a coronavirus quarantine kept a south bay family separated for weeks. tonight that special reun wrn. >> a sharp increase and new developments in the coronavirus outbreak. two people fighting for their lives. we have the video moments after the crash. abc 7 news starts right now. >> live breaking news. i see. i see when that happened. >> very upsetting. breaking news tonight, emotional witnesses try to describe what they saw when a vehicle plow under to pedestrians at a busy intersection. >> officers responded to the

scene around 4:20 at 23rd and mission street. kris. >> reporter: good evening. i'm right at the intersection where it happened and that's because this road opened about an hour ago. it was a chaotic scene here. we've got the video. take a look. this is cell phone video of the scene sent to us by a viewer taken moments after the crash. it happened on missions street and twerd. this shot from sky 7 show as car stopped in the middle of the street with a bumper torn off. >> video surveillance confirms we have a driver, along with a female passenger, traveling westbound on 23rd. simultaneously we had a muni bus going westbound.

the first -- >> reporter: police say the vehicle then grazed the seconds passenger before hitting the pedestrian in the crosswalk. the second was treated and released. two men, the bus passenger and person crossing the street, were taken on the hospital in critical condition. both from san francisco, one 49 and the other 34. the man in who works thin area saw the impact. >> i saw when that happened on the corner. so, i feel really bad because i don't know if that guy has died or no. >> reporter: the driver left for about five min btsfore returning . this is where he was give an field sobriety test. the prius driver remained on scene but not investigated. >> i don't know his degree of sobriety, but we'll conduct a further investigation to

determine that. >> reporter: police have yet to release the name of the driver of the prius. for abc 7 news. >> also breaking right now an opera performance and thousands of homes suddenly went to black in san francisco. pg&e blames it on a failure of underground equipment. this pg&e map shows the area impacted. some 9100 customers were without power. most in the hate ash bury areas. all the power has since been restored. a magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck tonight just after 7:30. about ten-miles south of hollister. several dozen people reported feeling the quake. it's likely most were at the center. there's been no reports of injuries or damage.
