it happened at the intersection of manter road yesterday. julian glover is live with the very latest. >> reporter: just a heartbreaking and tragic story. when you hear the girl and her sister were doing the right thing, they were in the cross walk waiting for the signal, and that is when chp says a driver hit that 12-year-old girl, looked back and just kept going. you showed the picture of that ford f-150 pickup truck police are looking for. i want everyone to take a look at it. it's this black f-150 chp is looking for. seconds before the crash at crow canyon and manter road. >> it's terrible. you should have the right for your children to walk.

them. new developments, the feds are ordering the biggest reservoir in santa clara county be drained by october 1st because of earthquake risk. the anderson reservoir sits between morgan hill and san jose east of highway 101. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo has the details. >> reporter: delay after delay, now the risk is unacceptably high. >> i never saw any work done. >> reporter: the cost at $500 million. much of the money will come from increased water rates. the fear a powerful earthquake could damage the dam and send a wall of water into surrounding communities. some are concerned about how the project will affect wildlife. >> i know it won't be forever. i know it will be for a little while until they remedy the

hour. injuries have been reported. the backup extends about three miles right now. looking live in the south bay here, san jose, 101, smooth traffic in that area and also very clear in san rafael. a live look at 101. moving over now because we do have some drive times i want to get to quickly -- just kidding. i will do my computer alert. express lane construction san mateo 01 still in effect right now. we will have lane closures between 380 and south san francisco and whipple avenue in redwood city. reggie and kumasi? new overnight san francisco police arrested two suspects accused of running over two people in haight-ashbury. >> back to jobina tracking this at the live desk. and that's not all. san francisco police tells us this morning the pair rammed into a police cruiser in twin peaks around 9:30 last night. the suspects were yelling at homeless people in the haight. then they drove onto the sidewalk, hit two people, drove off and hit a building.

two people hit are expected to be okay. about ten minutes later officers responded to reports of shots fired in the twin peaks area on crown terrace. >> they spotted a car coming at them at a high rate of speed. the car accelerated and made contact and actually struck the front of their patrol car. >> the two suspects tried to run away, but officers caught up with them. the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. police have not released any other information about the suspects. none of the officers involved were hurt. kumasi? >> thank you, jobina. new this morning a wild police chase, check this out. it started when vallejo police went after a car they believed was involved in a shooting. wow. chp took over when the chase hit interstate 80. the car went south on 880, then into oakland, back on the freeway, and across the bay bridge. look at this video. this is when the chase ended

around 3:00 this morning and the car crashed into the median in san francisco's south of market neighborhood. police then arrested the driver. president trump is requesting $2.5 billion in emergency funds from congress to combat the global spread of coronavirus. it topped more than 80,000 cases worldwide. its impact is taking hold across the world. the dow plunged more than 1,000 points yesterday, its worst day in two years. cases are rising from south korea to europe and the middle east and abc news reporter james longman is in italy. >> reporter: this is the police line. beyond here the 12 towns on lockdown. on google maps you can see every way in is shut down. >> here in the u.s. the number of cases has risen to 53. officials from cdc, homeland security and the state department are heading to give a

report to congress. students are heading back to class this morning. they're going to be at three other schools. ninth graders will be going to ralph bunche academy, 10th and 11th graders will be going to west oakland middle school and 12th graders to westlake. mcclymonds has been closed since thursday. testing is under way to determine if a cancer causing chemical is inside the school after it was found in groundwater near campus. preliminary tests on saturday showed no signs of the chemical. the final results are expected at the end of the week. >> oakland's former police chief is firing back at the city this morning days after she was fired by the city's police commission. anne kirkpatrick sat down with us and says she will ask the u.s. department of justice to investigate. she is considering legal action. the basis may be alleged retaliation because she would

amy? >> reporter: hi, good morning, reggie. i've just arrived to pleasant hill. i started in antioch, just got here. it was a pleasant ride. it was quiet. it was on time, it was clean. i was struck by how many people were already out and on the trains this early in the morning. it was 4:4 and this was the connector train. watch as they have to move and get on to a regular b.a.r.t. train in pittsburg. they have to transfer and they hustle to get a seat. i asked one passenger who has been riding for eight years to give b.a.r.t. a grade for this past year since the last time we he gave it a "c." he had a seat, it was clean, it was on time but he says he still has issues. >> the homeless issue and probably the crowds. sometimes i think they could

have more trains. they always have train holdups because something happens due to police activity, so that is probably one of the reasons why. >> reporter: standing room only at 5:00 a.m. people who boarded in concord, you could net get a seat at least on the car i was on. you have to be early and down the line to get a seat in the mornings. the other thing i noticed talking to marvin, he says he does not take b.a.r.t. to work on the weekends. he drives. b.a.r.t. said ridership is down on the weekends. i asked him why. he said there's not as much traffic on the roads so it's fine to drive and he would rather drive, to avoid all the people on b.a.r.t., the krudz and the homeless and the mentally unstable. he would just rather be in his car, he says. i'm going to get on another train and see what i see.
