>> we got here moments ago. you can see here this scene is still active. they roped off the parking lot here at this safe way with crime tape so it doesn't look like customers can access the store. police have been on the scene for a few hours. this call came in after midnight. we have not heard from police what happened here. we know something major happened, they have shut down this 24-hour store and have been here a few hours. we'll go ask police questions, try to figure out what's going on at this store in middle field road in palo alto. the latest is just beware, something is going on here. reporting live in palo alto, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> thank you. police in the east bay are looking for four men who barged into the home of an elderly couple. it happened wednesday night. the couple says they didn't hear the noise when the suspect smashed a sliding glass door in

order to get in the robbers confronted the couple but didn't hurt them. they ransacked the home, stole property and valuables. iran invited the u.s. and boeing to join in the investigation into what brought down the ukrainian jetliner that crashed killing all 176 people on board. video shows or appears to show the moment the plane was hit by a missile. the impact caused debris to streak past the camera after the plane was hit. the video reinforces wester intelligence that says iran's anti-aircraft systems hit the plane. >> the evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an iranian surface-to-air missile. >> somebody could have made a mistake. some people say it was mechanical. i personally don't think that's even a question. >> iranian officials continue to deny shooting down the jet calling it "scientifically impossible." the iranian government cleared the scene of all wreckage and potential evidence just one day

after the crash. investigators did recover the black box, which could help piece together exactly what happened here. developing news in the iran crisis. iraq's prime minister is demanding the trump administration start form lading a plan to withdraw troops from his country. he said the air strikes that killed the top iranian general is a violation of their sovereignty. the president must get approval from congress for military action against iran that lasts longer than 30 days. the resolution still needs senate approval. the white house calls the war powers resolution ridiculous and misguided. help for immigrants, the homeless and preparing for natural disasters. those are a few items governor newsom is expected to announce in his proposed state budget. he is planning to ask lawmakers to set aside 1$1.4 billion for variety of issues, and that money would help get homeless

californians off the streets, cover full health benefits for immigrants and new technology to prepare for wildfires and earth wakes. governor newsom will discuss his budget at 10:30. the new year's eve death of a man trying to stop a laptop theft is driving a gofundme campaign to beef up security. the campaign aims to raise money for a security camera that would cover the neighborhood's commercial district. supporters say something has to be done to reverse the crime trend and to secure the neighborhood. a 34-year-old died after being dragged by a car as he tried to stop two men from stealing his laptop. should drivers have one less lane of traffic on the bay bridge? the plan that would change the commute into san francisco. hundreds of people in san jose's largest mobile home park are facing eviction. the mayor has a plan to stop it. gold leaf rib beye, just so of the things to enjoy at the

bluetooth connectivity that would provide updates about arrival times, elevator availability and station maps directly to rider cell phones. the project will not increase fares for riders. in the south bay, hundreds of residents of san jose's largest mobile home park now find themselves in the middle of a dispute between the property owners and the operators of the park. the residents received eviction warning letters last week sparking panic that they would be forced to move. >> reporter: fears of displacement over a possible redevelopment plan. >> this is the only home my sister and i have known. the thought of having to leave that is scary. >> an unsettling start to 2020 after residents at the west winds mobile home park in san jose received an eviction warning saying they may be forced to move out by august 2022. >> these people can't lose their homes. they can't afford to go anywhere else. so we don't want to leave here. >> last week mobile home park manager mch operating sued the

property owner, the nicholson family partnership, accusing them of wanting to push residents out on the street, saying in a statement displacing residents without cause or justification is contrary to the way we do business, and our lawsuit is the first step in opposing the nicholson family partnership's outrageous demands. no word yet on those exact demands, but the partnership says mhc has been unwilling to collaborate to find a long-term solution for the tenants, taking the unfortunate position that it has no obligation whatsoever to its tenants or to us when the land leases expire. affordable housing advocates say time is of the essence. >> other mobile home parks have been threatened with closure. so it's been a period of great stress for tenants and for -- and for mobile home park owners. the mayor hopes to have the new land use designation within the month. the 49ers are set to host

the king tides are coming our way. nearly 11:00 this morning in mill valley. 12:31 sunday. but what does that mean? along the immediate coast and bay front there could be some flooding. some of it could be significant enough to close down some parks and some parking lots. you need to be aware of that as you're out and about tomorrow. in the east bay, another public meeting set for next week on a proposal to rename an elementary school after former first lady michelle obama. woodrow wilson elementary in richmond is under construction and set to reopen in august. the psa suggested a new name to go with the new building. at a community last night some people said they weren't agains the obama idea but said prominent local women should also be considered.
