now, from abc 7, live with breaking news. >> you can see flames and smoke shooting into the air earlier, and on your right is what the scene looks like from above now, those blue beams of light are where firefighters are working. this is an industrial area near 280. we're live there now. >> reporter: you can see the big flames are out but the fire is still not fully contained. the lieutenant says they do have a good handle on the situation. you can see crews are still on scene. this is the corner of evans avenue, and this fire

this is a facility that caught fire and collapsed, and it's near the restaurant. this is a four-alarm fire, and over 100 firefighters on scene. the lieutenant baxter said it's unusual to have a fire like that in san francisco, and they had a lot of issues to deal with as well, strong winds being one of the issues, and another is power lines that went down. there are cars inside the storage facility that caught fire. firefighters still don't know what caused the fire. here's what the lieutenant had priorities will be determining the cause and origin of this fire, and that investigation could take weeks. >> reporter: now we know that the mayor is here on scene but not talking to media. this is a commercial area.

worldwide there are now 87,000 cases. we begin our coverage tonight with abc7 news reporter joining us live from san jose and tells us people have been scrambling to get supplies tonight. >> reporter: eric, you know people scramble to get water and things like paper towels and rice. the santa clara county health department released a statement today saying they expect to see more races of covid-19, and the residents are taking this news seriously and are preparing. >> everybody is stocking up on toilet paper, paper towels and water. we ran out of water. >> reporter: the doors opened to a massive crowd of 850 people. >> this is double at christmastime. >> reporter: eric and his son are part of the shoppers stocking up on food that can

a san mateo man was today, police say he hit four teens on the sidewalk before speeding away. four of the victims -- rather two of the victims had major injuries and all four were from san mateo, and the is faces hit-and-run joe biden took a divisive victory. it's his first win as a presidential candidate. senator bernie sanders came in a distant second and despite coming in third billionaire tom steyer dropped out of theacet.

here's the satellite image, and we saw clouds coming in from the northwest bringing in cooler temperatures today. gust up to 22 miles per hour in san francisco. the cold front that is moving through brought temperatures to near 60 degrees today. well down from yesterday's highs. the winds will pick up and will notice tomorrow. here's a live look, you can see the cameras bouncing around from the winds and temperatures are on the cool side. in san francisco it's currently 49. if you are headed out you will need a jacket as well as tomorrow morning. 4n jose, 50 degrees, and gilroy you see san francisco there, and a lot of folks headed out and ther traffic on the bay bridge. concord, still hanging on to 50 degrees. the winds are going to pick up. in fact there's a wind advisory

per day, with a 3-day 1-park per day ticket. now from abc7, live breaking news. >> we are staying on top of the breaking news in san francisco tonight where a large and explosive fire broke out at a storage facility in the bay view. we're live at the scene with the latest. >> reporter: eric, good evening. the fire is still not contained but firefighters say they have a better handle of the situation. if you look behind me, you can see fire scene. the lieutenant jonathan baxter with the san francisco fire department said it's a storage facility that caught fire and collapsed. next to it was the iconic bonaza restaurant that also caught

patient that was ill. today the mountain view costco sold out of water and clorox wipes. and chinese-american leaders say they are seeing an increase in xenophobia. today hundreds denounced the bigotry at a rally, and stores are seeing a drop in business there. in palo alto two students were sent home from school after district officials learned they might have been exposed to the coronavirus. >> cleaning crews wearing protective gear were disinfecting doorknobs and water fountains and cleaning was also happening aic officials learn friday a parent of two students was possibly exposed to coronavirus. on the district's website the superintendent said as a precautionary measure the
