still no sign of the ship. the ship is not here yet. but passengers have been told that they will be arriving in oakland some time today. but they're not going to all get off the ship today. the captain has told everyone that the disembarkment could take two to three days after they dock in oakland. it took officials a while to figure out where they were going to go. they decided embarcadero was too close to a major lookingt alme alameda as an option. >> we looked at alameda as a preferable site, the old naval station and some of the drafting issues created some concerns and that site was knocked off>> thes the best option pointing out it's close to the airport, where

new cases. there are some school closures because of coronavirus. archbishop riordan has canceled all classes and activities today. another school will close for two weeks because a staff member tested positive for coronavirus. in san mateo. serra is closed because a family member tested positive. lowell high school closed and immaculate conception academy is closing through march 19th just to minimize the risk of exposure. stanford is canceling all in-person classes for the last two weeks of the winter quarter. moving classes to online unders self-isolated after possible expoesher to the coronavirus. fears are impacting travel, as well, especially internationally.

abc 7 stopped by sfo. the international terminals looked pretty desolate for a weekend. some areas were completely empty with flights bound for asia. many of the people we did see were wearing masks. the airport has been seeing significantly less travel. from cruise ships to a conservative conference in maryland. more coronavirus cases are popping up coast to coast. the number of cases surged over the weekend spreading to 34 states and at least 22 americans have died. abc news reporter andrew has the latest. >> the numbers on coronavirus continue to climb. in the u.s., the total infected now topping 500 and lead health and government officials issuing widespreadern wai warnings on t. >> right now. don't wait until things get worse. above all, don't get on a cruise ship. >> reporter: meanwhile republican senator ted cruz and

are pla self-quarantine after briefly interacting with a person who has tested positive at cpac in maryland last month. in washington the state with the most deaths from the outbreak. the nursing home that had 16 confirmed dead said they have enough testing kits for all residents. new york state seeing a spike including one school district where a teacher tested positive. the school now closed until march 18th as a result. states are turning to the federal government for help. many critical of the response. >> the cdc, i believe, was slow to begin with. they were not ready for this. >> reporter: the president's task force not ruling out the possibility of shutting down a city as other countries like italy have already done. >> anything is possible. that's the reason why we have to be prepared to take whatever action is appropriate. >> and president trump maintains that the risk to americans still

>> if it's that good, let's take a look. all right. it's 4:46. east bay hills camera looking pretty quiet this morning. a chance of scattered showers today and tomorrow. best chance across the south bay and santa cruz mountains. warming trend wednesday through friday and then the weekend trending cooler for the third weekend in a sunday. highs today 61 at half moon bay and the rest of us around 64 to about 68 degrees. for tonight, temperatures running coolest up in the north bay. the least amount of cloud cover. so, upper 30s to mid-40s. the rest of us in the mid-40s to low 50s. our area of low pressure we're keeping an eye on it. it really has eyes for the southern part of the state. let's take a look at future radar. here we are at 7:00 this morning. the gray you see are the clouds and that's coming up from the south. 4:00, the santa cruz mountains and the peninsula coast and the best chance of a shower at least according to this model. overnight partly cloudy and that's why we cool down significantly.
