7 candidates on the stage. we're getting ready. the candidates are getting ready. can't wait for it to start. >> well, we'll see you soon. >> big debate tonight. much more with george in a moment. first breaking developments in the coronavirus outbreak. we know at least 11 americans are battling the disease infected on that diamond princess cruise ship docked in japan. >> and take a look. that royal caribbean cruise ship in new jersey is also being held right now as 12 passengers get screened for the virus. this as cases spike around the globe, and the world health organization warns the virus hasn't peaked yet. will carr starts us off from travis air force base with the very latest. good morning, will. >> reporter: and, michael, another group of americans evacuated from the hot zone in china landed at the air force base behind me. the cdc says they will be tested every step of the way, but this morning we're seeing that in confined spaces like cruise ships, the coronavirus is spreading quickly. this morning, 11 americans quarantined on the diamond princess cruise in japan have tested positive for the novel

coronavirus. rebecca frazier, an oregon resident, is just 1 of the 41 new cases of coronavirus discovered on this cruise ship. more than 60 passengers have now been infected. rebecca's husband says she'll be in the hospital for 10 to 12 days. now, kent tells us his temperature is jumping and he's worried he may be infected as well with the conditions worsening on board. roger and kathy maniscalco are trapped in their rooms. >> a little scary to be on board. the numbers just keep climbing. >> reporter: the situation so bad, one passenger writes on social media that they can hear painful coughs from a passenger in a nearby room. and now the chinese doctor who sounded the alarm on novel coronavirus has died from the disease he was so concerned about. early on dr. li wenliang warned his colleagues that the symptoms he was seeing in several patients were similar to sars. shortly after, local authorities

tried to silence him, some even calling his warnings fake news. while dr. li was only 34, the new report shows that the median age of coronavirus patients appears to be between 49 and 56 and that cases in children have been rare. there are also new reports that the chinese government is doubling down on its efforts to contain the virus including house-to-house searches in wuhan now essentially a ghost town, reportedly rounding up those infected and placing them in makeshift quarantine centers. meanwhile as hundreds of americans including these two planes this morning have evacuated from wuhan to military bases here in the united states, at least nine of the evacuees including frank and his daughter annabel have been taken to the hospital after exhibiting symptoms. >> we're in this hospital probably for the next three days until the cdc comes back. >> reporter: this morning the first possible cases of coronavirus on board a ship docking in the united states,

this royal caribbean ship arriving in bayonne, new jersey with 12 chinese nationals on board. they have been isolated after experiencing breathing problems and other pulmonary issues. the cdc is now rushing to that ship in new jersey to test all the passengers showing symptoms. as for the americans coming back from china, by the end of the day there will be around a thousand quarantined on military bases across the country. cecilia. >> okay, will carr, thank you. we are now joined by karey and roger maniscalco of utah. they are on that diamond princess cruise ship that will was just telling us about. thank you, both, so much for joining us. we cannot even begin to imagine what you have been going through. this was supposed to be a two-week cruise. you're going to be on this ship for a month. what are the conditions like? >> they're somber. it's pretty quiet on the ship just because, you know, i think everybody is still initially in shock. it's been -- today is day three,

and so it's still pretty quiet, you know. everybody's still in their rooms. so -- >> it's been tough with the news of another 41 passengers being sick. it just kind of quieted down even more. so, you know, it's been tough. >> are you talking to us right now from your room on the cruise ship? >> yes. >> that's correct. >> how are you both feeling at this point? >> absolutely fine. >> yeah, we're perfectly healthy. they gave us thermometers for each of us to take our temperatures throughout the day and if they go above 37.5 degrees celsius you're to report. >> and will are you doing -- it's self-testing that you are doing or are you being checked regularly by doctors on the ship? >> it's self-checking. >> how much contact are you having with anybody else on that ship? >> none. >> none. >> just you guys in the room alone? >> yes. >> that's it. >> can you leave the room at all? >> we've been here for about four days. >> we are not allowed to.

>> there were reports some people are allowed to at least go outside and get some fresh air. when was the last time you had fresh air? >> well, we have a balcony, so we can open up our balcony and get fresh air, but they just barely started late last night letting some of the interior cabins go in small groups of two. i think it's up to the top deck to get some air, and they have specific rules. they have to wear masks. masks and gloves, and stay within a meter apart of each other. >> they're being watched as well to make sure they follow those rules so that they can just continue to do so and it's anybody who has a stateroom that does not have a window in it whatsoever, which would make sense to us even so let them go out and get some fresh air for about an hour and a half, two hours, and then they go on to the next state rooms from there. >> you'll be in this room you're in for the next two weeks. how big is it? >> i looked it up and it's 211

