the democrats lost friday's crucial vote, it's pretty much game over. final tally, 51-49, on the question of calling for more witnesses and documents. the democrats had hoped to win over four republican moderates, but in the end convinced only two of them, susan collins of maine and mitt romney of utah. lamar alexander of tennessee said no more witnesses were needed because in his view the democrats had proven their case. that said he said what the president did was in his view improper but not impeachable. lisa murkowski of alaska did not say what she thinks of the president's conduct but said that she believes that a fair trial in the senate is not possible. the process too tainted by partisanship. well, now under the schedule agreed to by both sides, closing arguments will take place monday. final vote on a verdict will likely take place on wednesday. two significant events in between now and then, the iowa

welcome back to "gma" on this saturday morning. >> let's start with some "pop news." >> let's do it. we begin this morning with mr. brad pitt who somehow found a way to make a -- help a third grader with his school project. here's what happened. chase moh is the kid in the middle. you'll see here, okay. there's chase. his dad is actor and martial artist mike moh who played bruce lee in "once upon a time in hollywood," okay. so -- they had a fight. >> yes, you know, and that little film that brad pitt was in that earned him an oscar nomination. so chase had an assignment based off a book his class read and in the book the main character can't afford a train ticket to visit her grandma so she wears a postage stamp and is mailed to her grandmother by way of a mail car. got that? okay. so the assignment was for the kids to draw a self-portrait, give it to a relative and see where the drawing ends up in the

world. well, chase's dad mike took his self-portrait to the s.a.g. awards last weekend and then this happened. chase's school shared this photo. >> oh, that's awesome. >> you see chase's self-portrait with mr. brad pitt. they shared it on the facebook page. his teacher said most of the kids didn't even know who brad pitt was. chase, though, was impressed and the teacher to emphasize to the kids how big of a deal this was pretended to faint when she saw it and so, of course, if you want to see if brad pitt takes home the oscar for his role in "once upon a time in hollywood" the 92nd annual academy awards airs sunday, february 9th right here on abc. >> how old is this kid that the other kids -- >> peppa the pig. >> not watching a lot of tarantino movies. >> brad who? okay, so next -- >> i question their parents' judgment. >> you'll love this one, though. our feline friend perdita described by her shelter family as the world's worst cat, okay, so they say that they say that

do people stop you on the street thinking you're meghan markle? >> i don't think they think i'm meghan markle because i don't know why meghan markle would be in smalltown missouri but i have had many people like at the grocery store, at church, i even had -- this is when i knew that i looked really like her because i had this teenage boy at the bread aisle of target come up to me and he was like, you know, you look like -- you look like -- what's that princess girl's name, meghan. that's who you look like. so i always giggle when i hear it, though, so it's such a compliment. >> well, akeisha, this really went viral this week when you posted that photo we've been showing with your daughter on instagram. what have the past few days been like for you? >> overwhelming to say the least. it's just been a whirlwind and like i said, it's been so flattering and such a compliment to be compared to her likeness, so i'll take it. it's been fun. >> akeisha, it's been fun to

>> reporter: in the video that quickly went viral. >> stay right here. >> reporter: korisa miller says she was ice fishing in michigan with a friend monday afternoon. >> we were on the dock and all of a sudden i lost my footing. and then i slipped in. the ice broke. and it was up to my chin. >> reporter: within minutes she couldn't feel her legs. >> i'm stuck. >> grab hold. one, two, three. >> reporter: in the frigid 36-degree water for 15 minutes, miller was saved. >> we got her out. >> reporter: but says once her ordeal was over another one began. this time in the comment section of the video posted on facebook. people body shaming miller making light of the situation by insulting her weight and even what she was wearing. >> i actually had two pairs of pants on and a hoodie and a winter coat. they actually kind of floated up and it made me feel like i was sinking then every time there was a pull i felt like i was

getting choked so we ripped those off so i could breathe and we could get me out of there. >> reporter: some people coming to her defense posting, stop body shaming people. so easy to sit behind a screen and be nasty to people. thank god they got her out in time and shame on people critizing her body shape. >> the trolls out there need to realize that there are people that will stand up for themselves. you need to bring people up instead of tearing people down. >> reporter: korisa miller says she used to weigh 400 pounds. she says people have no idea how hard she's worked to get to where she is right now. now, when the sheriff's department posted the video they didn't identify her but she says she had to come forward and speak up for herself. to put it into perspective it's been viewed more than 100,000 times. there were some really great positive comments on there as well but the negative ones stick out. >> coming forward was super brave on her part and super cowardly to criticize someone

welcome back to "gma" and now to some of the headlines that we're following this morning. a public health emergency as fears over the coronavirus outbreak spread. the number of deaths and cases in china rising and now at least 170 cases confirmed in other countries. president trump restricting the travel to foreign nationals to prevent its spread and major u.s. air carriers are canceling flights in and out of china. american citizens quarantined for the first time in more than half a century. major sell-off. the coronavirus and this global outbreak affecting the economy. the dow falling 603 points, more than 2% at closing on friday marking the dow's worst day since august with american delta and united suspending travel to china. u.s. airlines were especially hit hard.

americans eat 8.2 million pounds of tortilla chips on super bowl sunday. chef dale talde is here and your nacho game is very strong. thank you so much for being here with us. >> thanks for having me. >> i just want to point out rob and janai are our resident taste testers. they are down there. they are tasting everything. >> we're ready. >> no, no, no. >> they fought hard for these positions. >> not waiting for the rest of us. >> so we're making spicy shrimp nachos with a bacon and smoked chili queso. >> ooh. >> so the bacon is part of the cheese. >> 100%. >> tell us how this works. >> we cooked bacon in this pot here and left the bacon fat which is kind of the best part and we've made the base of our queso with that. onions, garlic, we put flour into it. we're going to add some milk into this. this is basically your queso. your cheese sauce, right? we add smoked chilies which are chipotles with some tomato into this and it turns into this wonderful concoction that we have here.

and this cooks out for a little bit and then you put basically all the cheeses. >> what kind of cheese do we use for the queso dip? >> pepper jack, we do cheddar and good old american cheese. >> i like that it feels american. >> yes. >> you got to deal with the tail and the chip. two-handed process. >> there's got to be a little bit of work. nothing is for free. >> come on, rob. >> our lazy meteorologist. >> after you've injected the bacon fat into your coronary arteries, what do you do with the shrimp? >> we put all the butter in the pan. we seasoned our shrimp with -- >> i hope dr. jen has not stayed. >> she can't see us right now. >> just hide this part from all the guests. >> it's one day a year. come on. >> exactly. >> this day is about not doing well tomorrow. >> testing your limits. >> exactly. we cook the shrimp in all the butter and a little pro tip, when you add the spices to -- please do.
