>> good morning, robin. this was just a remarkable upset that just a week ago no one saw coming. joe biden last night was propelled by african-american voters and a wave of establishment support from the democratic party and this morning joe biden is back from the brink and this race has a new front-runner. >> they don't call it super tuesday for nothing. >> reporter: the night belonged to joe biden. >> for those who have been knocked down and counted out, left behind, this is your campaign. >> reporter: the former vice president with a massive comeback on the biggest night of the primary so far. >> and we were told when we got to super tuesday, it would be over. so i'm here to report, we are very much alive! >> reporter: fueled by key last-minute endorsements from his former opponents and last-minute support from voters who say they made their decision in just the last few days. >> we won minnesota because of amy klobuchar.

>> reporter: biden capturing nine of the 15 contests and gaining over 300 delegates. surprise wins in massachusetts, minnesota and texas where strong support from black voters helped him edge out vermont senator bernie sanders and complete a sweep of the south. this morning, it's now a two-man race. sanders making big gains in california propelled by large portions of the hispanic vote. ♪ revolution >> reporter: also winning utah, colorado and his home state of vermont. >> for tonight i tell you with absolute confidence we are going to win the democratic nomination. >> reporter: and he's already sharpening his attacks against biden. >> one of us in this race led the opposition to the war in iraq. you're looking at him. another candidate voted for the war in iraq.

>> reporter: massachusetts senator elizabeth warren's campaign is struggling after she failed to win a single state, even her own. before results were tallied warren promised to stay in the fight urging voters to ignore the pundits. >> cast a vote from your heart and vote for the person you think will make the best president of the united states of america. >> reporter: former new york city mayor michael bloomberg it was a disappointing night. he went all in on these states pouring over $230 million into super tuesday alone. but coming away with just a few delegates to show for it. the bloomberg camp says it will make an assessment about what comes next, but he's still swinging at the president. >> i know you're not used to seeing a new yorker in southern florida in late winter. but unlike the president, i didn't come here to golf.

>> reporter: now with biden resurgent the trump campaign took quick aim saying biden is, quote, just as terrible a candidate right now as he was a few days ago and accusing democrats of ganging up on sanders to deny him wins. robin? >> okay, mary, good to have you with us in the studio. the biden campaign is riding high in morning after those victories in the south, now in a completely different position than just two weeks ago. eva pilgrim is traveling with the campaign. she's there in los angeles. good morning, eva. >> reporter: good morning, robin. yeah, joe biden outperforming expectations on super tuesday. now turning his attention to next week's states that he thinks play to his strengths. he already has trips planned to missouri and mississippi, and for a candidate who was literally outspent in every single super tuesday state, that war chest is now filling back

up. there was a moment last night that a lot of people are talking about this morning. dr. jill biden protecting her husband by shoving off a dairy protester that was storming the stage. her response, robin, i'm a philly girl. >> and she did seem that way. all right, eva, thank you very much. meanwhile this morning the future of michael bloomberg's campaign is in question after last night's results so let's go to cecilia vega who is in west palm beach, florida, with more on that. good morning, cecilia. >> reporter: hey, robin. good morning to you. the bloomberg team says they plan to reassess that campaign today and tomorrow going forward in the future in the wake of those results last night. i traveled with his campaign all day yesterday and asked michael bloomberg about this pressure on him and his team and whether he planned to drop out. he told me he had no plans to drop out, that he planned to stay in this race to win it but this morning, robin, his team is sending a very different message. they say bloomberg, if he is not the nominee, will support whoever that nominee is and you know he's supported already his own campaign to the tune of more than half a billion dollars but,

