closed half its stores in china including wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak. >> here in the united states there are six confirmed cases of the virus after the first evidence of person-to-person transmission. a man in illinois catching the virus from his wife. >> there are two cases in southern california, one in washington state and one in arizona. it is effecting people. >> laura martinez with the very latest on the story. >> reporter: in travellers from shanghai tell me it's similar to the flu only worse. and it's already making a huge impact in the bay area for those that have trips planned and chinese new year events. she just landed from an 11-hour flight from shanghai, china. she says china is doing what it can.

later that day he got a parking ticket. >> i was lucky that i didn't die. and the following day they gave me a ticket and there's no remorse on their end. >> reporter: he doesn't wanted to show his face for fear of retaliation from his attacker. he says he spent two weeks in the hospital after his surgery and can't go back to work until march. he's tried to appeal the ticket. >> we showed them the docket number. and we showed them what's in the hospital. >> reporter: but they refute those claims, saying he did not submit any records about being in the hospital. in the letter dated january 22nd, says the evidence was, quote, insufficient to overcome the validity of the citation. and writes the system we have in place accounts for unfortunate situations like mr. deguzman's. it's important to provide as

much evidence as possible for staff to review. deguzman paid the $79 ticket to avoid further fees. he says he's still unsure if he'll continue to fight. the time i would spend going through this, it would be costing more. >> reporter: in san francisco, abc 7 news. in the east bay the suspect in a deadly hit and run has been captured. 29-year-old oakland resident, alexander mcgehee is accused of running over a woman in berkeley almost two weeks ago. they say the collision happened as mcgehee was speeding away from a u.c. police officer. that officer had approached a car after seeing a woman inside screaming for help. they say when he sped off, he hit and killed a homeless woman on the sidewalk. new developments tonight.

the company that owns the helicoptn helicopter involved in the crash that killed kobe bryant and ohers has suspended. meanwhile "the new york times" is reporting the chopper wasn't even eligible to fly in poor visibility. and take a look at this mural tribute to kobe in fresno. people braved the cold to watch the artist outline the face of his idle. this is the beginning phase of kobe to honor kobe and his daughter, gigi. a large part of that is keeping the post venue secure. that comes down to the local, state and federal law enforcement center. operations to keep it safe will happen by land, sea and air.

hosting the super bowl in miami is pretty unique because much of it is happening in venues surrounded by water. san francisco's finest are also in miami. and his k9 hanging out at miami beach. this crime-fighting duo is not just in miami because the niners are in the super bowl, they're with other teams dispatched by the tsa to keep the host city safe. and as the excitement builds among fans for the super bowl, there's a warning about counterfeit stuff being sold. >> chris alvarez is live with more. chris. >> reporter: hi, guys. i want to find that dog. i didn't know that was going on. 49ers fans are not looking for fresh gear. i mean, they are. but some are looking for tickets

super bowl, for the niners. no rain in the bay area and that's because we have high pressure blocking the storm track. that low is going to move in but not until sunday. so, january hasn't produced many big soaking storms. that's why we're normally abnormally dry. 34% of the state to be precise. that sunday system is going to bring snow to northern california and the sierras. the showers are going to be skirting our area. we're not expecting any showers here. maybe a few sprinkles and an isola isolated shower. but if you're wanting to go to tahoe to enjoy the weather, 50s in the afternoon, gusty on saturday. sunday is your best chance of snow and much cooler weather for lake tahoe. explore torrium camera showing you a lovely view of the bay.