george, it's still early in the race but this debate comes at a critical time. >> boy, it sure does. after that unsettled result in iowa, they may not even declare a winner before the new hampshire primary on tuesday, and this is the last debate before that primary, just four days away right now, and so this debate could have a huge impact on what happens here in new hampshire. up on the stage tonight joe biden is going to be front and center. he's going to have bernie sanders and pete buttigieg to his right. elizabeth warren and amy klobuchar and tom steyer to his left. and mary bruce is right up there by the podiums right now. >> reporter: good morning, george. well this could be the fiercest clash of the campaign season yet. tonight on this stage the candidates facing off for the first time since those chaotic caucuses in iowa and with those results still in dispute, what happens here in new hampshire is now more critical than ever. in new hampshire, this morning, the race for 2020 moving at full speed. >> hello, derry. >> thank you, concord. >> new hampshire is not the kind of place to let iowa or anybody else tell you what to do. >> reporter: the candidates

preparing to face off on the debate stage tonight, all eyes on bernie sanders and pete buttigieg. both of them now claiming victory in iowa. >> when you run and you get more votes than your opponent, in this case 6,000 more, you're usually considered the winner. i got 6,000 more votes than mr. buttigieg. >> it has been an extraordinary week, and we are absolutely electrified by the energy that we are coming here with. >> reporter: the state party now reporting 100% of the results but those results are still in dispute. the head of the national democratic party is calling for a total review of every bit of paper trail in iowa. after admitting he took a gut punch in the caucuses, the pressure is on for joe biden. >> i'm not going anywhere. and i'm counting on new hampshire. we're going to come back. >> reporter: out of sight thursday the former vice president spent the day at home off the campaign trail preparing for the debate. tonight he'll be front and center and he's already been sharpening his attacks against rivals like sanders. >> he calls himself a democratic

socialist. well, we're already seeing what donald trump is going to do with that. >> reporter: massachusetts senator elizabeth warren is looking for a much needed win in new hampshire. tonight a chance to flex her near home state advantage. >> this is a moment when people are off the sidelines and people are ready to get in this fight. >> reporter: for andrew yang, tom steyer and amy klobuchar this could be one of their last chances to break through. >> this is a state that has a big tradition of basically giving candidates a chance they think can win in the election. >> reporter: now, sanders and buttigieg will be the night's top targets and here on the stage, george, they are standing right next to each other and right there in the middle will be joe biden. after his distant fourth place finish in iowa he needs a strong showing here tonight. we do expect him to be more aggressive, but, george, the stakes for him are tremendous. >> okay, mary, thanks very much. let's talk about it with our chief political analyst matthew dowd and mary was getting at it,

new hampshire has a history of kind of scrambling the results. a lot of changes in the final couple of days which makes this debate so important. >> this debate becomes even more important than the unresolved results in iowa at this point because it's going to settle where this race fundamentally goes. i think this race right now is heading towards a two-person race, a different two-person race than we thought a week ago which we thought joe biden and bernie sanders and now it's becoming much more of a two-person race between bernie sanders and pete buttigieg and that's, i think, what the other candidates have to figure out how to crack. >> yeah, they've got to get some momentum going. in these final four days. meantime, mike bloomberg hanging out, spending a ton of money on super tuesday states and this morning announcing the endorsement of donald trump's former navy secretary. >> yeah, i think as we say a two-person race of the field that's moving forward in these states but a two-person race to face michael bloomberg in the huge contest coming up on super tuesday. i think we are at the point joe

three people. >> reporter: deadly storms blasting through the southeast. at least 23 reported tornadoes. one crushing this mobile home in tampa bay with a woman inside. she survived. damaging winds up to 70 miles per hour, powerful enough to fling a road sign onto this car in raleigh, north carolina. watch as the driver in atlanta has to navigate as a tree falls on the highway. at least a half foot of rain in the southern appalachians forcing water rescues in raven, virginia. their town cut off. all roads inundated. in richmond, virginia, a state of emergency. 500 now displaced and dozens rescued. roads collapsing from kentucky to tennessee. this man battling a severe storm in spartanburg, south carolina, trying to keep that door shut at a furniture store. in tennessee a bus split in half by a falling tree, killing a woman on board and injuring four others. and two people were killed in alabama after a storm tore

accused of victimizing multiple women. now they are breaking their silence as criminal charges against them have been dropped. kayna whitworth sat down with them and joins us now from southern california. good morning, kayna. >> reporter: hey, cecilia, good morning. they sat with me telling me that life as they knew it was over. they have been basically been living in exile. they have been kick off rideshare apps. today they're hoping these charges will be dismissed and they will be vindicated. >> i feel like i finally woke up from a bad nightmare and feel like i can breathe again. >> reporter: this morning newport beach dr. grant robicheaux and his girlfriend, cerissa riley, are speaking out for the first time. >> just still in shock. still can't believe this has happened to us. >> reporter: facing life in prison accused of 17 felonies including five counts of sexual assault. they learned this week the charges were being dropped after an investigation by the newly elected district attorney. robicheaux who appeared on the

