good morning, everyone. it's saturday, january 25th. i'm liz kreutz we have a lot to get to this morning li morning. but lets look at the weather. hey, liz, good morning to you. hi, everyone. lots of clouds out there and dense fog around the bay. we have a lot of moisture in the atmosphere right now. you could even be seeing mist and drizzling. the cold front moves in l the bay area mainly while you are sleeping. but a lot of moisture in the atmosphere, so the warm f way c in the afternoon. a quarter mile visibility in hayward. getting worse around the bay and the north bay over a mile. five miles in san jose. the dense fog with us for the morning hours as well as the mild temperatures. mainly in the 50s upper 40s in the inland east bay. through the afternoon lots of mid-high level clouds. mild temperatures and the level 1 system late tonight, liz. >> thank you, developing news in the south bay. hazmat crews trying to determine the chemical several people,

including teens were exposed to a a high school wrestling match. the fire department says 10 to 20 complaint of eye, near and nose and throat irritations before 11:00 last night at the high school gym. only ten treated on scene by paramedics. two patients taken to the hospital. >> the deadly corn oi virus outbreak is growing this morning. hong kong declaring a virus emergency. schools will be closed two weeks after the lunar holiday. 41 people died in china and more than 1,200 others infected. 35 million people are on lockdown and more than a dozen cities across china. here in the beau, health workers are preparing in eunicen. chris reyes started in santa clara county where they believe they are doing the best they can. >> some of the things we do are identify cases early and get ourselves prepared to identify cases early. >> reporter: santa clara county is working with health departments all over the bay

area and california and with the cdc to learn everything they can about the virus then passing the information quickly to local health care providers. san francisco's department of health holding their own press conference to send a message of vigilance to the public. >> if they traveled in the past 14 days and developed fever or respiratory systems or cough or shortness of breath. we ask they call their provider ahead of time. >> at the santa clara county fair grounds preparations are in force for the new year celebrations at the tet festival about 10,000 expected to attend. one vendor cancelled because of virus concerns and organizers say they prepare guests. >> coming here wash hands every minnesota and cover your mouth when you cough and so on. >> dr. cody says there is no reason to gathin therereo confirmed cases in california. the risk of infection in the bay area is low.

but the perseveres wants to turn this into a positive by talking about it. new signs going up around the city of san rafael raising eyebrows. appearing to discourage panhandling. lorin martinez explain which why city officials say there is a better way to help those on the et cetera. >> the sign itself is explicitly saying please give inside, don't give on the street to people asking for money. >> the city of san rafael now has ten of the signs that discourage from you giving loose change to pan handlers. at the bottom, there is a phone number. >> there is a hotline number we created so people can call. if they are looking for help they can get help but also for the public if they want to get involved neck find out how. >>? 10u6r the city installed purple meeters where change from there goes to an organization giving non-cash stipends to those that are homeless. the signs are another way to direct money towards charity. some think it goes too far.

>> it's a constitutional right to pan handle and travel. >> mike and his dogs travel around marin county. he says the signs are trying to push people needing help the most out. >> people got to stop judging on people. people gow through hard times. >> drivers will see the signs off second and third streets off the intersections of irwin and grant. one woman says the number that directs you to charities and non-profits is nice. but she will decide if she gives money or not. >> that's a good reminder. and i had do give money to non-profits. but other times i just feel like i'm making that decision for myself. >> the city says over the last two years they have seen a 30% reduction in unsheltered homelessness. in san rafael, 7 news. part of building a better bay area includes finding sloughs to the housing crisis. in erik berkeley people got to look at the condos for sale for affordable prices. a one bedroom at 162,000.

welcome back. a live look here from our south beach camera. you can see how foggy it is this morning. visibility appears to be really rough if you are driving over the bridge or just really throughout the bay area this morning. so drive safe and slow. time right now is 6:12. police raids on the peninsula broke up a major stolen property fencing operation and landed 8 people in jail. on thursday police launched raids on five san mateo locations and three in san francisco. police say the items recovered came from residential burglaries, retail theft and smash and grab robberies. if when we would have gotten two hundred laptops or three hundred it would have been success. but this case netted over 2,000 laptops, $150,000 in cash. over $2.5 million of stolen property collectively.

