providing the owner with inside information to give him an unfair advantage in awarding of contracts. both men appeared in federal court today. >> melanie has the very latest on this story. >> each of those men was reined and released on $2 million bond. them san francisco has been betrayed by one of the highest ranging employees. the san francisco director of public works, they are both charged in a criminal complaint with wire fraud. charged with bribing the airport commissioner. the alleged bribe, $5,000 cash and free travel in exchange for the commissioner's stoongs win a bid for the right to run a restaurant at sfo. both men allegedly violated rules for the fair competitive bidding process. though scheme was never completed and the bribe never

paid. >> it alleges bribery, side deals by one of san francisco's highest ranking public employees. >> additional schemes along he used his official position. it was a mixed use project in san francisco. as well as alleging that he used his position as the chair of the authority to secure a desirable lease in the transit center. also allegedly provided inside information city projects regarding portable bathroom trailers and homeless housing uni units. and using discounted labor from contractors to help balled personal vacation home while the contractors were also engaining in business with the city. he tweeted this photo, thanking him for his leadership and all he does for children in the bay

area and beyond. nuru was charged in a second complaint for having shared details of the investigation after previously promising to cooperate with the fbi. the san francisco mayor had this to say today. >> it is of course important that we work with our city attorney and our controller's office to fully cooperate with the fbi on this particular investigation, to ensure public trust and full transparency. >> reporter: mayor breed said the city administrator put mohammed nuru on leave. they are asking for a thorough review of any implicated city contracts. meantime, federal officials say there will be several people who will recognize themselves in this 75-page complaint. not by name but by details known only to them. they're encouraging those people to, quote, run, not walk to the fbi to provide assistance in this case.