bravo reality show "online dating rituals of the american male" -- >> orthopedic surgeon will make a lot of girls' ears light up. >> reporter: -- was fired from his job and forced to leave his home in 2018 when a former d.a. accused them of drugging and sexually assaulting seven women, warning the public it could be upwards of a thousand victims. robicheaux says he and his girlfriend became pariahs. his medical license suspended. >> i feared every time i'd walk my dog that somebody was going to shoot or stab me, somebody was going to follow through with these threats on me or my family, you know. >> you were getting actual death threats. >> you couldn't stop it. >> reporter: the former d.a. calling robicheaux a predator. >> i think the thing that stuck out in my mind and hurt the most, i think it was unprecedented appetite for sex with unconscious women. i mean, i have sisters. i have a mom.

like, it's disgusting. >> reporter: the couple acknowledges their swinger lifestyle, but deny any allegations of nonconsensual sex. did you ever think what if one of those women was too inebriated to really give consent? >> it wasn't ever a question. >> never, never a question. >> these women aren't backing down, though, some of them. i mean, there's still a civil case. i spoke with two lawyers who represent women who claim that they were sexually assaulted by you both. what do you have to say to that? >> again, we've maintained our innocence from day one. >> we've never hurt anyone. >> as more women started to come forward, though, did you ever think in your own mind, did we cross the line at some point? >> never. >> absolutely not.

>> reporter: former d.a. tony rauckauckas says -- he suspects new evidence may have led to the dismissal, but he says he believes the accusers maintained they were assaulted. >> this is a huge disappointment for those victims. it's not easy for these ladies to come forward, and to bare their soul about such humiliating things and, you know, make their statement to the authorities and they have done that with the expectation that this case would be -- would be prosecuted. >> reporter: the couple says they're now hoping to move on from this chapter in their lives. >> the truth is, though, that this really isn't over for their lives. if the charges are dismissed as we all expect for them to be, they're not walking back into their same life. >> their life is done. that life as they know it and they had a successful life, professionally, and they had a very fulfilling life and they had relationships and friends and that's gone. >> reporter: now the couple will likely be pursuing legal action to rebuild their lives, but this

we're if i can going to tur those breaking developments in the coronavirus outbreak as cases spike around the globe. at least 11 americans are battling the virus now infected on that diamond princess cruise ship docked near japan. earlier this morning i spoke with two american passengers on that ship, karey and roger maniscalco, who are stuck in very close quarters. >> just barely started late last night letting some of the interior cabins go in small groups up to -- i think it's up to the top deck to get some air. and they have specific rules. they have to wear masks, gloves and stay within a meter apart of each other. >> now let's go back over to will carr at travis air force base with more on the situation there. good morning again, will. >> reporter: cecilia, a plane packed with hundreds of americans evacuating from the hot zone in china touching down on the air force base behind me early this morning. it comes that we're seeing that

in confined spaces like cruise ships, the coronavirus can spread quickly. more than 60 passengers have now been infected on a quarantined ship in japan including those 11 americans. we're also seeing the first possible cases on a ship docking in the united states. the cdc is now rushing to a cruise ship in new jersey to test passengers for symptoms. this as one of the first doctors to sound the alarm about the coronavirus has died after becoming infected by the virus he was so concerned about. as for the americans who have evacuated from china, by the end of the day, around a thousand will be quarantined on military bases all across the country. michael? >> all right, thank you, will. we'll bring in our chief medical associate dr. jennifer ashton. and, doc, we hear so much about isolation. >> yeah. >> they have americans returning. is it appropriate to isolate these americans returning from china? >> not only is it appropriate, it is part of the key steps in controlling an outbreak so the steps of any outbreak control are identify, we've done that, isolate, that's where the quarantine comes in, and travel restrictions, quarantine, are

long time. >> reporter: when she decided she was ready rachel adopted pip and then a few weeks later huck, a lab mix followed. >> huck had been found living under a trailer. had never had any human interaction. he was afraid of everything. >> reporter: the couple enrolled huck in a puppy training program and his personality shifted. >> he's so excited to meet new people and meet new dogs. >> reporter: rachel started taking him on daily walks and unlikely passion emerged. >> we would just start picking up stuff we'd find along the road and huck just thought it was this great game. so one day there was this cardboard drink holder and grabbed it up and carried it two miles home. >> like that trash truck huck was born. rachel now documenting their finds on instagram. >> i thought maybe we could actually use this to kind of encourage people to clean up after themselves. >> reporter: huck proving every effort counts to help keep our planet clean.
