in san francisco a popular restaurant had its safe stolen overnight. they shared this surveillance video. this man broke into the building on hayes and golf street and tried to get into the safe but wasn't able to get it open so he took the whole thing. the general manager estimated about $5,000 was stolen. he released the video hoping someone would recognize the man and turn him in. in the south bay, san jose firefighters faced a series of dangerous challenges when they

battled flames in a illegal cannabis grow just before 8:00 this morning. firefighters had to break down a wall constructed behind the front door. crews then discovered another potentially deadly hazard. >> the occupants had tapped into the electrical system illegally and so we were unable to secure the electricity which makes the entire house unsafe. it makes it unsafe for us to spray water because it will conduct the electricity. >> pg&e crews shut off the power. tenants with were not there when firefighters arrived but police did speak with the landlord. a bay area chef is celebrating 50 years of restaurant success. his story is ahead. ladies and gentlemen, punxsutawney phil. >> also the most famous weather predictor in the county -- the country, maybe just a little more well-known than our very own drew tuma makes the call about weather -- about whether we'll have a early spring.

to watch paenz's most popular forecast deliver his forecast. according to legend an early spring is on the way. >> i'm glad you said pennsylvania's best known groundhog because the best known meteorologist is here. >> he's much more accurate than punxsutawney. >> yesterday it felt like spring. it was nice and warm. today much different. you felt the winds that ushered in colder air and tonight it is going to get rather cold as well. live doppler 7 showing you a light shower north of ukiah. that is about it. it is nothing but sunshine out there. and cold temperatures. compared today to yesterday, we're 16 degrees cooler in santa rosa, 10 degrees cooler in san jose. so across the entire bay area it is a cold finish to the weekend. right now we're in the 40s and 49 in cloverdale. at 54 minute city.

52 in san jose. 56 in oakland. but that is just part of the story. look at the winds right now. they are racing in san francisco. winds currently 45 miles per hour and gusts to 36 in half moon bay and the wind is cold. it is coming out of the north with the cold canadian air over northern california. so live doppler 7 is long with satellite radar showing the clip of cloud cover move through and that is the cold front and behind it colder air moved in and the winds ramped up this morning. we still have the wind advisory in effect until 4:00 a.m. tomorrow morning for essentially the entire bay area because the winds are gusting close to if not at 45 miles per hour. so future tracker wind gusts, through the overnight, the winds will back off a bit but even in the morning it is still breezy out there. winds gusting close to 20 miles per hour. tomorrow not nearly as windy as today. but it is still breezy for this time of the year.

you could see winds about 10 to 20 miles per hour even though that wind advisory will expire. so overnight tonight, cold. plenty of stars. we're dipping well into the 30s across much of the bay area. 30 in santa rosa tonight. 37 in san jose. 39 that low in oakland. so it is a cold start tomorrow. in the afternoon temperatures are below average. we bounce back into the low and mid-50s under plentiful sunshine but again it is breezy. tomorrow night, though, it gets even colder. a freeze watch will go into effect for the north bay where temperatures could dip well into the upper 20s. so the accuweather seven-day forecast, the next seven days for you, breezy and chilly tomorrow. there is the freezing cold morning on tuesday. we'll bounce back closer to average on wednesday and then go above average thursday and friday into the 60s. cool off a bit next week but still the next seven days are completely dry. >> did you think punxsutawney phil was a total scam growing? >> no. i loved it. he's not right 50% of the time,