chronicle claimist weighs in with the reason any victory parade would remain in san francisco. >> inside word it's san francisco. the city is in talks with the 49ers preliminary on the idea of having it in the city. and the reason, i think is the skyline behind us. it's iconic, big, a place to throw the confetti off and capture the who most. but dramatic skyline or not phil says there may be behind the scenes northbounding going on over more down to earth issues. >> one of the factors in here that has to be negotiated is the thing called cost. throwing a ticker tape parade through downtown san francisco is not cheap. one of the questions is how much are the 49ers going to be willing to give like the warriors and giants have to oakland and san francisco for past parades and how much picked up by the citizens of san francisco? >> whoever ponies up legionens of niner fans would say it's money well spent. niners head coach kyle hand

had to navigate through some fog this morning, even a little bit of drizzle. it's everywhere. the cloudiness and we continue to see the high mid-level clouds clout the day today. maybe a possible shower. but the actual front doesn't move through until late tonight. a weak level 1 system looking at the north coast you can see the rain. once again, it has been in the pacific northwest. and pretty stingy for the rest of california. in fact, january hasn't been great to us. the last full week of january and next weekend is the first weekend of february. things don't look a whole lot different. in fact we are looking milder. the level 1 system coming late tonight into tomorrow with light to moderate rain less than 0.2 in most err areas. upwards maybe a half inch in the north bay. they've been seeing the most. and the forecast models haven't been performing that great for the bay area. the north bay has seen more. but still well below where we should be for january. 56 in oakland.

it's 53 in hayward. a mild 51 with fog in fremont. and the upper 40s in the north bay. the fog extends to the livermore valley, fremont, saneor bay.an drizzle as well. the visibility down to a quarter of a mile for you around hayward. and three miles half moon bay as well as sfo. probably delays at the airport. now up to four miles. 3/4 of a mile up in santa rosa. so last we can we had this fog really move in by the midmorning hours. and with no wind out there it's not getting better until the front pushing through or we have the warm front that should allow for visibility to improve throughout the day. so areas of fog morning that light storm arrives late tonight into sunday. and then looking at mainly a dry week ahead. the high wave heights continue throughout the coast from sonoma to monterey. this is until 11:00. so dangerous conditions at the shoreline. but look at the temperatures. you have noticed how mild it's been probably the front moves through later on today. so tomorrow we're slightly

cooler. but still 60 degrees. pretty much where we should be for this time of year. upper 50s to near 60 in san jose and each and every day we warm up by the end of the week, more sun, warmth, talking 70 degrees for february. as we look into the next several hours, we're looking at the cloud cover. and here comes maybe a few showers this the north bay. the front is still offshore, comes through by the overnight hours. and you'll see the rain -- or maybe hear the rain 5:00 this morning along the coast or tomorrow morning i should say. then it clears out and we are looking for a sunny sunday. lant cooler. how much can we expect? not very much. a couple hundredths. trace the amounts east bay, south bay maybe 0.2 to less than a half inch in the north bay. low 60s today. showers in the north bay. fog this morning and then tonight we see the cold front move through and wake up to scattered showers sunday morning. the accuweather seven-day forecast a weak level 1 tonight into tomorrow. then partly cloudy, maybe some

news to build a better bay area. this is abc 7 mornings. good morning, everyone we start this half hour with a look at the weather. here is meteorologist lisa argen. >> hey, liz, goern to you. lots of fog out there. it's a dense fog moving around, even a bit of mist and drizzle. currently visibility right now in miles just over a mile. half moon bay. under that dsh under a half mile hayward. 2.5 files in hayward. 3/4 of a miles in santa rosa and five miles in san jose. light wind, a lot of moisture. a warm front on the way and cold front then. 7:00 temperatures very mild we're dry, aside from mist and drizzling. 10:00 could see a north bay showers. we're in the 60s in spots. 3:00 this afternoon, it's mild and muggy, murky out there. and we'll see showers in the north bay.

0.1 to trace amounts in the east and south bay. upwards of 0.4, maybe a half inches in the upper elevations. moderate rain overnight as the cold front pushes through. here is a live look from the golden gate where this is not the only foggy spot. weather watcher lots of fog around the bay. a lot of moisture in the atmosphere and looking at southerly winds. but they're very light. the southerly winds and clouds kept us warm overnight. but the lack of wind for the most part allowing for the dense fog. here is a live doppler 7. and the cold front and moisture well north. still offshore. this pushes through later on. but we will get showers in the north bay with that warm front approaching. because there just is so much moisture in the atmosphere, it's not taking much for it to ring thing out in the form of light rain at times throughout the day today. especially north. 54 in oakland and san jose. it's 49 in gilroy on the coast it's 50 degrees. and at sfo we could see delays.
