we are following the story and live from the port of oakland. >> up until 8:00 p.m. this evening you can see passengers exiting from the cruise ship. that has stopped. i want to step out of the way and show you what it looks like now. a different scene compared to what it was earlier today. there is still a presence outside of the cruise ship. you see the lights. this area was very busy during the daytime hours with the emergency vehicles out there. many of the passengers who did exit before 8:00 were still being processed in the tent areas outside the ship. after 8:00 p.m. again a very busy day. and a very busy night. >> this is all new video shot monday night from outside the grand princess cruise ship. cameras recorded at least five people being loaded into ambulances.

and taken to the hospitals. >> i wish the passengers the cruise line. that everything works out for them. >> city council member has been watching the situation. one where medical crews work into the night with passengers on board. mayor toured the area monday evening as wet. to ensure the operations were running smoothly. officials and employees say most of the passengers from california and most or all from canada have been processed off the ship. all this within ten hours of the boat arrival. some in the community came to the port to show support. for those very passengers who had been on board. >> we have been thinking about the people on the ship. >> chris and his son came with this sign. >> the little one was asking. he's been asking about the story that he's hearing about his school.

quarantined for 14 days. >> americans are taken to one of four military bases around the country. to travis or marine corp.s air station. passengers from other states will be in georgia or lack land in texas. >>this is new video of buses delivering the passengers to travis air force tonight. they'll be tested and quarantined on the base for 14 days before they'll be allowed to leave. >> even if they have disembarked they are in quarantine limbo before they can go home. >> we have been speaking to passengers all night and joins us in the news room with the story. >> some are off the ship others were told to get ready to disembark tonight and never allowed off. most are really still waiting in quarantine for their chance to get back on dry land. >> we didn't know if it was day

or night. >> he was on a bus monday evening headed to travis air force base. >> everybody wave. >> they spent a week in quarantine. by himself in his windowless interior ship room. his wife and son were next door. >> we were two feet apart. and that's when i was chastised and told to get in my room. it's an experience i have never had before. it's like you're in solitary confinement. >> i want to get out of the cabin. >> she spoke from her grandparents balcony room. >> movies and games and -- y day evening.n san but 8:00 p.m. they were told to go back to the room and wait until morning. >> we're ready to be off the boat. and see what's next. >> we have been getting everybody off the ship.

>> she says she has a cough she reported to officials who went room to room monday. >> he had on a hazmat suit. he was all taped up. and hooded up. >> i have spoken to and messaged with her every day since last wednesday. despite the coronavirus concerns, she's always positive. >> what's been the key to maintaining a good attitude? >> honestly, i have a very strong faith. >> they have been told they will be disembark 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. she doesn't know when she and her husband will got off. >> princess cruises is refunding the full fare for every passenger as well as the cost of the air travel. hotel. transportation. prepaid shore excursions and other items.

oakland. around noon the ship headed in. after a maneuvering it appeared to have finally docked. we saw passengers on the balconies watching. some started waving. we spotted crew members on the deck wearing masks. >> there are several school closures due to the coronavirus. san francisco state is suspending in person classes and will be holding them remotely. city college of san francisco is suspending class until march 30. san jose state suspended in person classes. the same goes for berkeley. suspending through spring break. and you can see the full list on our web site. >> over in italy government has locked down the entire country. after the number of confirmed cases doubled in just three days the prime minister ordered all 60 million residents to stay
