folks traveling on highway 101. running sunday through thursday nights as cal trans works to convert express lanes and create new express lanes in other parts of this 22-mile stretch of highway. we want to give you a map to let you get a better idea how your drive might be affected by this. existing car-pool lanes will be converted to express lanes between the san mateo line and whipple ave and new express lanes will be constructed from whipple ave north to i-380 in south san francisco. now this work will be in both the northbound and southbound lanes. when work is completed express lanes will allow car-pool vehicles with three or more people to drive for free. other drivers, of course, can pay with fastrak. prices will vary from a couple bucks to more than $10.

help fight coronavirus. there are two confirmed cases in the county. supervisors voted to declare that local emergency yesterday. they believe it will help the county deal with the financial side of battling an outbreak. >> make sure that we can spend resources as necessary and getting reimbursed from the federal and state government. >> health officials say the disease has not been spread person to person in santa clara county and there is no increased risk at this point to people in the county. we have answers to the top seven on our website, abc7news.com including the symptoms and the best way we can protect ourselves. happening today the man charged in the stabbing death of b.a.r.t. passenger nia wilson is expected to take the stand, a day after the jury heard emotional testimony from wilson's two sisters. letifah broke down in sobs on the stand describing the attack. she was also stabbed but

survived. nia's other sister tashiya also broke down in tears as she testified. the suspect john lee cowell was not in the courtroom for the second day and we really don't know why, his absence wasn't explained. cowell's attorney says his client is mentally ill. a chp officer faces several charges of sexual assault involving a girl. 34-year-old brian watkins is accused of having a sexual relationship that began when the victim was 16. fremont police launched an investigation last july. they say watkins continued the relationship even after learning about it. a plan to let people camp inside their rvs at parking lots owned by the city. a survey found people lived in 193 rvs along berkeley's streets and many observers feel that number has grown.

69 today in san diego. a little breezy around yosemite and tahoe. 58 and 47 for tahoe and the record high is 54. we'll get near 52 thursday before temperatures start to taper with that chance. snow sunday. the public works director has resigned as he fights public corruption charges. agents arrested nuru and nick bovis last month. they say nuru tried to bribe an official into giving bovis a license for the airport. they say nuru wasn't immediately fired because the city had to follow legal procedures. nasa plans to return to the moon by 2024. the space agency plans to see its budget increase to meet the goal. nasa engineers are working to not only return america to the

moon but to explore deeper into space. >> reporter: a critical aspect launching astronauts back to the moon in four years is a performance of the sls. researchers are subjecting this model of the sls to winds up to 2,000 miles an hour inside a 9x7 foot wind tunnel. it is covered with pressure sensitive paint. the test produces color coded visualizations to show where it's enduring high or low pressure. fluctuations can lead to instability or damage to the payload. data is transferred to alabama. >> putting this on the supercomputers, they can log on and produce results. the next day it's ready for new changes. >> reporter: congress is being asked to boost nasa's next

the truck was parked outside the metro hotel in the haight. they planned to display the work inside. friday police found the vehicle. the art was still there. she says the pieces were undamaged and her prayers paid off. a texas teen growing out his hair for his sick sister decided to leave his school rather than cut it off. his 11-year-old sister is undergoing chemo. the treatment is causing all of her hair to fall out and he wants to donate his hair to locks of love to create a wig for her. his high school told him he had to cut his hair off or leave the school. he said the choice was easy. >> it made me feel good i could do something for her. >> pick your battles. if it's something you believe in, you just have to go for it. >> school policy requires males to keep hair above their ears and shirt collar. the principal said he discovered
