as we continue to focus on building a better bay area, we know homelessness and the high cost of housing are major complaints. for some, it is driving people to move away. particularly low income residents who can't afford to stay. a new study on this. >> reporter: san jose homeless population keeps growing. up 42% in two years. while there are ambitious goals to build affordable housing, they aren't being built fast enough to address what they call displacement. low income families can't make it so they move away and leave jobs important to the economy. >> who will be teaching your children? who will be carrying social worker caseloads? who will be making your coffee? >> reporter: this new study 14 months in the making has identified the most vulnerable residents as hispanics and african-americans and women who head the households.

on the latest update of the google smart lock app. android users can already use their keys right now. many use codes sent to text message for two factor authentication. the problem with that, many of the texts may be vulnerable to hackers. mcdonald's is taking action to compete with chick-fil-a. they are adding msg to its chicken sandwiches in 230 stores in texas and tennessee. msg is a flavor enhancer that increases the taste. mcdonald's says it has received positive responses so far. msg was once thought to create headaches but studies were found to be flawed and the fda has found msg to be generally safe.
