working on for quite some time. they first got the call at 9:50 and saw flames and smoke coming from the home. they heard a victim was located inside the house, two of them were. one pronounced dead at the scene. the other transported. while we were there earlier we were able to speak to neighbors about what they saw. >> it shook me. it shook me. it gutted the place. i was only outside for maybe half an hour and the entire place was gone on the inside. it was too close to home and i pray for him and his wife. >> reporter: that neighbor you heard from says she lives directly behind the mobile home that was completely burned in this fire overnight. she was only able to tell us she believes the victims are husband and wife. that's all the information we're receiving this morning. also unclear if it was a man or a woman who died, but at least one person dead here after a fire overnight. reporting live this morning,

arguments. then there will be 16 hours of questions from senators. after that the debate over the issue of witnesses. >> it's clear mcconnell is hellbent on making it much more difficult to get witnesses and documents and intent on rushing the trial through. >> reporter: this as president trump's lawyers argue in their 110-page brief the process has violated every precedent and every principle of fairness with one of the president's lawyers alan dershowitz claiming the articles of impeachment do not rise to the levels of high crimes and misdemeanors as the constitution requires. >> the articles of impeachment are two noncriminal actions. >> reporter: but dershowitz himself said the exact opposite 21 years ago during the clinton impeachment. >> certainly doesn't have to be a crime if you have somebody who completely corrupts the office of president. >> reporter: and this was dershowitz on cnn last night explaining his contradiction.

week when sheriff's deputies enforce add judge's order to evict them. abc 7 news is working to build a better bay area and finding solutions to our homeless crisis is a big part of that motion. advocates are building what they call an emergency shelter project. the village of tiny homes is going up on east 12th street and 14th avenue. a group called the village said they're taking action to house about 14 homeless people in wooden shelters. restroom facilities and showers will be added, too. the city has already shut down two other villages by this same group. now many wonder if this one will be allowed to stay. >> we will not treat this encampment any differently than we treat any other encampment. >> mayor schaaf says every homeless camp gets the same assessment based on safety, health and size. a vote on a controversial chick-fil-a is expected today. they want to open in campbell. neighbors fear traffic may paralyze the area.

a study found a chick-fil-a would attract more than 2,200 cars to the area every day. the planning commission approved the plan last year, but opponents are appealing the decision to the city council today. this week the b.a.r.t. board will vote on whether to install canopies in downtown san francisco. so this is kind of what they would be similar to, one installed in 2018. they're designed to help protect riders from the elements and will provide additional security with motorized gates that will lock overnight and will feature real time displays. a stockton teen vanishes after attending a house party 23 years ago. now the fbi is warning her parents to prepare for a major development in the case. enjoy it while you can, one of san francisco's busiest streets is about to ban cars. and fans scooping up niners gear, but where will they watch the parade if the team wins?

the debate pitting san francisco and santa clara. >> so those stories are all ahead. first that rain i so dramatically described earlier. it's good. we haven't seen a lot in january. it's been quiet. anything we do get, we need. we wish there was more. as we look up to windsor, healdsburg, down through santa rosa, some light showers around geyserville and further south we're getting a few returns here around petaluma. novato, maybe a few sprinkles out there. as we get closer to southern marin county, not much is going on here. that will change. rain will develop for the morning hours and then the afternoon for the east bay and south bay. a little bit of activity there within the past couple of hours. just priming the atmosphere for the rest of the bay. alameda, san francisco, 44 for

good tuesday morning to you. rain is moving into the bay area and as it sweeps through the north bay this morning, we'll have wet pavement here for the commute. the east bay and south bay will be for the afternoon. it's a weak system. it will have some breezy winds, though. across the state we are looking at the possibility of some snow in the mountains. not a lot but enough to cause a few issues here. it's really a northern california event. it will wash out as it moves through the central coast later on today. thanks, lisa. to new developments in the 1996 disappearance of kristin smart. her mom says she was contacted by the fbi and told to be prepared for an announcement.

smart went missing in may of 1996 after a party at cal-poly. she was declared dead in 2002 even though her remains were never found. the fbi wouldn't tell her mom when an announcement would be made but suggested the family hire a spokesperson. in san francisco city leaders are alerting drivers to a big change coming to market street starting a week from tomorrow. cars will be banned for a big stretch of it. going eastbound, so that means towards the ferry building, you'll no longer be able to drive on market from 10th street to main. and then in the opposite direction from stewart to van ness. they will include uber and lyft. muni. cars will continue to be allowed to cross market street. okay, so it's probably the most tal bay area right now. >> the 49ers george kittle decided to put on a t-shirt

we have a few scattered showers along west marin. it will wash out and be very weak. as we look at the numbers in the north bay, mild because of the cloud cover. and the temperatures since yesterday when they were struggling to warm up, much warmer now, six to four degrees warmer. here is sutro. good conditions for the commute. you may get into a little bit of wet pavement and we're going to see some showers out there. temperatures fairly uniform in the mid-50s. we have the rain. 56 at 2:00. as we gohrough the latter part of the afternoon, still will hold on to the chance of lingering showers. mid to upper 50s. the rain doesn't make it into the east bay until about

plans to drastically cut back service. the warm hut will shut down in march for renovations. well known for selling freshly prepared food. they will serve snacks and beverages. the cafe is operated by the gg delta airlines is thanking its employees in a huge way. they had a big year. it's handing out $1.6 billion in profit sharing bonuses. that means every eligible employee will receive a check for 16% of their annual salary. so what does that mean? that basically means they're getting two months pay extra. this is the sixth year in a row delta has paid out more than a billion in bonuses. lisa? what are we doing? >> i don't work for delta. i have nothing to say. delta, in and out, yeah. good morning, everybody.

we're looking at showers here from the north coast. you can see a lot of the activity in extreme northern california. we will be on the tail end of this system. it is a level one. we're starting oud with temperatures in the forwards to near 50. 7:00, 8:00, 9:00 up in the north bay by noon, 1:00 it pushes east along the coast, the san mateo coast. it does get hung up as we get to the 5:00, 6:00 hour. amounts will remain light but we need rain. a quarter of an inch in novato and higher elevations maybe a half inch of rain. it will be a mild start with scattered showers throughout the day. jobina? thank you, lisa. good tuesday morning. starting off at the golden gate bridge. not seeing any major issues but we do have two problems in san francisco that i will get to.
