right now at 6:00, a deadly hit-and-run in the east bay. a 12-year-old girl killed. now police are hoping somebod recognizes this truck suspected of taking off after the crash. our team is on trains across the bay area right now and we're tracking the progress on social media. good morning on this tuesday, february 25th. >> a lot going on. checking in with mike for a look at our forecast. good morning, mike. bone-dry. abundant sunshine, as much as we can squeeze in. a few of us are in the 50s. look what happens at noon. we're already about 20 degrees warmer in the mid to upper 60s and by 4:00 we're in the mid to upper 70s away from the coast

where the 60s remain and still in the 60s at 7:00. here is jobina. how is the commute? we have positive news for people traveling through dublin. this four-car crash that's been blocking three lanes on westbound 580 before hopyard the chp is telling us they should be opening up all those lanes in about five minutes. you can see the backup here more than four miles. a live look in san francisco, 280 at king street and then moving over now to a live look where things are beginning to fill in. reggie and kumasi? developing news in the east bay, police searching for the person who right and killed a 12-year-old girl crossing the street. >> it happened at manter and crow canyon road yesterday. police are looking for the truck you see on your screen there. julian glover is live with more this morning.

julian? >> reporter: traffic has picked back up here off crow canyon road this morning and i can only imagine how busy it was yesterday afternoon when the 12-year-old girl and her sister were walking across the street in this crosswalk when she was hit by this driver in this ford f-150 pickup truck here at crow canyon road. right to the picture you have shown. this black ford f-150 truck is what the chp is after this morning and the driver behind it they believe is the person responsible for this preteen's death. this image was captured by a neighbor's surveillance camera seconds before the crash happened at canyon -- crow canyon road and manter road. >> it's terrible. i mean, you should have the right for your children to be able to walk. >> they did everything right. they waited for the cross walk signal. they started crossing the road

when they were allowed to and just the individual made a few bad choices which severely impacted a lot of lives tonight. >> reporter: so many lives affected. again, chp hoping the driver makes a good decision this morning turning himself in. you are looking at the ford f-150 pickup truck that the chp is searching for based on initial surveillance and interviews it sounds as if the driver is a 25-year-old man. if you know where he might be or that truck is, again, if you need another look at it, the picture is on our website. chp wants to hear from you this morning. reporting live, julian glover, abc 7 news. >> julian, thank you. demands for action following a racially charged attack in san francisco. police are looking for a person who taunted an older man collecting empty cans.

the video posted on instagram -- it shows a man robbing and assaulting the older asian man. vowing to expand the vision zero plan to combat violence and lobby for more resources to unify communities. >> i truly know that the way to address this type of violence is bringing communities together and making sure that people are educated how to address differences. >> police have not yet called it a hate crime. they're trying to find and identify the victim and witnesses. detectives say their investigation into a shooting that killed five people has gone cold. five other victims were hurt. somebody opened fire. "the chronicle" reports sheriff's deputies say some witnesses changed their stories, others refused to cooperate.

on the peninsula, look at this, a home in san bruno got a visit from a mountain lion. this is near rolling wood drive, by the way. right over, no problem at all. police say it's a reminder to all of to us keep your pets inside because mountain lions tend to be most active at dawn, dusk and at night.

federal officials ordering the south bay's biggest reservoir to be drained by october 1st because of fear of what might happen if an earthquake strikes. the anderson reservoir sits between morgan hill and san jose just east of highway 101. it could increase water rates. draining the reservoir will leave them with no way to control water downstream into coyote creek and that has sparked worries. >> it affected a lot of people. i saw lots of flooding in the streets. >> they are pushing a bill that would speed up permits for the project. tsa employees are banned from using tiktok on the job. it's a risk given the chinese

ownership. chuck schumer is accusing the tsa of still posting on the platform though the pentagon and homeland security have banned its use. schumer believes it gives too much security information away. the tsa tells abc news it has no official account. the agency says employees have been posting from their individual phones but the practice has been discontinued. >> when, when we're going through the check? >> i don't know -- i don't want anybody filming me to be doing a tiktok when we need to be looking at the x-way machine. what is this world? mike? >> the tsa was doing that? >> allegedly. >> yeah, employees. >> can we do the shake my head emoji on that one. or -- the winds in the east bay hills, faster up in the hills helping to scour out any chance of fog this morning which was