robin, right now his campaign chair is saying on twitter the number one priority for him is to defeat donald trump in november. >> okay, cecelia. bernie sanders seeing that big success in california and in his home state, of course, of vermont. martha raddatz is there in burlington with more. good morning, martha. >> reporter: good morning, robin. it was not exactly the ending bernie sanders wanted but he is touting his success with latino voters and, of course, california, tweeting late last night, thank you, california, you showed that americans are ready for a government and economy that works for all of us, not just the 1%. let's go forward together. sanders' campaign is also saying in order to beat donald trump, you need a nominee that is able to harness energy and enthusiasm. he routinely does that on the campaign trail, but he has some very stiff competition in that regard this morning. george? >> okay, martha, thanks very much. let's bring in our chief political analyst, matt dowd and also yvette simpson. your organization has endorsed

bernie sanders. matt, let me begin with you. we've never seen a four-day swing like we have with joe biden coming off south carolina, the sweeping victories in super tuesday last night. the scale of this victory hard to gauge. >> yeah, and we always talk about bill clinton's comeback, the comeback kid in 1992 when he finished second. this so far exceeds that. i was trying to think -- i've never seen a political comeback like this in my life ever. i was trying to think what it is akin to. it's a bit like the boston red sox being down 3-0 because biden lost the first three aces being down one run in the ninth and coming back and beating the new york yankees. we've never seen -- he is not the comeback kid. he's lazarus. >> it's an incredible comeback, yvette, and now it's basically a two-person race, elizabeth warren and michael bloomberg as we come on the air right now still in the race but this is biden and sanders. >> tough night for elizabeth warren. she has never lost a race. her supporters are probably going to need a day to absorb this. but, look, she is about big change so hopefully her supporters, mostly progressive will come on board with the

bernie sanders campaign and give them the momentum they need. we saw a consolidation of support among the mainstream and if we had that support last night we would have saw a lot more wins in places like minnesota and maine and massachusetts where we needed it. >> michael bloomberg always promised to use his fortune not only to get into this primary, but to help defeat president trump in november. interesting to see what he announces coming out of this and whether he will continue to spend money. >> the beatles sang a song "money can't buy me love" and political advertising can't buy you delegates in this. i think that's -- it's going to be fascinating to see what he does and if he gets out and what he does in the process. but i think last night and this past day, two myths have been busted. the first myth is political advertising somehow can overcome everything else. we learned that's not possible because joe biden spent less than anybody else. the second myth we learned which we keep relearning is new hampshire and iowa do not tell us what's going to happen in these political race.

>> that's the thing. once the race is broadened out to look more like the whole of the country, joe biden did better. >> he did, particularly in south carolina where he's benefitting from older african-american voters who tend to be more conservative but in nevada and places like california where you have younger black voters, bernie sanders is winning there. so it will be interesting to see how that spreads across the rest of the country. >> we saw bernie sanders signal it will be a hard-edged finish in the primary. >> absolutely. i think it will be really interesting. bernie sanders benefits from being in the underdog space. so i think he will fight coming out. i think once we get back into the debates and he can attack biden one-on-one you'll see a bernie like you've never seen before. we will see a lot of twists and turns in the race. >> we have to also keep in mind that joe biden had a great night, great series of states but he's been known to have unforced errors in this process. so we have to wait and see what is going to happen in the next week. >> big states next week. thank you both very much. amy? >> all right, george, thank you. we turn to the other big stories this morning, the search is on for those still missing after the tornado outbreak in tennessee that killed at least 24 people and now there are new

warnings across the south. rob marciano is going to have a lot more on that in just a moment. first to victor oquendo in hard hit donelson. good morning, victor. >> reporter: good morning, amy. we are east of nashville. an ef-3 tornado with winds up to 165 miles per hour destroyed everything in sight. at this home just a few walls left standing. you can see a bed and a dresser in place and as you take a look from above, this is all that's left here in this neighborhood. the devastation stretches for at least a mile. a school was also destroyed. >> reporter: devastation across central tennessee. >> people were crying and screaming. i mean we didn't know what was going on. >> reporter: two massive tornados ripping through communities in and around nashville killing at least 24 people. >> the devastation is heartbreaking. >> reporter: violent power flashes lighting up the night sky. the twisters wreaking havoc as people slept, with many still missing. at this airport the storm

