burglars got away with more than $83,000 of watches and jewelry from the bloomingdale's at the stanford shopping center. this happened tuesday morning. you can see the three suspects entering the store after breaking a glass door with a rock. at least two of them headed for the display cases which they also smashed with rocks. they grabbed the stuff and took off in a getaway car. now detectives are looking into whether this could be linked to similar crimes in the area. an east bay mom is roferi g recovering from a brutal attack. it happened at james logan high school in union city. her family says she was jumped and beaten by two teenage girls on tuesday morning. the parents say one of the girls had been bullying their 16-year-old daughter. so the mother and daughter were at the school hoping to complain to the principal, but then were confronted by the teens before they got through the front door. >> translator: i just wanted to go inside the office and talk to

the principal, you would never imagine a kid to hit an adult. >> police arrested one of the teens, charged her with battery. the school sent an email to parents saying in part we're investigating and following up on this incident working directly with the union city police department and taking disciplinary actions. we believe this incident to be between two logan students and does not appear to involve any other logan students. an east bay pe teacher is in trouble for having relationships with two students two decades ago. kyle ann wood is said to have inappropriate and unlawful relationships with two minor students between 1996 and 1998 when she was a teacher. wood is currently a teacher at miramonte high school. she is now on administrative leave. a new law went into effect this month in california giving

childhood s.e.c.ex abuse victim until the age of 40 to pursue legal action. the new year's eve death of a man trying to stop a laptop theft is driving a gofundme campaign to beef up security. the campaign aims to raise money for a security camera that would cover the neighborhood's commercial district. supporters say something has to be done to reverse the crime trend and to secure the neighborhood. a 34-year-old died after being dragged by a car as he tried to stop two men from stealing his laptop. iran invited the u.s. and boeing to join the investigation into what brought down the ukrainian jetliner that crashed killing all 176 people on board. video shows or appears to show the moment the plane was hit by a missile. the impact caused debris to streak past the camera after the plane was hit. the video reinforces western intelligence that says iran's anti-aircraft systems hit the plane. iranian officials continue to

deny shooting down the jet calling it "scientifically impossible." the iranian government cleared the scene of all wreckage and potential evidence just one day after the crash. investigators did recover the black box, which could help piece together exactly what happened here. developing news in the iran crisis, iraq's prime minister is demanding that the trump administration start formulating a plan to get u.s. troops out of the country. he says the air strike that killed a top iranian general is a violation of iraq's sovereignty. in washington, the democratic controlled house has approved a resolution that would limit president trump's war powers. the president must get approval from congress for military action against iran that lasts longer than 30 days. the resolution still needs senate approval. the white house calls the war powers resolution ridiculous and misguided. help for immigrants, the homeless and preparing for natural disasters. those are a few items governor newsom is expected to announce in his proposed state budget. he is planning to ask lawmakers

to set aside $1.4 billion for a variety of issues, and that money would help get homeless californians off the streets, cover full health benefits for immigrants and new technology to prepare for wildfires and earth wakes. governor newsom will discuss his budget at 10:30. the head of the a.c.t. tests is warning if you do away with the college admissions tests it might hurt underserved students. the uc system is considering getting rid of a.c.t. and s.a.t. admission requirements. critics say the tests do not adequately measure academic performance. the a.c.t. says a high score on the exam might act as a counter weight for poor grades. the company has a financial motive in this, it earned 3$300 million in profit according to the chronicle. the 49ers are ready for the big playoff game tomorrow. the ticket giveaway that's happening later today. and you're looking live at the big board.
