good sunday morning to you. it is february 9th. i'm julian glover. we have a whole lot to discuss on abc 7 mornings. we have to start it off with meteorologist lisa argen because we are talking about really gusty wind outside this morning. as i was crossing the bay bridge this morning, lisa, definitely 10:00 and 2:00 on the steering wheel. >> no doubt about that. gustiest winds we've seen have been upwards 87 miles an hour around mount saint helena. surface winds at 30 miles an hour out of northeast novato, santa rosa, concord,

37-mile-an-hour winds. we have winds pretty much all around the bay area. that's why we have wind advisory above 1,000 feet. gusts to 48 mount diablo, mount tam. look at the foothills, 40 miles an hour, 32 on top of mount diablo. monday morning north, northeast winds sustained 35 miles an hour. gusts in the upper elevations could be up to auto -- 50 and0 0 miles an hour. bayshore no advisory, just under advisory category. 50s and 60s. this afternoon in the 50s but dry. countdown is on, hours away from the 92nd oscars. live at the dolby theater in hollywood what we can expect on hollywood's biggest night. good morning, ram in, a. >> good morning, as final touches on the red carpet behind

stage? >> it is. they have a long list of presenters and performers, last year. >> a lot of people looking forward to billie eilish, thanks, ramina. you can watch the 92nd oscars, coverage begins on abc 7. we want to get you to developing news in the bay area. san francisco police investigating a shooting involved an off duty fbi agent. it happened just after 11:30 on ashberry street near haight. police say the agent shot a man. he was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries we're told. details about what led up to the shooting not being released right now. police are asking anyone with information to contact the department. this morning richmond police are looking for hit-and-run driver who took the life of a 4-year-old boy. it happened friday.

abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard spoke with the child's family and this morning they are demanding justice. >> happy, like doggy. >> she says her her son hector desperately wanted a pet. it's just one memory with hector she's sharing with us. the unthinkable happened friday. richmond police say a hit-and-run driver struck hector as the family was getting out of the car. >> translator: he didn't help. he just run away. i just saw my son on the floor. >> we were really hurt by it and feel for the family. >> neighbor quincy witnessed the incident. >> i looked up and there was a bang. it sounded like breaking plastic. the car stopped. i looked at the person, made eye contact with him. >> security cameras captured

more people than the sars virus did in the early 2000s. concern in china is still high but here in the bay area it did not put a damp er on the bigges lunar celebration outside of china. responsible for the deaths of 811, including one american. more than 37,000 people infected with the virus, and that number is still growing. according to cdc, 12 people have tested positive for the virus in the u.s. 100 more americans are under investigation. according to the "new york times," the rate of new infections each day at the source of the outbreak in china seems to be stabilizing. world health organization say the area is still in the midst of an intense outbreak. last night in san francisco, it was one of the largest lunar celebrations outside of china. again, amid the concern over coronavirus, thousands packed the streets to celebrate traditions that date back

thousands of years. abc 7 news reporter ansar hanson was there. >> reporter: fireworks and lion dances set off the lunar new year's parade in san francisco, traditions that go back thousands of years. it's an important time of year to be with family. >> we wanted to teach the chinese heritage and culture. they also enjoy the history of it. >> his kids in line to watch their favorite dances. >> lion dance. >> that's the best part? >> yeah. >> this woman brought her family visiting from china. she says they don't usually celebrate at home. >> they haven't seen it in years. they are so happy to see it here in a foreign country. >> the parade was packed with floats and dances. one thing missing this year, the crowds. there was lots of empty spaces along the usually packed parade route. some predicting smaller crowds because of the coronavirus in china and parts of asia.

victims will be held monday february 24th at the staples center in los angeles. hollywood's biggest night is here, and we're getting an exclusive look behind the scene look at the oscars. chris conley sat down with producers of the big show and has the details. >> reporter: back stage before this year's academy awards, a dazzling winners awaits 2020 recipients revealed by the show's producers. >> it means a lot to win an award, to win an oscar here. we're happy to be part of that. >> i think ultimately there's just nothing like the oscar, and it's been around for so long. >> the legacy. >> with the big show drawing near, stephanie elaine and anett howell taylor offering behind the scenes glimpses of the oscar nominations. >> what was it like seeing the set? >> it was thrilling, one of the most thrilling parts. we both got emotional. >> we did, first time we saw it up. there were tears. >> they are promising musical performances from such nominees