tossing these small jets around. homes flattened. the high winds snapping power lines. >> i watched debris fly through the glass windows, one of the garage doors get ripped off. >> never thought that this would happen. it's like a war zone. >> i just seen people scattered everywhere. >> reporter: this woman barely recognizing the plant she works at now turned to rubble. >> so much devastation and i'm sorry, man, it's -- i'm just not used to seeing it like that. >> reporter: residents already beginning to rebuild. despite the desolation, hundreds lined up at the polls overnight to cast their vote for super tuesday. >> because of the tornado, you know, we had to come here and it took a little over two hours but it sure was worth it. >> reporter: in the midst of all the destruction incredible tales of survival. >> i thought about my daughter and i really thought this could be it for me. >> reporter: the storm knocking over this man's tractor trailer with him and his colleague still inside. >> our passenger side window blew out. at that moment we felt the wind really start to hit so we got

down on the floor and our truck and trailer got caught in the tornado and ended up flipping over. >> reporter: incredible tales of bravery. this fire chief saving this 7-year-old boy who was trapped by live wires. >> a pleasure. >> yes. >> reporter: the two reuniting hours later. >> it was pretty scary, though, right? >> yes, sir. >> very proud of you. very brave. when i asked you to hold still, you did. got you over to grandma and everything is good. >> yes, sir. >> reporter: with sunrise the scope of the damage becomes painfully clear and volunteers have been flocking from all over the region to help clean up. this is an improvement from what we saw yesterday. as for little brock who was rescued by the fire chief, he says he now wants to be a firefighter. amy? >> ah, so sweet. victor, thank you. unfortunately, the severe weather threat is not over for the south. there are new tornado watches this morning and rob marciano is also in tennessee tracking the latest for us. good morning, rob. >> good morning, amy. tough day across the entire state including right here in downtown nashville.

this is a popular restaurant and pizza place and popular area of bars and restaurants. this happened shortly after midnight. if people weren't home and asleep, they were likely out in this area and there was a couple walking home from a bar that were killed by flying debris. so dangerous happenings here in tennessee and the dangerous weather continues across the south as amy mentioned. let's show you where that is sprawled out across the gulf coast. already we have several watches up including a tornado watch up for parts of the gulf coast, damaging winds, a few tornadoes and large hail all along i-10. moisture rich environment getting into mobile, tallahassee. could see damaging winds as well and this continues into northern georgia, northern florida and southern georgia tomorrow. robin? >> thinking of all. okay, rob, thank you. we have the latest on the coronavirus emergency. this morning the number of cases worldwide is topping 93,000. meanwhile here in the u.s. there are now at least 108 cases and the death toll has climbed to nine people. whit johnson has the very latest.

>> reporter: this morning a massive effort to disinfect new york's public transportation system following the state's second confirmed patient with coronavirus, a case of suspected community spread. officials calling the man in his 50s a regular commuter who took the train from westchester county to grand central station. the man who had a previous respiratory illness now hospitalized in serious condition. >> we're very concerned because of what appears to be a previous respiratory condition which creates more danger. >> reporter: his family also under quarantine, two schools linked to one of his sons closed and services at his synagogue canceled for the foreseeable future, this as covid-19 continues to spread with more than 100 cases across the country. at least 15 states affected. the death toll jumping to nine. all of those in washington state. most of the victims vulnerable elderly patients at this nursing home. >> they're not answering the phones, the lines are busy.

