>> reporter: anthony deguzman was stabbed twice walking home from his car. later that day he got a parking ticket. >> i was lucky that i didn't die. and the following day they gave me a ticket and there's no remorse on their end. >> reporter: he doesn't wanted to show his face for fear of retaliation from his attacker. he says he spent two weeks in the hospital after his surgery and can't go back to work until march. he's tried to appeal the ticket. >> we showed them the docket number. and we showed them what's in the hospital. >> reporter: but they refute those claims, saying he did not submit any records about being in the hospital. in the letter dated january 22nd, says the evidence was, quote, insufficient to overcome the validity of the citation. and writes the system we have in

place accounts for unfortunate situations like mr. deguzman's. it's important to provide as much evidence as possible for staff to review. deguzman paid the $79 ticket to avoid further fees. he says he's still unsure if he'll continue to fight. the time i would spend going through this, it would be costing more. >> reporter: in san francisco, abc 7 news. in the east bay the suspect in a deadly hit and run has been captured. 29-year-old oakland resident, alexander mcgehee is accused of running over a woman in berkeley almost two weeks ago. they say the collision happened as mcgehee was speeding away from a u.c. police officer. that officer had approached a car after seeing a woman inside

screaming for help. they say when he sped off, he hit and killed a homeless woman on the sidewalk. new developments tonight. the company that owns the helicoptn helicopter involved in the crash that killed kobe bryant and ohers has suspended. meanwhile "the new york times" is reporting the chopper wasn't even eligible to fly in poor visibility. and take a look at this mural tribute to kobe in fresno. people braved the cold to watch the artist outline the face of his idle. this is the beginning phase of kobe to honor kobe and his daughter, gigi. a large part of that is keeping the post venue secure. that comes down to the local,