as elton john and oscar invitee billie eilish fresh off her grammy triumph, and janelle monae. >> i think it will have good pace, feel theatrical. there's more music moments than they have had in the show in the recent years. >> what can we expect from musical numbers? what will we see that will surprise or delight us? >> it won't be a surprise if we tell you. >> both of you have included diversity in making movies. what can you do with this show, make a young director, a woman of color, make her feel like she has a place at the hollywood table? >> from the beginning, we always wanted the show to feel diverse and inclusive. i think our choices in terms of what we can make a difference in in terms of presenters and musical numbers, that's where you'll feel a great sense of inclusion. >> and 64 women were nominated

this year for oscars, and that's a huge record. >> a huge number. >> almost all of the best picture nominees were produced by women. >> what kind of moments can you create on stage that will make the next person like that feel like i'm going to be up there next. >> you'll see. >> chris conley, abc news, los angeles. >> they are giving nothing away. that's why you've got to watch to see what's going to happen. watching the coors tomorrow, "live with kelly and ryan" will be hosting annual after the oscars show. it will celebrate biggest moments of the stars and oscars. you can catch the special oscars edition on "live with kelly and ryan." we have you covered everything oscars today and tomorrow as well. meantime meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the forecast as you wake up on this sunday. hey, lisa. >> hey there, julian. it's clear, windy out there. our wind advisory starts at 7:00 this morning but the atmosphere has allowed for gusty winds

starting in the upper levels, working down to the surface and really verifying 25 to 30 miles an hour right where we live but upper elevations are windier. notice the big picture where it's dry, clouds in southern california. a system down there could bring a few sprinkles throughout the first part of the day. 51 belmont, 52 san mateo, 50s hayward and fremont. so temperatures seem pretty mild but you add in the wind and that's a different story. northeast winds up to 47 miles an hour by the delta. hayward 23-mile-an-hour winds. looking all around the bay, the surface winds are up to 33 miles an hour, santa rosa at the coast over 30 miles an hour. could have delays with that wind shear at the airport. take a look what happens up at 1,000 feet. 68-mile-an-hour wind gusts, mount saint helena, 58 mount diablo, mount tam 48-mile-an-hour wind gusts and foothills up to 40 miles an hour. we have got that offshore flow.

if it was any time other than february, we would definitely have a fire weather watch. looking at some pretty dangerous conditions. but we've had some moisture in january, nothing in february, you know. as we go throughout the day, the winds continue to gust. here we are 2:00 and looking at 30-mile-an-hour wind gusts from oakland. better than that in livermore. all over the bay you've got red, yellows, 7:00 begin to ease in parts of the bay. we've got wind advisory through the overnight hours into early monday morning. still gusty out there. it's past noontime when things begin to settle down around the bay. so those offshore winds keeping us dry, keeping the fog out of the bay and looking at a pretty gusty scenario throughout the afternoon. we'll have the sun but the dry pattern looking to last through the holiday. that's presidents' day. here is a look at the north bay, see the camera shaking. as we look at the rainfall season, this is what we received in the first column, 15" in

santa rosa since the season started and the ample next to it in blue. you can see 60% in san francisco and down to about 47% oakland. livermore 40% of average with just over 2 1/3" of rain. falling well behind, of course. no rain in the outlook. wind today, tomorrow, into tuesday. 61 in oakland. look for low 60s in concord. we have the winds with us keeping it cool throughout the afternoon. in southern california they also have a wind advisory but showers throughout the first half of the day. showers end by 3:00, a few sprinkles near 60. accuweather seven-day forecast with temperatures in the 50s at the coast. gusty, cool day. low- to mid-60s elsewhere. winds calm down by the afternoon. a string of sunny and milder days. once again cooling back by the end of the week. kind of a good day to stay inside and watch the oscars. >> there you go. it's on abc 7, so you don't even

overnight hours, 52 in the city, 40 gilroy, 50 on the c.o.w.s. from the roof camera, it looks nice. it feels cold and blustery with winds anywhere from 20 to 30 miles an hour at the surface. when you do up in height and looking aggressive. at the airport 33 miles an hour surface winds as well as santa rosa. let's go up 1,000 feet. you'll notice mount saint helena at 50 miles an hour. how about mount diablo, 70-mile-an-hour wind gusts. if this was any time other than february, we would definitely be looking at fire conditions. but we've had some moisture into january. the wind advisory not right around the bayshore line. still breezy there, though, but we're looking at the strongest winds north and east bay hills. we're in the 50s to low 60s throughout the day. the winds will ease a little bit tonight. julian. >> thank you, lisa. the final push heading into the new hampshire primary. democratic presidential candidates are sharpening their

