himself inside the house, and several homes have been set on fire. firefighters are not going in because they believe the gunman is stullill a loud throughout. >> there was a loud bang, five or six gunshots, then they brought out another officer on a stretcher. >> visitors to waikiki have been sharing these images of smoke rising from near diamond head. the fbi has been called in to assist. a car hit and killed a woman on highway 101 after she got out of her car to confront another driver. the chp said it happened early this morning near the third avenue exit in san mateo. the victim's car was involved in a crash with another vehicle. she got out to talk to that driver and was hit. the driver who hit her and the driver of the car involved in the initial crash now face dui charges. that stretch of 101 was shut down for several hours this morning. another deadly crash. >> this time in oakland where a

42-year-old woman from oakland died early this morning on grand avenue and macarthur boulevard. police say the other driver and his passenger ran from that crash. you can see both cars suffered serious damage. roads in the area were closed for just about eight hours. to the east bay, where police say a tesla model was involved in a fiery pleasanton crash that killed a fire and reignited after it was towed from the scene. firefighters were called to extinguish the burning battery a second time. remnant of the crash are still there at the intersection of west las plasieta boulevard and hacienda drive. witnesses tried pulling the driver out but the flames were too intense. a firefighter fell partially through the floor of a burning building in concord. it happened yesterday when crews were battling a fire at an

abandoned apartment building. the captain's fall knocked debris onto a firefighter on the first floor, causing a minor badge injury. attorneys for the president made a new legal filing this weekend revealing how they are likely to defend him in the president's impeachment trial. here is abc news reporter david wright. >> reporter: this weekend president trump's lawyers filed their first formal response to the impeachment articles, a six-page letter under the heading "answer of president donald j. trump," insisting the president did absolutely nothing wrong and calling the democrats' articles of impeachment constitutionally invalid on their face. quote, they fail to allege any crime or violation of law whatsoever let alone high crimes and misdemeanors. trump defense lawyer alan dershowitz claims there's no grounds to remove trump from office. >> when you read the text of the constitution, treason, bribery, other high crimes and
