carol and ian were found after being missing for more than a week. >> those rescuers are speaking out tonight. and cornell bernard joins us live with new details. cornell? >> reporter: yeah, we can tell that you that couple is recovering here at marin general hospital. we're told they are in good spirits. they met some of the rescuers who saved them yesterday to say thanks. some of then took us back to that amazing moment they were found. >> i had to say several times, everyone seemed surprised. they're alive. we found them. >> reporter: againsty webster from the search and rescue team was the first to find the couple from palo alto missing in the point reyes wilderness for more than a week. >> we get them. we look at them and we're like, what are your names, carol and ian, we're amazed. they seemed like they just got lost yesterday.

>> 77-year-old carol kiparsky and her husband ian irwin were located sever hundred yards from the nearest road. >> they spent the next four days crawling through that brush. i understand from ian, he would stand up and fall into the brush to compress it. >> the avid hikers said they set out on a walk on valentine's day from inverness but got lost when the sun went down. >> reason they were probably alive was they were drinking from a that you had people they found near where they were located, it was a puddle. >> reporter: they were still able to give thumbs up at the hospital where we're being treated but told rescuers, they had almost given up hope. >> they were overjoyed that we found them and they didn't think they would be found. >> reporter: friends and neighbors in palo alto have decorated their home and have planned a big party for when they get back. >> we were planning a memorial. this party i'm going on throw, a

laura martinez joins us now with what happened last night. >> reporter: you can still see the skid marks and tire fragments in this intersection off 30th and geary. neighbors said what happened last night was very unusual. neighbors here heard it around 3:00 this morning and said it happened about 40 minutes. this is video of where the area looked like last night. this intersection was only one of four shows that happened overnight. san francisco police say they got a tip around 12:30 that cars were coming into the city for side shows. police say each show brought in about 50 to 100 cars. the other locations include 23rd and delores, market and clayton streets, loopis and barnville avenue. no citations were made no, arrests and no injuries ro reported. now neighbors in this neighborhood tell me when police responded, they say they couldn't really do anything about it. police did release a statement today saying that these side

request for information but we do know this. yesterday, three men were wounded in a shooting about an hour apart. two while sitting in a car in east oakland and a third in the uptown area. in the south bay, one person is dead and another critically injured after being hit by a car near downtown sandal jose. police say man and a wroman wer hit while walking in the crosswalk. the woman later died. the man has life threatening injuries and remains in the hospital. the driver of the car stayed at the scene and is talking on investigators. drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. developing news in oakland, so far, tests done yesterday show no signs of a cancer causing chemical in the air at mcclymonds high school. experts are conducting more tests with syringe like devices. officials closed the school last week after tce was found at the ground water beneath the campus.
