollyfield has more on this. >> good morning. >> if this idea passes today, you will see teams of two roaming the trains looking for safety issues. riders we talked to say it sounds like a good idea. some of them do have some questions. the plan is to put civilian employees from the b.a.r.t. police department on to the trains. they'll be ambassadors. they'll be unarmed and trained in conflict negotiation. some people we talked to have questions about how they'll deal with violent situations and how much they'll get paid. >> it's a tough one. i mean, are they going to be police officers? how will they be insured if they take on somebody who has a

be building a better b.a.r.t. is part of building a better bay area. >> at the live desk, the united states upgraded a travel warning advisory to australia because of the devastating wildfires there. the u.s. department of state has increased the warning to a level two that means the department recommends tourists consider postponing trips to australia. the warning says even in areas not affected by bush fires, smoke is causing poor air qualities. the fires may burn through march or april of this year. in the south bay, sunnyvale police say they're looking for more burglars responsible for a rash of car break-ins and two men have been arrested. we first told you about the crimes yesterday morning. police say 43 cars were burglarized in two hours on tuesday night. they were all parked along rockefeller road and sherwood drive. officers were able to track down these two suspects in oakland. police found them with stolen

property. investigators are trying to determine if the sunnyvale spree is connected to a dozen car break-ins sunday night 11 miles away in san jose. a mangled mess on treasure island what we're learning this morning about an overnight porsche crash that left one person dead. and we're tracking breaking news from sacramento. governor newsom wants the state to get into the prescription drug business. more on that just ahead. first, we are at the weather center now to talk to mike about what's happening on the roads, it is a bit of a messy commute. >> it is messy but not like that thing from governor newsom will be. can't wait to hear about that. it's simple to note it's raining out there. slow down a bit. temperatures are in the mid 50s. here's 280/17, you can s it's raining down in the south bay. poor for your commute this morning. for the most part, in the bay, it will be quiet, stay inside if you want to be dry. this evening it will be fine.

here's sfo, it's not raining now. it was raining earlier m you can see the tarmac there definitely wet. no delays at any of our airports. let's look at what's going on with live doppler 7. i looped the last hour or so to give you an idea of how quickly it's clearing out in the north bay. fog may be possible for you over the next few hours. rain in the peninsula until 7:00, taking off to the mid 80s this afternoon with increasing sunshine. as far as the east bay valleys, rain possible through 7:00. we'll hit 55 at 3:00. in the south bay, rain will hang around through at least 9:00, we'll be partly cloudy and 55 at 3:00. some frost coming tonight. more chances of rain this weekend. we'll talk about that next. here's jobina. >> thank you, mike. i'm showing a live camera at -- showing you a live picture of the san mateo bridge. i'm bringing this back. a crash once you get to the end if you're traveling westbound, two-car crash there. that's why traffic is sluggish for people moving westbound.

in the south bay, 87 near the shark tank, light to moderate rain falling here. the east bay and the south bay are getting the best chances of steady rain now as it turns into snow as you head up to the high country, it will remain snowy up there. a couple of inches as the snow pack is down to 80% of average for today's date. we have a winter weather advisory until noon, up to seven inches over the peaks, five inches down to 3,500 feet. we have a good day for travel tomorrow. a few more inches of snow saturday, good day for travel sunday, in the evening showers roll in and bring us more snow monday and tuesday. >> thank you. breaking news in san francisco, police are investigating a deadly crash on treasure island. this happened in the middle of ti on 9th street and avenue h. that's where julian glover is with what we know so far. >> good morning. in the last 45 minutes, the car that was the scene -- the horrific scene was towed away

from avenue h on treasure island. we know the driver of that car, that white porsche was killed upon impact here. we want to get you some of the video so you can see for yourself how badly this was. you can see that white car completely shredded to pieces. you can see inside of it. you can see that cream colored interior. we're hearing the driver hit a parked car, continued speeding down avenue h and hit a tree and that is when that car was ripped to shreds, completely burst apart. split apart into two pieces, and then continued and hit another tree here on the other side of avenue h. there's a lot of debris covering the ground. it will take crews longer to clear the scene here. it's unclear why the driver continued and fled the scene of that hit and run that resulted in the driver's own death. very little information about where the driver was coming from and where the driver may have been headed or any information about the driver's identity.

we know that driver was the only person with injuries as a result of this deadly hit and run. reporting live on treasure island, julian glover, abc7 news. we're following breaking news at the live desk. california may be getting into the prescriptionusiness according to a new statement from governor newsom's office. the plan will be revealed tomorrow. newsom wants the state to contract with several drugmakers to buy generic prescription drugs, then turn around and sell those generics to the public under a state-run label. he said this would increase competition bringing the costs down for everyone. state lawmakers would have to approve this plan. kumasi? >> thanks. britain is in shock this morning with harry and meghan announcing they are stepping back from royal duties. they plan to spend more time in north america. this surprise announcement not

>> we salute you, sir. >> thank you, vic. >> we'll miss you. i'll take you to traffic here. we have several issues that we're following including ponding, spinouts, all sorts of things on the roads. first let's see what's pulling up on the map here. we have the issue in fremont. that's what i will start with. slick road conditions here because of oil that has spilled on mowry avenue, the on-ramp to southbound 880. spinouts there. a crash in concord involving three cars, southbound 242 before solano, thankfully no injuries reported there. we want to bring you over to oakland. we have roadway flooding reported on eastbound 580 to eastbound 24. and then on the overall map here, you can see those red zones across the san mateo bridge, if you're traveling westbound you will run into a two-car crash blocking two lanes. hi, mike. >> hi, jobina. let's look at the richmond side of the richmond-san rafael bridge. it's not raining here now, you can see that's definitely wet from that rain. you will find that throughout the morning commute.