pretty much none anyway. total sunshine and increases with that offshore breeze, the warming we felt. clear again tonight, slightly milder tomorrow morning and through the next several days we have a chance of record high temperatures and that one computer model saying we still have a chance for wet weather sunday, that one computer forecast model. livermore, concord, santa rosa the best chance of record highs. even 80 in santa rosa. some of the cooler spots around our bay, 66 at half moon bay the coolest spot along the coast. a look at tonight's temperatures from 40 in fairfield to 49 in san francisco. now as we head throughout the weekend, an onshore breeze saturday. increasing clouds and cooler weather. sunday morning, your one chance of wet weather that goes away rather quickly by sunday afternoon and evening. what will happen for sure sunday temperatures will be closer to average. it's a one-day thing.

the 70s are back and so is jobina. good morning. good news for everyone moving through dublin, the crash we've been following has officially cleared. it was involving four cars blocking three lanes. there were injuries involved. this is westbound 580 before hopyard. you will experience a slowdown and a backup. speeds are still down to about 22, 13, but then it picks up around 30 miles an hour once you move through the area where the crash was. people are making their way south. expect some delays in the area but no crashes. looking good, a slight slowdown for highway 85 to the san jose airport, about a 22-minute ride. good morning gong coming up at 7:00 here on abc 7. >> ginger zee is live with a look at what's ahead. good morning, ginger. good morning. great to be with you both this morning. coming up live outside bellevue

expedia is slashing 3,000 jobs, nearly 12% of its workforce n. a letter to employees yesterday company leadership said they are trying to streamline and focus the business. the move comes months after expedia's board fired its ceo. drama in silicon valley this morning. palo alto-based hp says it will buy back $15 billion in stock to stop a hostile takeover by xerox. xerox is preparing to offer $24 for their stock about $2 more than hp stock is trading for this morning. they are asking not to sell to xerox. amazon will open its first ever actual grocery store. amazon's latest venture will resemble a larger version of its amazon go stores like the one that you see here. it will feature more items like shoppers would find at an amazon-owned whole foods store. amazon says it will feature low

what witnesses say happened before the crime spree began. the dow plummets losing more than 1,000 points yesterday. what will happen when the markets open today. plus kumasi's one-on-one with oprah. oprah's tour, her vision for 2020 and bringing people from all walks of life together. >> that's the joy for me to being able to connect people that way. 6:30 this morning and we are taking a live look at the new york stock exchange. the opening bell just rang following that sell-off. it fell more than 1,000 points at the close of trading. >> all of our fears of a global economic slowdown because of the coronavirus outbreak. overnight, though, we saw some hints there could be a republic today. futures up more than 100 points. we'll keep tracking this and will bring you an update in a few minutes.

a live look in emeryville. metering lights came on at 5:18 this morning. moving over to the south bay, san jose. 280 and traffic very light at the moment. a antioch to hercules. reggie and kumasi? new overnight, san francisco police arrested two suspects accused of running over two people in haight-ashbury. >> right back to jobina who is tracking this. and that's not all. san francisco police tell us this morning the pair also rammed their car into a police cruiser in twin peaks. officers say the suspects were yelling at homeless people in the haight and drove on to the sidewalk, hit two people, drove off and hit a building. the people that were hit are expected to be okay. about ten minutes later officers

responded to shots fired on crown terrace. >> they spot add car coming towards them at a high rate of speed. the car ak sem rated and made contact and struck the front of the patrol car. >> officers did catch up with them. the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. no information has been released an none of the officers were hurt, thankfully. kumasi? new this morning a really wild police chase across the bay area. this all started when vallejo police went after a car they believed was involved in a shooting. chp took over the chase and then the car went south on 880, then into observing, back on the freeway and across the bay bridge. a lot going on this morning. this is how it all ended. vallejo police then arrested the

driver. students in mcclymonds are heading back to class but won'ting at their own campus. mcclymonds has been closed since thursday. testing is under way to determine if a cancer causing chemical is inside the school after it was found in groundwater near campus. tests showed no sign of the chemical called tce. the final results are expected to come out at the end of the week. >> abc 7 news is devoting a week to covering b.r.t. as part of our commitment to building a better bay area. we are riding the trains all day long. our mission is to talk to riders, to hear their concerns and frustrations with the system. amy hollyfield has been tweeting all morning long giving us minute by minute updates as she makes her way around the east bay and is live right now. how are you doing, amy?

