better bay area. this is abc 7 mornings. good morning. it is a saturday, january the 11th. i'm julian glover we have a lot to get to. we start it off with a quick check of the weather with lisa argen. we know rain is falling across part of the bay this morning. >> that's right, julian. in fact the light rain with us from the east bay to the north bay. it's a weak system continuing to sink south allow for the showers to dissipate by sunrise. you can see some activity there in the sacramento valley. but it's fog that's really causing a problem up in santa rosa. a quarter mile visibility there. three miles in oakland. five miles in hayward. take it slow out there. it's a level 1 on the impact scale.

bay. we'll have another look at the forecast coming up in a bit on abc 7 mornings. now to new developments here. a san francisco new district attorney chesa boudin is shaking things up by firing several prosecutors. boudin was sworn in wednesday he has pledged to transform the way the city prosecutes cases focusing on a method he calls restorative justice. at least six toerps were fired yesterday. including several managers in the felony office. boudin released a statement to abc 7 news saying quote i had to make difficult staffing decisions in order to put in place a management team that will help me accomplish the work i am committed to do for san francisco. virile surveillance video out of redding led to the arrest of an animal abuse suspect. we want to warn you before we show it the video may be disturbing. iside the video you can see the woman approaching a house with her dog. the home owner tells her to leave that's when the woman hits

the dog and bites it several times. the footage went viral and a tib tibster led investigates to a suspect in shasta lake where they made the arrest. the dog is save with the haven hue mane society. yosemite national park mab hit with an outbreak of an a stomach illness. tlaeft a dozen reported sick so far. inspections of the park's food service facilities, including the-onnee hotel. they say it's too the early to identify the illness. so far no dining facilities closed. oakland restaurant week is underway right now. but running a bay area restaurant has not been easy the last year. it's an issue we've been checking out as part of our efforts to build a better bay area. abc 7 news reporter chris reyes explains how the week will help make a comeback. >> we have local pacific swordfish that we're pan

appears we are closer to a senate trial. house speaker and san francisco representative nancy pelosi says she is ready to hand over the two articles of impeachment to the snapt. the speaker was withholding the articles to pressure republicans to allow additional witnesses at the trial. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell says it doesn't look like that will happen. no word on a start date for the senate trial pip. meme here in california, governor newsom unveiled a massive spending plan if approved would be the largest in california history. $222 billion on the table for investment and wildfire prevention. housing, homelessness and other things like public education. abc 7 news reporter leon melendez has more. >> the governor made the announcement some weren't expecting but many hoped for. >> we're expanding coverage regardless of immigration status for all of those 65 and over. >> this means upwards of 27,000 seniors who fall under the

there is always something new to see, to do. you don't have to stop exploring. you don't have to stay home with a child or stay in your little neighborhood. there is a whole city out there. because we are always out doing stuff and exploring the city my friends were like start a instagram. i just did it more on a whim and just for frnds. but it took off organically and grew and i left my job to do this full-time. i turn to youtube for everything. i've self-taut my. the rebelling. i love instagram. it's a place for inspiration. it's a place to meet people actually. it's a place where i go to research cities and we travel. our account has never been about us. a lot of the shots we take are him from the back, the view from a child's eyes has become a love letter to the city if you will, i love showcasing it in the best light. what does this one say, buddy? >> i love new york. >> i love new york.

out of the north bay today, there are two cool children's charity events going on at the sonoma raceway. if you ever wanted to drive the track now is the chance. this sounds cool. the laps for charity benefits children in need in sonoma county. you can enjoy a few laps on the 12-turn track in your car, plus you get a hot lap in the instructor speed car. the speedway has given out nearly $7 million to sonoma county youth groups since 2001. the event costs $150 and starts at 7:30 a.m. at the raceway. i'm sure they're having a lot of people taking part. >> never heard of the hot lap. >> if you want to go real fast. >> gotcha. >> it's your chance. >> all right. well the roads will dry up by later on this morning. the north bay. the rain end tlg first. and it is sort of dissipating in other parts of the bay area. but you can still see it's slick
