starting next week, we are dedicating our building a better bay area coverage to b.a.r.t. see what has changed. coverage begins on monday. it has been a bear of a day for residents in a los angeles suburb. pun intended. news crews were following every move of a large black bear wandering around the streets in monrov monrovia. look at those dogs holding their ground. of course, they are behind the big gate there. and then bear is strolling up. all right. everybody is getting along. the bear seemed under fazed by the residents. look at the news crews who are dangerously close. if he gets angry, they are lunch. animal control officers finally contained him in the back of a home and they tranquillized him and he's doing okay. >> goodness. i home it is okay.

the rancho san antonio pre serve opened this morning. a mountain lion was found and euthanized. warning signs have been put up throughout the park. >> heidi the dog proved she israel m really is man's best friend. she treaded water 11 hours after her owner's boat sank off the coast of australia shelf eventually caught the attention of a fisherman prompting a full scale search for her owner. thankfully he was found drifting and reunited. >> she treaded water for 11 hours. she must have been owned by michael phelps. >> i'm not sure michael phelps could tread water 11 hours. that's a long time. go try it for a minute or two. >> well, no water will be falling around here. i feel like all this week has been a tease.

we talk about this slight chance. it is even slighter now as the system that might have run it is approaching us. here's a long at lye doppler 7. some little patches of moisture. it is certainly not hitting the ground in the bay area. this is a view of dry but pleasant conditions looking over san francisco. it is 69 degrees in the city right now. very mild, pleasant. 79 degrees at oakland. 66 in san jose and gilroy. 63 at half moon bay. we're looking southward from mt. tam. you can see the increasing clouds in the sornl sky. that system that we've been talking about all week is coming from our south. we'll see increasingly cloudy skies especially in the south bay. 74 right now. petalu petaluma, 69. concord, 71, 68 in livermore.

you see the clouds getting a little thicker in the southern sky. these are our forecast features. there could be isolated sprinkles early tomorrow morning. mainly south bay and then farther south toward monterey bay. even toward san benito county. breezy and cooler. on sunday. and then sunny, mild and dry virtually all of next week. you know how dry it's been. the last soaking rain was january 16th. the last measurable rain was around the 28th or so. 21 days into the month and it has been dry, dry, dry. no rainfall at all. it doesn't look like we'll get much from this system. increasing clouds. if you see any paxes of green popping up, that is where we expect rain to fall. you can see a patch of rain

around 9:30 this morning but that's as the system is weakening which means little to no chance of rainfall falling in the immediate san francisco bay area. so the projection for rainfall totals tomorrow afternoon, zero in the immediate bay area. mid to upper 40s, tomorrow's highs will change from upper 50s at the coast. breezy, low 60s mainly around the bayshore. as we look ahead to sunday, even cooler in some spots. then monday, temperatures bounce back vigorously. by tuesday, we'll be looking at some upper 70s to near 80 in our inland areas. here's the seven-day forecast. so we can skip the weekend. dry and very mild spring-like week coming our way with high temperatures well into the 70s

we are learning the details of the gender discrimination lawsuit with the women's soccer team. the players are seeking more than $66 million in damages against the u.s. soccer federation. the team filed suit last year alleging unequal pay and treatment. federation officials say the women are paid differently because their negotiated contract is different than the men. a trial is scheduled to start may 5th. five republican attorneys general are seeking to block an effort for the equal rights amendment in the constitution. the states are trying to redescribed their state's prior approval of the amendment. it comes a month after virginia game 38th state to ratify the measure. however, the federal government is refusing to certify the adoption of the e.r.a., claiming

abc7 news is continuing our black history month. we're talking about the aviators. many have heard of the tuskegee aviators but there are many others. here's jobina fortson with more. >> reporter: we may have our eyes set on the future of aviation. these students are performing stars, a nonprofit helping underserved kids in marin county achieve their potential. they just learned about the tuskegee airmen who fought in world war ii becoming the first black pilots in the u.s. military. now, are face to face with toay's pilots. >> i've seen every coast in this world. >> reporter: aviation professionals. >> how many blank an air traffic
