in the south bay, san jose police are investigating a crash after a car plowed through a fence and into somebody's yard. it happened on carl street near sullivan avenue. a parked truck was also hit. there's no word on what caused the driver to lose control or if there are possible injuries. the driver was seen speaking to police. your voice, your vote. we can expect to see more visits from presidential candidates in the coming weeks. >> former south bend indiana pete buttigieg will be in san francisco and palo alto and protesters will be waiting for him. activists say the openly gay candidate must do more to address the concerns of the lbgtq community and people of color they say these groups suffer the most from gentrification and the housing crisis and that buttigieg should take time to listen to them, not just wealthy donors. senator bernie sanders wants you to cast your votes now. the presidential candidate will hold a get out the early vote

rally in richmond on monday. campaign volunteers will collect vote by mail ballots during the rally and turn them in. the primary election date is march 3rd. california voters can make last-minute changes to their voter registration without it affecting their ballots. voters are now allowed to change parties and update their address through election day without re-registering to vote. the new law goes into effect immediately. voters who make last-minute changes had to cast provisional ballots which are counted after election officials confirm their registration status. new developments in the coronavirus outbreak. more than 64,000 people have gotten sick worldwide. the death toll is close to 1,400. earlier today officials in japan said four more people tested positive for the virus. one of them is a taxi driver who had given rides to passengers

businesses face in trying to build a better bay area is crime. look at this surveillance video from nob hill pizza on california street in san francisco. most employees were in the back preparing pick-ups and driveries around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. this guy just walks in, opens the register and took off with a load of cash. >> we believe he came before, he knew how we opened the cash register. he knew where the keys were. he took the money. the middle of the day, the heart of san francisco, that's crazy. >> that's terrible. the shop owner says his wife was at the counter when this happened and thank goodness she wasn't hurt. three people were detained by san francisco police for a robbery in the heart of the financial district. this happened just after 6:00 last night on broadway at battery street. police detained two people around the corner. another person was detained a few blocks away on clay street. attorney general william barr says president trump's constant

"dukes of hazzard" but this happened in real life. a driver hit an island in the middle of the street, catapulting her car into the air. this is insane. she smashed into a parked car. witnesses claim the vehicle was traveling pretty fast, but they say it was around 100 miles per hour, amazingly she didn't have serious injuries. the driver is under investigation for dui. >> i missed the fact she hit that bolder and the bolder went flying. crazy. a san mateo flower shop is ready for the valentine's day rush. >> it's all hands on deck for the shop which has been operating since 1983. >> you're supposed to help me, scott. >> the family-owned business made flower arrangements for celebrities like oprah and shirley temple over the years.

down as they sat in a parked minivan in the parking lot of the searles elementary school. neighbors reported the gunshots and when police arrived, they found the two boys. the older boy died on the scene. the younger boy died on the way to the hospital. police believe two suspects could be involved in the shooting. this is based on surveillance video from a nearby home. in january a $10,000 reward was offered for information in the case. union city police say they have spent countless hours and resources on this investigation hope doing what they say will bring justice to the families and closure to the community. this press conference will be held at 10:30. reporting live, anser hassan, abc7 news. >> thank you very much. a new development in an attack on a b.a.r.t. passenger by a stranger.

the a suspect is in custody this morning. oakland chp detained the man yesterday for an unrelated crime. they determined he was the person in surveillance images released earlier by b.a.r.t. police. the attack happened tuesday evening as the train approached the lake merritt station. the suspect punched a man in the face and hit him with a chain. the victim was treated at the hospital for nonlife threatening injuries. developing safe efficient mass transit is a key part of building a better bay area, today b.a.r.t. directors will hold a second day of meetings to discuss the problems facing the transit agency. one of the biggest ones is a drop in night and weekend ridership. competition with rideshare companies like uber and lyft is one contributing factor but a b.a.r.t. survey of riders found many people are not going out as much on weekends and they didn't like the long wait between trains. b.a.r.t. is exploring ways to get those riders back. >> one thing we've been doing is handing out free passes for the weekend. people are using it. it doesn't cost us that much because a lot of the people are

bringing friends who are paying. >> b.a.r.t. already gives out 500,000 free weekend tickets a year, one proposal is to double that number to 1 million. tell us what you think about b.a.r.t., what your experiences are, use #dearbart with your stories on twitter and facebook. new developments in a hit and run crash in the mission district. police have arrested the driver. 62-year-old stefan kernan is charged with hit and run and running a red light. three pedestrians were hurt in wednesday afternoon's crash at 23rd and mission streets. two of them are still in critical condition. police say that dui is not a factor in the crash. four people arrested in the west oakland moms for housing eviction in january will not face charges. this is according to the alameda district county attorney's office. the four were taken into custody by sheriffs deputies during the eviction. a lawyer for the four told the east bay times the d.a. did not want to make this a big

coronavirus outbreak. there's been a staggering rise in the number of cases reported. there are now more than 64,000 cases around the world. china is reporting 121 new deaths. that puts the global death toll at more than 1,300. flower sellers in china say they're taking a big hit from the outbreak as people are staying home. sales are down up to 95% for valentine's day. the u.s. has a 15th coronavirus case. it involves a person who was evacuated from wuhan and quarantined in texas. cases of coronavirus spiked in the last two days because of a new way doctors are testing patients for the disease in china. trained doctors there are diagnosing coronavirus cases through chest imaging instead of lab work. that change should get care to patients faster as well as speed up the reporting of infections. we've had a dry start to the year and some people are beginning to talkut dro

a bit of snow. a couple inches possible sunday. that's it. bone dry but cooler next week. a court is ordering apple to pay up. two workers sued the company claiming managers at stores in l.a. and new york would check employees bags after their shift to prevent theft. sometimes waiting up to 30 minutes. the california supreme court ordered apple to pay the workers for the extra time. a new report reveals that law enforcement is misusing data collected from automated license plate readers. a review of four agencies by the state auditor's office found millions of license plate images were shared with hundreds of agencies across the country. the marin county sheriff's office was part of the review. there's no indication if the sharing was legal or protected driver's privacy.
