we do have to keep those plants, pets, and pipes protected. may have to scrape some ice for the ice to form on instead of the glass. we do have winds out there. look at sfo, 32, 22 in novato. 16 in napa, oakland, 21 miles an hour in san mateo. that kept temperatures up a little bit and kept us from freezing but then we have wind chills to deal with. 32 to 45. 50 to 52 at noon. 53 to 56 and 44 to 48 at at at i'm tracking the iowa caucus results at the live desk. the iowa democratic party postponed announcing a winner because of a problem counting votes. they will double-check results. voters used a mobile app to cast their votes this year.

and there appears to be a problem with the app. officials stress the delay is not because of a hack but they did not go into further detail. voters left the caucus disappointed. >> i'd rather them be accurate than rush it. if we have to wait a couple days, we have to. >> in one sense it's tough because we don't get to have a party tonight knowing what happens, but i'm also a person who wonders why we have to be in such a hurry for democracy anyway. >> there was no clear front-runner in iowa going into yesterday's vote. the candidates now turn their focus to new hampshire. >> thank you, jobina. developing news police in brisbane say there's no threat to the public after what appears to be a home invasion that turned deadly. it happened around 4:20 yesterday afternoon at a house on alvarado street near brisbane. they found a man shot to death.

it appears he was an intruder and the resident shot him. now that person is safe and cooperating with the investigation. police are still trying to determine if there was a connection between the resident and the person shot. >> we pride ourselves on our citizens and community here and we don't have very much violent crime here in brisbane. it's a very safe community. >> now police are asking for help with any details they can get from neighbors. we have their contact information on our website, abc7news.com. learning more about the man accused of opening fire on a greyhound bus headed for san francisco. police say a 33-year-old anthony williams is from maryland. he's been taken to the kern county jail. they say williams killed one person and hurt five others while the bus was driving up interstate 5. the bus driver got him off the bus and drove to a nearby gas station. the cause is still under investigation.

happening tonight president trump will deliver his state of the union address. it's unclear if he's going to talk about his senate impeachment trial. closing arguments for that resume today. >> democrats are making one last push to remove the president from office, but they don't have the votes to make it happen. abc news has more in the last few moments of the historic trial. >> reporter: the democrats just don't have the votes to convict the president but interestingly enough a growing number of republican senators say they think the president's actions were wrong but don't rise to the level of impeachment. in the senate impeachment trial of president trump both sides delivering closing arguments monday ahead of an expected acquittal. no gop senator indicating they would vote for trump's removal from office. >> i cannot vote to convict. >> reporter: with the result all but sealed, democrats instead urging their republican counterparts to view the trial through the lens of history. >> you can't trust this president to do the right thing, not for one minute, not for one

election, not for the sake of our country. >> reporter: trump's defense, meanwhile, arguing the impeachment process was partisan. >> these articles fail on their face as they do not meet the constitutional standard for impeachable offenses. >> reporter: still while republicans get set to acquit the president, a growing number disagree with his actions saying his pressure of ukraine to investigate joe biden was not right. >> i think it was wrong. >> reporter: closing arguments resume today. expect both sides to focus on how they want this trial to be remembered. the final vote happens tomorrow which should wrap up this months long impeachment. today the u.s. government is planning more flights to evacuate americans out of wuhan, china, the epicenter of the new coronavirus outbreak. evacuees will arrive at one of four u.s. bases including fairfield's travis air force base. more than 400 people have died in china with more than 20,000

because we have some road work going on that will slow people down as they make their way westbound. speeds on your screens about 20 to 32 miles an hour. it will pick right back up through the tunnel. the smash hit "hamilton" coming to movie theaters featuring the original broadway cast this is video from the san francisco production currently playing. abc 7's parent company, disney, is behind the film version, which i should mention, doesn't come out for another year and a half. new details this morning on the shooting of a santa clara county deputy. body armor and a body camera stopped the bullet that hit him in the chest. it happened friday night in a remote area near morgan hill. investigators call it an ambush and are still looking for the shooter. here is anchor ama daetz. >> i think i was hit. >> copy. you were hit. do you know where you are? >> reporter: the sheriff's office provided that audio of the wounded deputy calling for help and showed a picture of his body camera damaged by the bullet. the sheriff says the suspect

drove up and fired at least four shots at gill. he was hit once and is now recovering at home. >> he was very lucky. he was very brave under fire. >> reporter: he returned fire but it's unclear if the suspect was hit. investigators say gill is a practicing sikh and it's possible he was targeted because of his religion. >> he wears the head dress and the traditional garb. we support him. it's unknown whether it's a hate crime or just a crime of opportunity against law enforcement. >> that was abc 7 news reporter ama daetz reporting. 18-year-old wiggins faces special circumstances murder as well as a felony count of second degree robbery. two other suspects are already in custody. shuo zeng died new year's eve as he chased after those who stole

his laptop at a starbucks. walgreens will settle a consumer protection case. it alleges the pharmacy giant let a phony pharmacist handle more than 745,000 prescriptions here in the bay area. walgreens employed a 44-year-old milpitas woman for more than a decade even though she wasn't licensed by the state of california. the woman worked as a pharmacist in milpitas, san jose and fremont up until 2017. she faces felony charges in alameda county. stub hub cut 93 jobs at its san francisco headquarters as the company plans to be sold off. the cuts came over the past two weeks according to state filings. they come a couple months after stub hub's parent company ebay said that it would sell the ticket reselling service to swiss rival for $4 billion. it's not quite clear how many work at the sf headquarters. the laid off workers would receive 60 days advanced notice or payment for that amount of time.

of their place on university avenue in berkeley. the lutheran church of the cross oversees the shelr. 20 to 30 people sleep there every night away from the streets, but the church feels they need a more stabilized environment. >> for years they've been sleeping on mats in one of our rooms because we can't give them the dedicated space because our church has a number of other renters. as long as they have no other place to go they're welcome to stay with us. it's just not an ideal situation. >> the church says they are still in negotiations with the nonprofit that runs the shelter, so nothing is final. we want to hear your ideas about building a better bay area. the university of california is considering getting rid of the s.a.t. and act requirement in admissions. even if that happens students may still need to take a standardized test. the chronicle is reporting a uc faculty committee recommended the uc system create its own exam. the committee says standardized
