i'm tom steyer, and i approve this message. now, news to build a better bay area from abc 7. tonight new cases of coronavirus in the bay area. three confirmed and two presumptive positive cases. good evening. i'm eric thomas. here's what we know about the new santa clairau county cases. one is a woman with chronic health conditions. they've just begun their investigation into how she contracted the virus. the other two cases are a husband and wife that recently travelled to egypt. however, egypt's health ministry says there have only been two cases in the country and one has already recovered. there are seven total cases in santa clara county. meantime, in salono county

two health care workers testing positive. they were exposed to the patient with the virus. one of the workers lives in alameda county. lauren martinez joins us live with the very latest details. lauren. >> reporter: eric, those two health care workers tested positive at the state level. the cdc still needs to confirm those results. they're isolating themselves at home right now. meanwhile, people being quarantined here get to go home tomorrow. >> two health care workers -- >> reporter: both are health care workers. one in saw llano county, the other in alameda county. >> they will remain isolated until they recover completely from their illness. >> reporter: health care workers must wear protective gear

regardless if the patient has trav travelled or not. >> the health care workers i think recognize this is part of their job. if you look at what kind of symptoms it causes, it's very similar to what we see with influenza. >> and those currently under quarantine get to go ome on monday. they were passengers of the diamond princess cruise ship that had hundreds of cases of the coronavirus on board. these two were passengers on the ship. unfortunately rick and his wife were sent to quarantine at a military base in san antonio, texas, not travis. and to make matters wursz, aldena slipped and broke her wrist last week. but despite having to fly home this week, rick's in high spirits. >> we're exuberant.

they're racing to contain an outbreak in the same area. researchers now believe it's been infecting people in washington state for weeks. the cdc is sending a team to help local officials. tonight new york state is also reporting its first case. she travelled to iran and is self-quarantined in her manhattan home. and florida's governor declared presumptive positive cases there. there are confirmed or presumptive cases in six more states, including rhode island. a man in his 40s hospitalize there had, just back from his trip to italy including italy, france and spain. the trump administration implementing the highest travel advisory to regions of italy and south korea. >> and we've coordinated the state department to coordinate a medical screening in their

that's not divisiveness. that's standing together to fight the change. >> reporter: what will you do to reach out to more moderate democrats who are still a little uncertain about democratic socialism to bring them into your campaign? >> i think all of the democratic presidential candidates will be united in making sure we do everything humanly possible, humanly possible to defeat donald trump. and i think the overwhelming majority of the democrats, whether you're conservative, progressive, moderate, we're going to come together. >> reporter: at his rally he went after joe bidon for his iraq war vote and told us his enthusiasm is what gives him the edge. >> the real challenge is how do we create that large turnout we need to defeat trump? and i think our campaign is uniquely qualified to do that. >> reporter: we asked about nancy pelosi's house seat.

live where you live, this is abc 7 news. good evening. i'm eric thomas. in the headlines three new confirmed cases of coronavirus in santa clara county tonight. one patient is a woman with chronic health conditions. and so far there are seven total cases in santa clara county. meantime in salonee county they're reporting two health care workers tested presumed positive for the virus. they were exposed at north bay vacavalley hospital. and two deaths have been confirmed in the u.s. health officials in washington state say a second person died from the infection. they believe it may have been circulating for weeks undetected.

we have more on coronavirus at our website, abc 7 news.com. a second suspect has been arrested after disturbing video of an attack in san francisco went viral. it show as senior citizen collecting cans, being harassed, assaulted and robbed. today jonathan amerson surrendered to police and faces two counts of robbery and elder abuse. he reportedly robbed the same vilktm two months ago. and dwayne grayson was arrested at his hoim. san francisco firefighters kept putting water on a charred debris. they saw the flame and explosions from several mimes away. high winds made it difficult to battle it. the fire destroyed a rest rauntd, and an apartment where two people lived.

arson investigators continue to look for what sparked the fire. and a class action lawsuit against class act. and they've received a flood of responses. many want to know how to join the class action suit. >> reporter: suit began after golden gate bridge switched to all electronic tolling. they're supposed to get tole invoices in the mail. they say thousands never got their invoices, often due to address mistakes. the suit says fast track didn't try to find the motorist but simply piled on penalties. >> they shredded the return mail and imposed pen tailier to pay. >> reporter: they say they've improved the cyst foreman handling tolls and disputes but they want to keep their policy

as secret from all of us, saying the public could use the information to, quote, gain the system, and avide paying toles. hundreds of viewers have told their stories saying fasttrack unfairly charged them with toll penalties too and they feel helpless to dispute them. sharon writes how do people join the class action suit? as it turns out you don't have to. you are already in it. that is if you fit the definition of this class. so, how do you know? you are in the class if you crossed the golden gate bridge since 2013 and received a toll penalty. the suit says you are entitled, at least, to a hearing. and the suit asks for a full refund if your toll invoice got thrown away by fasttrack. the suit does not cover drivers

for school repairs. they've released videos to help voters understand. here's explaining how prop 15 would work. >> reporter: in 2016 president trump wins the white house, california voters legalize recreational marijuana and approve a bond for modernizing schools. now schools say they need more. enter prop 13. 9 billion for k-12 schools with priorities to schools with mold, asbestos and led in drinking water and 40% split evenly among cal state colleges. it would let school districts put larger bonds on local ballots, help schools affected by disasters such as fire and make it easier for smaller and poorer districts to compete for bond funds.

you can see lively doppler 7 not showing a trace of a cloud or drop in the air. mainly in the mid to upper 40s. breezy but no fog in sight and without the fog in the morning and plenty of sunshine and a slight off shore flow, temperatures are going to warm up by as much as 10 degrees compared to today. 72 in oakland, 70 in san jose. and the next few days, we're going to warm up well above average before temperatures tumble for next weekend and still windy tomorrow morning but the warm up starts with plenty of sunshine through spring. a chance of rain on saturday and then don't forget to turn your clocks forward an hour. leave that hour of sleep into sunday. i always hate that part. >> oh, i love it.
