bullets flew inside this home in fremont. one grazed a mother, causing her to drop two-week-old baby. father, adam, says the suspects were after him. >> there to kill me. >> reporter: three people showed up. started shooting. results of what he called private family dispute. wouldn't elaborate. fired back with hand gun. >> thank god for the second amendment, without being armed probably wouldn't be there. >> we locked the doors. got scared. don't know if someone is running around armed and i have kids. >> reporter: suspects got away, leaving law enforcement to canvas the neighborhood. >> cops with big guns, shocking home. >> reporter: not a random attack. >> just happy i came out with my

you can always go to abc7news.com for the latest. our effort to build a better bay area this week is focused on b.a.r.t. nearly one year ago alerted to fare evaders using emergency exits at san leandro station. we went back to see what changed. >> b.a.r.t. estimates loses dollars a year. will be more secure but fare evaders are still getting by. there is no emergency at san leandro station this day but the emergency exits are swinging wide open as customer after customer after customer leaves without paying. nearly one year ago abc7 news brought the issue to b.a.r.t.'s attention. this is what it looked like

then. spokesperson said would be hardened by end of the fiscal year, june 2020. changing infrastructure. we showed him what it looks like now. >> it's frustrating for me to watch it, for anyone who abides by the rules. >> reporter: why has it not changed? >> we've started the station hardening. it's harder to push open the barriers of the fare gates. additional work is raise the barriers to five feet and have the swing gates locked unless opened by official or in emergency. that's going to be done by june. >> reporter: said will also alarm the emergency exits. other stations have the alarms. not san leandro. why in a year couldn't it be done? year of lost revenue. >> the crew that does it have