all the families are really worried not knowing if our loved ones are even alive, if they have the virus. >> reporter: we're learning a dozen firefighters and police officers who helped patients at that kirkland life care facility are now showing flu-like symptoms. officials saying all have been put in isolation due to their potential exposure to the virus. in seattle retail giant amazon confirming one of its employees tested positive with coronavirus. a spokesperson telling abc news that employee is now in quarantine. alaska airlines washing and scrubbing planes amid growing concerns about safe travel in the outbreak. american college student chloe froning on her way home from italy. >> the guy asked if i had been to iran or china in the last two weeks. interestingly, not italy. >> reporter: but on tuesday a glimmer of hope. more than 120 evacuees from the "diamond princess" cruise ship released from quarantine symptom-free for a full 14 days. the head of the world health organization now says the global

newsom tweeting out, seriously amazon? these prices are absurd. amazon taking action saying it will crack down on these astronomical prices, removing or blocking more than 1 million products on its platform for price gouging and misleading claims. and amazon, ebay and walmart have all struggled to deal with the price gouging and removing them from their sites but in some cases not fast enough which is why you might see some of those products listed. be careful of the survival kits. you might see face masks as the survival face masks or kits that are supposed to weather through the coronavirus. there's a lot of dubious claims out there. it is buyer beware today and every day but especially right now. >> rebecca, thank you. let's bring in our chief medical correspondent dr. jennifer ashton. she's joining us from washington, d.c. and, jen, i know you'll break down some myths that are out there and the first one, we'll ask you fact or fiction. the symptoms of the flu are completely different from the symptoms of the coronavirus.

>> well, that is actually -- that's a fact. they're the same -- or fiction, actually that they are the same. there's a big overlap. they give you these nonspecific viral syndromes, fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue. we have to remember we are still in the middle of flu season so common things occur commonly. if you get any of those symptoms right now, it's still more likely you have influenza than coronavirus. >> jen, many viewers are asking if you got the flu vaccine, will that be helpful in fighting the coronavirus? >> it won't, robin. different viruses, different vaccines. it's not too late to get the flu vaccine and has some moderate efficacy this season. it's better than nothing but right now they're hard at work for a vaccine against this novel coronavirus. one vaccine doesn't help you against other viruses.

>> all right, jen, here's another one. warm weather will stop the outbreak of the coronavirus. true or false? >> no one knows, amy. okay, no one has a crystal ball. we have to remember that when it's warm weather here, it's winter in the southern hemisphere and if this spreading around the world, there is no evidence that just because it's warm weather here it's going to stop it globally. >> speaking of spreading, people want to know can pets spread the coronavirus? >> gosh, you know, we all love our pets, all three of us included. there was one case report out of asia that suggested that coronavirus was found in the nose of a pomeranian of someone who was confirmed to be sick but we don't know and in speaking of veterinarians, whether that could just be contact. so common sense, if someone has coronavirus, keep your distance from your pets just as you would another person. >> we teased this in the beginning of our program. people want to know should we be disinfecting packages that we receive in the mail? >> no evidence to that either, amy. i mean we don't know how long the fomites or these particles

of this novel coronavirus can live on dry surfaces. there's a lot of panic and hysteria and extreme steps being taken and right now there is zero evidence that it can be passed on money, packages, mail at this time. >> and finally, jen, viewers are wanting to know if you -- megadosing on vitamins, is that something that can be helpful? >> well, no evidence of that either for this or any other virus. but i'm glad that viewers are asking that because it speaks to the steps we can take to increase the power of our immune system at baseline which is helpful in not just protecting people from coronavirus but influenza, rsv, any other virus, which is get enough sleep. exercise actually has been associated with lower risks of getting even the common cold. if you smoke, stop, because that lowers your immune system and makes you more susceptible as well. >> i got to ask you again, jen, there's some viewers that are going like -- they're just

good morning, ladies. these teens are finding a loophole. over 25% of high schoolers used e-cigarettes last year according to the cdc, most of them flavored, but since the flavor ban, many teens are finding a way around it. they're turning to disposable flavored e-cigarettes. high school sophomores nikki mcclure and nate allbritton do almost everything together, classes, studying, hanging out after school. they even started vaping together. >> we were just like let's just try it because like to us everyone was doing it. >> it tastes good. the flavor. >> reporter: the best friends from paducah, kentucky, say they quickly became hooked and when flavored juuls went off the market last year, they switched to puff bars, a brand of disposable e-cigarettes. >> when the ban came, disposable was like you saw them everywhere. that's what everyone was talking about. >> juul was like not cool anymore. it's the puff bar. >> reporter: the food and drug administration's new rule bans

