also in oakland, a homeless advocacy group will continue to build an emergency shelter for those living in a curbside community. volunteers spent the weekend working on this temporary shelter on east 12th street in an effort to get people off the ground and into something safe until permanent affordable housing can accessible. the group says it is a call to moral responsibility or for moral responsibility on this martin luther king holiday. the "new york times" editorial board has officially endorsed two democratic candidates. elizabeth warren and amy klobuchar for president. the board met with several candidates and decided to back the two female senators in the race. senator klobuchar called it an honor and senator warren said they're both undefeated in elections and "new york times" endorsements. most of the democratic candidates will be in des moines, iowa today for the iowa brown and black forum. this forum will be one of the last chances for the candidates to make their cases before the

since december of 2018. track officials say they immplemented enhanced safety procedures to reduce the number of deaths. developing news in the mysterious corona virus. the chinese government reported a sharp increase in the viral illness. the outbreak started in a central city of china. the city started screening airline passengers arriving to sfo over the weekend. that mystery virus is also in our "gma" first look. >> three major airports on alert for a deadly virus. >> they told us to stay in the plane for a couple more minutes, then we went down and took our temperature and i gave them the form. >> here in america, the cdc sending about 100 employees to jfk, l.a.x. and sfo to take temperatures and check for symptoms of the corona virus which can at first look like the common cold, flu or pneumonia. after chinese health officials revealed they identified more than 200 cases of the so-called

runs in oakland over the weekend. on sunday oakland pd said this audi crashed into a subaru at grant avenue and macarthur boulevard. the driver and two passengers got out from the scene but the driver of the subaru died at the hospital. neighbors are not necessarily surprised by the reckless driving. >> it's scary to me. i see a lot of traffic go through here. and a lot of times i ask that people slow down a little bit. it's no sense rushing through two lights. >> on friday, a mother waiting to pick up her child at school was also killed in a hit and run. she was hit while crossing the street at 98th avenue and cherry street. the suspect left in a nissan maxima. happening today, law enforcement in richmond, virginia are preparing for a rally against several proposed gun control bills. several thought gun rights advocates are expected to attend. the governor issued a state of emergency. the fbi arrested a number of
