and a custom tesla. and get this. a group of crooks was so good at what they did, they paid for all of this in cash. good evening. thanks for joining us. >> these guys are under arrest in their multimillion-dollar operation across two counties is no more. >> eric thomas has the story. >> reporter: there will be some long days ahead for the san mateo deputies, cataloguing box after box after box of stolen laptop computers along with cell phones and high end tv cameras and lenses worth tens of thousands each. you're looking at just part of the stolen property seized when detectives broke up a fencing ring base in the san mateo and san francisco counties. >> we named it the shattered glass case. because most of these come from window slashes. >> as we are all too aware, the bay area suffers from an epidemic of break-ins and

thefts. the detectives learned where much of the merchandise was going. it was being fence in the san francisco. then brought back to the county for storage before being resold. possibly overseas. the ring wasn't responsible for the thefts, but they were responsible for what happened next. >> they were selling it themselves so we wanted to go up a level. >> they didn't only cover electronics. they also recovered $150,000 in cash. yesterday, cops launched raids on five san mateo county locations and three in san francisco. eight suspects were arrested for possession of stolen property, conspiracy and money laundering. detectives say proceeds from the crimes have been used to buy this tesla. a maserati, a bmw suv and even a $1.2 million daly city home paid off in just two years. >> it would have been sques 200

or 300 but this netted over 2,000 laptops, over $2.50 in stolen property collectively. >> it will take days to process you a this property into evidence, and the investigation isn't over. they want to know who is the next step up on the food chain. abc7 news. >> the executives pleaded guilt troy a billion-dollar ponzi scheme today. they found the owners sold approximately 17,000 solar generators to investors that did not exist. they bought luxury real estate, jewelry and a fire bird previously owned by burt reynolds, among other things. he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison. she faces up to 15 years. they'll be senate intelligenten. and a man crashed into a home in hayward.

look at this. the driver hit two parked cars and tried to get away when his suv flipped, crashing into the house. the campbell union district is joining a growing number of schools suing jewell. they claimed they hooked students on vaping products, harming their he had indications. the district is seeking damages from financial losses for student absences, expenses for health problems and programs, and the cost of staff to monitor students. a juul spokesperson said they are fighting underage vaping. the administration is threatening to withhold federal funding over the state's requirement that all insurance plans cover abortion. the head of the department of health and human services says, no one in america should be forced to pay for or cover other

people's abortions. officials say doing so would violate federal law. in a statement, governor newsom says, quote, the trump administration would rather rile up its base to score cheap political points and risk access to care for millions, than do what's right. the state will have 30 days to come employ or risk losing some of the health funding that it gets from the hhs. the philippine government released new video of the destruction caused by the volcano which erupted on january 12th. now national satellite is showing that the volcano could explode at any moment. the filipino community is rallying to collect supplies to send over for what could be a coming catastrophe. >> reporter: geologists are warning about the volcano is threatening to erupt within hours or days. ash spewed into the air on