>> reporter: well, i've learned that it pays to get up early, reggie. people have done the math on that and they're willing to get up, to have a good ride. take a look at my video at 5:00 a.m. heading to san francisco. it is already standing room only. and i talked to a passengers who told me he gets to work an hour and a half early so he can have a pleasant ride on b.a.r.t. he wants a parking spot. he doesn't want a crowded train. another passenger i talked to told me she has seen improvements on b.a.r.t. in the last year. >> i have noticed a lot more police activity which makes me feel better. >> reporter: activity as in officers? >> yes, riding up and down b.a.r.t. because they can be there to help take away the people causing a disturbance on the train. now i'm commuting in normal hours. after a certain point there's

more space for me to sit down. >> reporter: i came to the walnut creek station to see the new parking structure and see how it's working and i saw that it has plenty of spots available. then i figured out why. it costs $18 a day to park here. it's a city owned garage. people are choosing the b.a.r.t. garage next to it which is only $3 a day. i did not know that. i was hoping to come here and find some good parking news and i suppose later in the morning when this b.a.r.t. lot is full and the city lot has spots available maybe $18 sounds okay, i don't know. would you spend $18 a day to park at b.a.r.t. knowing there's a $3 a day garage right next door? that's six times the cost. i was surprised by that one. >> the whole idea unaffordable. i'm going to give that a

walks of life together under one roof in her 2020 vision tour. first, we are checking on weather and traffic with mike. here is a look at what's going on with your school day forecast. temperatures, you'll need a jacket this morning, 40s to near 50. look at that. low to mid-60s. 62 to 65 by 11:00 and away from the coast we're in the 60s. the rest of us are in the 70s. that is a good run of warm temperatures during the afternoon hours. a look at other neighborhoods and what's going on. we'll start with the peninsula. a lot like yesterday. look at 58 in daly city. pacifica 55. it just changed right there. san rafael, 58. 46 and a clear commute this morning. there's no fog, to real breeze at the lower elevations. at 7:00 we're already at 70 and 11:00.

developing news, castro valley police in the east bay want to find the driver responsible for a hit-and-run collision. it killed a 12-year-old girl. this is the photo of the truck they want you to see. they hope this will lead them to the person behind the wheel. julian glover is live with the latest. >> reporter: tragic and heartbreaking steer here. she went to the crosswalk, pushed the signal sign, was in the crosswalk when she was hit by the driver. again, 12 years old. i want you to stop what you're doing if you can and take a look at your screen. this is another picture of the vehicle police are trying to track down, this ford f-150

them a call so they can bring the driver to justice this morning. julian glover, abc 7 news. julian, thank you. happening today, santa rosa leaders will vote on which legal team it wants to represent the city's claims against pg&e for the disastrous kincade fire. santa rosa is hoping to recover hundreds of thousands of dollars lost in defending the city last year. the night the fire started pg&e cut fire for much of the region but deactivated high voltage lines near the fire's origin. the official cal fire investigation is ongoing. >> oprah is gearing up for the next stop of her 2020 vision tour. i am still thinking of her last stop in san francisco. i had the chance to interview her about the tour, bringing people together and how you can create the future that you want. here is more of the exclusiven't view you'll only see on abc 7 news. ♪ kumasi kumasi ♪

otherwise i would stay at home under my trees. my word this year, and i believe everybody needs to figure out what their word is and that's why i love the group does the same thing, outdoor afro, my word is purposeful. i don't do anything unless i believe it's going to have some purpose or some meaning, not just for myself but for also other people. so i know, i know, you can't be in this room and over 12 and not have had some struggles. i don't know yours but i know you've had them. sometimes what holds us back is holding on to the past. >> oprah says it's about the future and the vision we create for it. >> setting a vision for who you want to be not just what you want to do. who do you want to be in the world and what do you want that being space to look like and to feel like. you need to define for yourself