attacks against one another particularly taking aim at mayor pete buttigieg and bernie sanders who find themselves at the front of the pack in the latest polls. trevoror ault with the latest. >> julian, good evening. we're in the final stretches in new hampshire with no clear nationwide winner in the race, they seem to be showing a new willingness to attack one another as they fight for the nomination. with only two days before the te primary, joe biden taking aim at mayor beatipete buttigieg. >> joe biden helped save the auto industry which revived the economy in the midwest. pete buttigieg revitalized the sidewalks of downtown south bend by laying out decorative brick. >> launching that scathing new attack ad belittling the mayor's lack of national experience. >> this guy is not a barack obama. barack obama had been a senator for a large state. >> reporter: buttigieg rocketed

toward the top of the polls after a strong iowa finish. >> some folks are out there saying what business does a mayor of south bend have running for presidency. you don't have an office in washington, but that's exactly the point. >> senator bernie sanders who dominated in new hampshire last go-round is once again at the top of the pack. >> people want health care. how do we stop it. they ain't going to stop in. >> senator amy klobuchar riding a wave of energy after a strong debate performance she's hoping will relate to a higher showing while senator elizabeth warren slipping in the polls spent the weekend knocking on doors, gathering support. last night just about every candidate was at a democratic party fundraiser here in new hampshire. the line that got the biggest cheer was from bernie sanders who says no matter who the nominee is, the party will unite behind them in order to beat president trump. that may be true but the party is divided on who has the best shot of beating the president. in manchester, new hampshire,

a familiar face just traded to miami. we'll see if he's in uniform monday night. have a great sunday. >> thank you, chris. now we want a look at the bay area forecas. meteorologist lisa argen has been very busy. >> hey. wind whipped out there, clear sky. we haveind advisory, verifying certainly at the surface upper elevations. it is allowing for south texas in the 40s and 50s. what is that concern? it's almost the entire bay area. not right around the bayshore but will be breezy there. we're looking right now at winds at the surface from 20 to 40 miles an hour. but you go up about 1,000 feet and gusts in excess of 60 miles an hour. possibility of some limbs coming down, maybe some power outages. if it was not february, we would be looking at those offshore winds bringing high fire danger. we have a little moisture in january. much more in december. we've had nothing in february, like i need to remind you of

that. the big picture shows a big carving out of high pressure to the east of us, low pressure along the coast. the flow around that high is making breezy to gusty winds. surface winds 37 miles an hour in concord. you're looking at 32 miles an hour in livermore, hayward at 23 miles an hour. the airport could see some delays on flights trying to take off in santa rosa. it's been awfully windy. if you're not windy yet, you will be looking at mount saint helena, winds at 50 miles an hour. overnight we had wind gust of 47 miles an hour. mount tam 48 wind gust, mount diablo, 40 miles an hour, down to the south bay east foothills 40 miles an hour. look at the roof camera. it is certainly gusty out there, 52 downtown, 45 san jose, looking at 50 on the coast. the view from the east bay nice and clear with 51 santa rosa. you know something is going on when it's 51 in santa rosa in february. 53 in concord.

here is a look at the wind gusts throughout the afternoon. so the reds, purples indicate the very gusty winds. you can see they are coming from the east pushing all across the bay. 2:00 in the afternoon, 30 miles an hour from oakland down through hayward, redwood city, half moon bay. as we get to sunset, things change, wind advisory, 7:00 in the morning, still gusty out there. it's not until the afternoon, afternoon time, where we see the winds ease up. you know, there's another event coming into tuesday we could see more wind. here is a look at sfo where it's clear out there. breezy to windy, strong gusty winds with the sunshine. the dry pattern continuing into pesidents' day it looks like. we're talking about no rain so far for the month of february. 60 in fremont, 61 in san jose. anywhere from about 40 to 70% of average is where we stand so far across the bay area in terms of rainfall. breezy, a few sprinkles later on

the studio is known for its amazing cgi. this is the first fully 2d animated project. the 2d style reduces the budget and production time while enhancig personality traits of the main character. >> the kitten could not have been done without the hand drawn quality because the kitten is unpredictable and spastic. so every drawing is always going to be different from animator to animator. >> while "kitbull" is tight on purse strings, it tugs heavily on heart strings. two animals who have never known love or friendship finding it in each other. discovering happiness. >> was there an element of you in either of the characters? >> definitely. the kitten is the one i started with and just poured more of my experience and point of view into. it was the character that struggled with connection and learning to be vulnerable. that's something i struggled with growing up.
