panic. the covid-19 virus seems to spread very easily, and the number of cases is growing on every continent but antarctica. the mortality rate for those infected is roughly 2%, maybe less. by comparison, sars, which broke out in 2002 was roughly 10%. that's the good news. the bad news, this virus appears to spread much more easily than sars and perhaps before symptoms even develop in a person making it an especially tough public health challenge. which means the coronavirus is expected to continue to spread and, as it does, the stock market is likely to remain quite volatile. what really matters is that all of us make no rash decisions about investments and that we each do all we can reasonably to prevent infection. we have a lot of information about the coronavirus on our website. just go there and you'll see all kinds of information about the spread of the virus, what you can do to protect yourself, all of our reporting is on there. in the meantime, i always love to hear from you.