the sale of flavored e-cigarettes with refillable cartridges. but a loophole allows disposable e-cigs which come in flavors like watermelon and blue razz to remain on the market. >> this one is pink lemonade. if you just smell it, you realize what it is. it has as much nicotine as a pack and a half of cigarettes. >> reporter: cool clouds, the company that owns puff bar told abc news it's opposed to the illegal use of the puff bar by minors, has not engaged in any marketing and does not operate any e-commerce websites or social media. >> i calculated all the money i've used on puff bars in like the last two months and it was like $300. it makes me mad at myself almost because i hate that and i don't want to be addicted. >> reporter: the partial ban coming about after a string of vaping-related illnesses, all in an effort to curb access to sweet flavors that appeal to young people.

now these teens are urging congress to close the loophole. >> democrats are taking strong action to protect america's children. >> reporter: the house passing a bill last week to ban the sale of all flavored tobacco products, something nate and nikki hope will prevent other teens from becoming addicted and struggling to quit. >> it's just the hardest thing to do because once you feel like you're getting somewhere, it just pulls you back in. >> they are hooked and the makers of puff bar say they are no longer distributing puff bar products here in the u.s. and the vapor technology association told us that youth should not use any nicotine products, period. it's illegal. and the total ban would ruin it for adults who are using e-cigarettes to kick their habit. >> one disposable has the same nicotine as a pack and a half of cigarettes. >> it's incomprehensible. a lot of teens don't know this and getting hooked on the nicotine. >> paula, thank you. the dangerous new viral trend making the rounds on tiktok called the skull breaker challenge and two new jersey

students are now facing charges for doing it after seriously injuring another child. erielle reshef is here and, erielle, this has some big consequences. >> it sure does, amy. yet another dangerous viral prank sweeping social media. the skull breaker challenge already landing several kids in the hospital with serious injuries. now a family from new jersey is sharing their 13-year-old son's story to warn others. videos like this one may only be a few seconds. but the frightening aftermath can last much longer. this skull breaker challenge is as dangerous as it sounds. two people fool an unsuspecting third into jumping into the air kicking their feet right out from under them all captured on video and shared on tiktok. after falling victim to the challenge, stacy and mark's son was rushed to the hospital. >> my son ended up having a seizure with a traumatic brain injury and a concussion with loss of consciousness. >> reporter: now the two students who challenged the boy

>> i teach the younger girl scouts to be kind, to give service, to be prepared. >> reporter: when 12-year-old ali was qualifying for a new pin, it was ronnie who gave her the talk she needed. >> i was like, i don't know how i'm going to do this but miss ronnie probably did it a thousand times. i'm going to try. >> reporter: her uniform isn't crowded with badges and the story of why that is makes us love her even more. >> i grew too big for it but some of my friends were smaller and they could use it. in the depression times, we didn't have money for things like that so my mother gave my uniform away so away went my badges as well. so i don't have the badges. that isn't important. it's what i learned from the badges. that's the important thing. how could you not stay in girl scouts is my question. it's a way of living. and i'm still living.

more tasty and a little healthier from my point of view and i flash fry so this is chicken legs cut into small pieces and use almond flour, coconut if you're allergic to -- >> flour is a no-no. >> no flour on a keto diet. and then you flash fry in really hot oil. it takes 12 seconds. 12 seconds start to finish. so the amount of fat absorbed by food is a function of time, not the amount of oil you use so if you're cooking very fast it'll absorb a little less fat but still enough to make it keto and here's -- >> the almond flour really tastes good. i think it does too. a great alternative. >> the nut flours are more expensive. that's why we don't use them in everything and we use nut flours in all baking. >> they're a total mimic? >> i think they taste even better and perform just as well. >> the almond flour, is seasoning in there too. >> season it with adobo seasoning. one of my go tos. >> doesn't your mother have -- >> yes. my mom actually just started a
